Day 2 Preop... Coffee!

I am on day 2 of the preop diet and the only thing that is killing me is no coffee! I am a religious coffee drinker, drink it every morning, and never

go without it. the liquid diet is going well so far, I've been getting just a few headaches here and there, but I am just craving coffee! Would it be horrible to have a cup of decaf coffee?

They said I could have decaf, as ling as I used fat free creamer and artificial sweetner not sugar

My surgeon says decaf is okay, but absolutely no creamers even if fat-free! It's interesting how different docs have different opinions. Also, if you're having headaches, could it be caffeine withdrawal?

My nutritionist says that coffee is fine

I was good with decaf and even put it in my vanilla shakes to cut the taste a bit.

Thank you all for your advice. I understand that coffee could be an irritant to the stomache and band after surgery, but quitting cold turkey is just insanely hard for me. I will have a cup of decaf before work, and will slowly wean myself this week with a whole week of no coffee before my surgery date.

I could have coffee and creamer on my preop. Anything liquid but use any creams moderately were my rules.
