  1. So, today is day 2 post op. I am taking pain medication every 6 hours as directed, so I haven't felt any pain whatsoever. My stomach is still VERY swollen and bloated. I look like I may be 8 months pregnant, and it is very uncomfortable, but not painful. My bed rest pillow is my new best friend. I can semi-lyedown with it without straining and struggling to get up like I was when I would lay all the way down. I was able to drink a whole bottle of water slowly sipping throughout the whole day, tried to drink watered down Gatorade (G2) but it was still way too sweet to stomach. Low sodium chicken broth really hit the spot today, tomorrow I hope to eat half a cup of single serving sugar free jello. Walking is getting much easier, but I'm trying not to push it.
  2. Sorry to ramble, but I hope this helps someone in the preop stage that is wondering exactly how things went down like I did. Feel free to ask me any questions! There is no such thing as TMI in my book (as you can obviously tell). Us being here for each other is the BEST sense of support! <3
  3. I used the restroom and everything came out fine (tmi, but it smelt a little off, and a tip: wipingyour cookie back to front was much more comfortable then the front to back. I also used a wipie). I lyedown in bed on my comfy pillow-one of those bed rest pillows that have the arm rests and high back) and watched TV. I feel great! I'm taking small sips of water, as I took a semi medium swig and it made me gag. Now I'm just chilling watching TV and have a back massager(which I highly reccoment getting from Target or Walmart for about $6!) life is good, I feel great, and I am walking around my house every now and then.
  4. My stomache had a very bloated feeling, but no pain. My throat felt SO sore! About an hour later my upper shoulder towards my neck started to feel a tiny bit sore. The RN massaged it, and I fell asleep for about an hour and a half. I woke up when I heard the RN call my name. She asked me if I felt well enough to get dressed. I told her yes, and changed by myself. I noticed that my belly was huge (like a semi inflated balloon) and it was completely numb when I touched it (pulling up my pants). I walked a few steps and they had to push me in a wheelchair to my car since I was still so groggy. I made it home fine, took a gas x strip (a tip I heard on here frequently) and walked around for a while.
  5. I was asked to lye down on the operating table and they put arm and leg straps. They also put "leg massagers" on me. At that time, the anestisioligist <-sp? told me to take deep breaths in. I fell asleep. When I woke up, I was in the recovery room. I felt instantly nautious and threw up twice. I gagged for almost an hour. They gave me nausea medication and it made me feel a little better.
  6. Hey guys, good news... I'm alive! I cried a few times before the surgery because I was so scared. When they were ready to take me into the waiting area (preop) they checked my vitals, gave me a stylish gown, hair cap, and slippers. I changed and shortly after the RN came bye to insert my IV (in the arm). I waited about an hour for the doctors to finish the previous patients surgery. When the patient was out, the doctors came in to ask me a few questions (what are you here for, is your name spelt correctly on your wristband, etc.) they then asked me to get up and walk into the operating room.
  7. Thank you guys. I just checked in and had my urine sample collected. I am SO nervous!
  8. Hey everyone! I am going in at 11am on 10/5/12 to get banded. I've never had surgery before, so please fill me in on what to expect with the whole experience, and any tips. I really appreciate it! LBT has been a lifesaver thus far!
  9. Have you tried "new whey"? It's a semi clear liquid protein you add in your water. That may help as the first 3 days are clear liquids only
  10. Short term for me: lose 45 lbs by 6 months post op, be able to tie my shoes without any hassle, get my chin back (no more face that turns into a neck), become less tired throughout the day, and to fit into a size 14. I would love to shop at Forever 21 and get "regular sized clothes", but let's be honest, that's more a long term goal!
  11. I will be getting banded on 10/5 and wanted to hear others short term goals (up to a year post op). My starting weight is 215, I've been on the pre op diet for 6 days, and am incredibly nervous and joyous at the same time! Let's hear your goals!
  12. Sometimes, it's best to put yourself first. Welcome to the road of success
  13. I am on day 2 of the preop diet and the only thing that is killing me is no coffee! I am a religious coffee drinker, drink it every morning, and never go without it. the liquid diet is going well so far, I've been getting just a few headaches here and there, but I am just craving coffee! Would it be horrible to have a cup of decaf coffee?
  14. I am also keeping it a secret. I told my dad and he reacted horribly. He told me that I was too lazy to work out or strictly diet. That is totally untrue. I am young, VERY active, and am in WAY better health than him (I am 220 lbs and he is close to 400) I would like to keep this personal so I can heal properly and not be stressed about losing the weight. My immediate family knows, but other than that, mums the word!
  15. Me too! October 5th... Holla!
  16. I go in for my pre op appointment on Friday and am scheduled for surgery the first weekend in October. Although I've been through a 6 month waiting period to see if I would be approved, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have second thoughts. After thinking it over, I feel like this procedure is necessary so I may live a healthy, long life. If I could have lost weight on my own, it would have already happened. Do you mind me asking what they were saying negatively about it?
  17. My nutritionist said I should be aiming for 20-30 grams of protein, 3 or less grams of fat, and less than 5 grams of sugar per serving. I searched everywhere for protein that fit this requirment, and Walmart out of all places had some of the best and well priced protein for what my needs will be.
  18. How are you feeling? I take it you were at an outpatient facility?
  19. I bet you have all made your passed loved ones so proud! Some of the things I am excited for are to be able to shop in regular stores at the mall (instead of resorting to the clearance rack from Walmart), looking smokin' on my 5th annerversary this April- ( I get banded in early October... I *think* he bought a ring!) too see my lady parts, paint my toenails, wear my hear certain ways that right now don't flatter my face, stop getting bumps on my inner thighs from them rubbing together, be active, have more energy, man... I could go on forever!
  20. Being 25 and overweight is hard. I recently noticed that when I started gaining weight, I distanced myself from friends. All I ever hang out with is my boyfriend and my mom. I hope that after I loose some weight, I will be proud to reconnect with my friends. I am 216 and 5'2. I can't even imagine life under 200 at this point!
