  1. It's frustrating. I gained inches and pounds. I was doing so well, and I don't know what happened!
  2. Thanks all! I do have gastric bypass. I'm a revision. I just don't know how to change that on here. Lol
  3. I'm 4 months post op, I've lost 50 pounds so far, but this past week I gained 5 pounds! Why!?! Why has it happened? Feeling super discouraged. Is this the end of my weight loss? Has this happened to other people?
  4. I'm a revision. I did have a band. It was revised to gastric bypass April 29th
  5. I'm a little over two months out, I've lost 24 pounds, and I've been stuck at 250 for three weeks. I'm getting frustrated because I don't know why I'm not losing weight. What could I be doing wrong????
  6. I'm a revision from band to bypass, and I don't know what happened after surgery, (2 weeks ago today,) but I CANNOT stomach artificial sweeteners anymore. It hits my palate like poisonous metal. And what are all the Protein supplements made of? Artificial sweeteners... I am in this dangerous situation where I am seriously subsiding off Water and soy milk. I've been taking swallowed Vitamins instead of chewed, because I can't take the sweetners. Honestly, I can't. Would you continue to drink or chew something that tasted like bleach? I know taste buds change after surgery, but this is ridiculous. Argh!!! Sorry for my rant. Just one more week, then I can go to mushies... even then, how do I get the protein in before the solids aka meat stage? Sigh...
  7. Hi, Just got revision from band to gastric bypass. There was a seven month wait between taking the band out and getting the bypass. I've been mostly subsisting off protein-added soy milk. I cannot, CANNOT take the taste of artificial sweeteners anymore. Drinking the Protein shakes bring tears to my eyes. Weird how taste buds change after surgery. I could handle them after the Lap band surgery. But drinking has been weird. There was a time a couple days ago I think I swallowed too many Vitamins at once, and I felt a sharp pain near my tummy. The initial pain isn't there, but now when I drink, I get a weird achy pain near my left hip. I hope I'm not leaking. Not to mention my body has been achy as heck. Especially my mid and lower back... Sigh. Well, a week and a half left of liquids. Then I can be on mushy foods and I can get protein in without and sweets or artificial sweeteners.

  9. Mine is Minkypop. I really need encouragement, especially as a college student surrounded by terrible food... Lol
  10. Ok... It most likely went down. I found sugar free gum, and my breath was kicking. I had a meeting and didn't want to knock them out. I'm in such a habit of swallowing gum, I did it out of habit, but didn't realize until it was too late
  11. Hi, I was chewing gum and accidentally swallowed it. I have never had a fill. Should I go to the hospital?
  12. Hi, First answer, I never really got into the Simpson's, so I would say no to using them for the title, lol :-) Second, this didn't happen before the surgery, so I'm pretty sure it isn't something that is not lap band related. It definitely is a side effect, but I don't understand why...
  13. Hi, My post is similar to others except I sweat EVERYWHERE! All the time, with any modicum of physical activity--walking leisurely, moving, thinking... I've been reduced to carrying a napkin around to wipe my head with. And I live in Seattle, it isn't hot here at all, and we haven't hit the humid season yet. Is this losing weight? Am I burning that much fat just living because I haven't started my workout regimen yet (I'm only 3 weeks post-op, and my doc said only walking for 6) What's going on? Anyone else have this?
  14. Hi, I hear you loud and clear on that one. My hospital has a sort of bariatric grocery for us, and they sell the nectar brand. Of that, for the milk-based ones, I liked the chocolate truffle and strawberry mousse. For the water-based ones, I liked the fuzzy navel. As a point of reference, I HATE sweets, so even these get to me, but I can choke them down, which is saying something. :-)
  15. Before the band, I did not like sweets...at all... I would go a whole year without sweet food. I would usually take a bite or two of my birthday cake, or put some sweet potatoes on my thanksgiving plate. But, really, I wasn't into sweets. I wasn't a big soda drinker or juice... My weight packed on because I love savory food. I love spaghetti and meatballs, steak and potatoes, roasted chicken and rice, broccoli and cheese, stuffed pork chops... I'm only a week in (I had my surgery sept.4,) and if I have another chocolate Protein Shake or strawberry Multivitamin, I think I'm going to explode. I know this phase isn't forever, but I'm not getting the calories I need because eating this stuff is such a chore... And I'm on liquids for another two weeks! Tomato Soup and beef broth only goes so far... Sigh... Sorry for the rant, but any advice or words of encouragement???
  16. Thanks everyone for replying. I think I am eating so quickly because I am really hungry. They said they gave me a larger band because I had " thicker than usual" stomach lining. I will slow down and do clear liquids, but I'm wondering what I can do, outside drinking, like, 3 protein shakes a day, to counteract the hunger part...
  17. Hi. I was banded Sept.4. Ever since, I've eaten about a bowl of tomato soup. Every time I eat it, I feel that "stuffed" feeling you get when you eat too much. And I get a stomach ache and painful burps. I'm going to go back to shake and clear liquid because I'm terrified of stretching out my new tummy... Advice/
