Survived My 1St Fill, But I'm A Bit Annoyed

PollyAnna you are absolutely right. Lori it is your body and you have every right to ask and know what they have put in your band. I would just let the Doctor and NP know that when you called you felt the receptionist wasn't the most cooperative with your request and you felt they should know how she treated you due to the fact she is the frontline communication with patients. What doctor wants to loose patients due to a miserable employee. On the other hand Visionary is correct, do not let her make you miserable, kill her with kindness and make her aware that as a patient it is your right to obtain your medical information upon request. This is supposed to be a positive life changing experience for us, so move on to tomorrow and forget those who cannot move on with you. Good Luck with your journey!
  2. Today was my one week post-op appointment. I am healing quite well. I also lost 4lbs since surgery (I'll take it!). I am feeling good, but did have an experience yesterday. I ate my lunch way too fast and felt like my insides were going to explode. Thank god it was just soup. I had to go outside and walk it off for about a half an hour. I definitely learned my lesson. I will make sure I take my time eating and be more conscience of what and how I am eating. My first fill has been scheduled for October 11th. I know I can do this!
  3. I was banded October 11th. I didn't experience pain, I was uncomfortable for about 5 days. The gas causes the most discomfort so you have to keep moving. I walked from my living room to my kitchen every hour the first day, then I added short walks outside. The more you move the better. It gets better everyday, but you can't sit still you have to move that gas. In regards to eating, I sipped broth, jello, protein shakes, water, etc... You should follow the diet your doctor gave you. Take one day at a time. You can get through this! Think of the positive outcome. Good luck to you!
  4. I am now 5 days post-op. I feel pretty good. Seem to have gas after I eat, but pain has been minimal. I have been craving meat and I am a vegetarian. It hasn't been easy getting in my protein because I do get full easily. Returning to work tomorrow, not really looking forward to going back. I have one more week at this job and will be starting a new job the following week. I am looking for postive change, positive people and a new skinny me. Here's to positve changes in life "toast".

    Indigestion?

Maybe try taking chewables instead of swallowing a pill. I have changed all my vitamins to chewable and it has been very easy digesting them. I would also call you doctor and explain what is going on. Better safe than sorry

    Gas Pain :(

I am post-op day 1. I have been walking, talking gas x and they said take stool softeners so you are not constipated. Have you had a bowel movement since surgery?
  10. Post-Op day one! Well, I am officially banded. Surgery went well, no complcations. I had tolerable pain in recovery so I didn't request any pain meds. It definitely made a difference in my alertness and ability to move and walk when I arrived home. I have had no problem taking in fluids. For pain I have been alternating Tylenol and Advil, and taking my chewable Bromelain(pineapple extract-helps with overall inflammation in the body). I am walking every hour. So far it has been a positive experience. How's everyone else doing??
  11. Getting banded September 11th. A bit scared, but know this is going to be the best thing I ever did. Looking forward to sharing my progress and experience with others.
  12. Michelle, Not sure how far south Jersey you are but my Bariatric surgeon also does body work. Here's a link to his website. http://mehtabariatriccenter.com/ Good luck!

    On The Other Side....

I am getting banded tomorrow September 11th. Not thinking about the pain, soreness or even the diet change. Trying to focus on the end result. Being Thin! no aches, no pains, no plus size clothing. Happy and healthy enjoying life!! We can do this and get through this!
  14. Susie, I wasn't required to do a liquid diet. I was wondering why my Dr. didn't require that. I am excited but nervous too. I just want to loose this weight and stay healthy.
  15. I am scheduled for September 11th.
