    Depression

I have suffered from depression for many many years and take prozac every day. But this after surgery is kinda different. Like out of the blue for no reason you just feel down and cranky and sad. I think it must have something to do with the hormones in our fat. Or something. Cause I will find myself just looking out the window feeling hopeless and I think what the heck is wrong with you, you should be so happy and you are feeling like this. It is a bummer. I want to be happy and healthy so bad.

So glad to hear from you. Did you tell the nurse about your anxiety? Maybe she can call the doc and get you something. It is perfectly normal to feel that way. Don't suffer. Try to stay ahead of the pain. Walk, sip and rest. Praying for you and sending you the most healing of thoughts.

New Here, Revision date Jan 14

I had the revision on Dec. 5. I had my lapband for seven years. I only lost about 30 pounds over and over and over again, I had no complications with the band, no slip or errosion. But I was either too tight or too loose and just never found what would work. Also even when losing with the band my diabetes was still way out of control and it did nothing to help that. So after seven years of up and down weight loss and ending up on over 300 units of Insulin a day which caused great inflamation thoughout my body to the point of me being close to homebound, I had the revision. My family Doc and three specialists thought the bypass would be the answer to the diabetes. So I went through the process and even lost 28 pounds pre op. Now almost four weeks post op another 10 pounds gone, And as far as the diabetes it is still there and I still need insulin but about 35 units a day instead of 300 to get the same numbers. So I am still hopeful. I wish you the very best and I think you will be happy with your decision I really do.

We have been so worried about you. I pray you feel better soon, the pic line will help with not so many pokes for iv's and blood tests. You will be glad after they put it in. I hope they figure out what is wrong and get you back on track really soon. We have all been thinking about you and praying for you.

    DIABETES

I am still on insulin but a lot less to get the same numbers. Still need some adjusting. Still holding out hope that the diabetes will improve. Not the miracle I was hoping for but it is better and I think it will get better.

    Scared?

Don't be afraid. You will lose. And when you aren't losing according to the scale you may be losing inches or other things are improving. Don't be a slave to the scale. IF it causes you stress weigh just a couple of times a week or even once. You are not going through all this for nothing, Just keep on keeping on. Wishing you the very best, Trust yourself you will not fail.

    Back to the starting line

Thank you for sharing and your honesty. You can do this. Glad you are getting back on track. I know you know how important the vitamins are your protein. We are here for you.
  14. that is so cool i so need to do something like that. I have strap marks all the time. If I take a nap and then go somewhere in the evening everyone says what is wrong with your face. BUT i don't even lay down for five mins with out putting my BI Pap on. I love it and don't really even think about not needing it. But I have had sleep apnea an really awful snoring even when I wasn't obese, I even had surgery to try to correct it years and years ago but still ended up needing the Cpap first then on to a BIPaP and my settings are pretty high. So please everyone keep trying to use it. It really does get easier and it will make a big difference in the quality of your sleep.

I only weigh a couple times a week. It would be to discouraging to see that scale go up and down and up and down. So far everytime it has been down even if just by a little bitty bit. And that keeps me a bit saner.

    Band to Bypass on Monday!

I had a revision from band to bypass on Dec, 5 I have done very well with no complications so far, During my surgery I also had an ovary mass and cyst removed, (the later was discovered right before surgery) I had the band seven years ago. I did not have any complications with it but no real weight loss and none that stayed off at all,. And the band did not improve any of my co morbidties like asthma and diabetes or high blood pressure, For the last several years I just had an empty band, I could never seem to get the right fill either, too loose or too tight. I also didn't do as much follow up as I should have, so I am not blaming the band just saying we kinda both failed each other, I like you was way more nervous about the bypass surgery but it has been fine, Not too much pain, it was manageable. I am still working through the different stages of eating, Mostly still drink a lot of protein shakes and eat just a small amount of purreed food couple times a day. So far nothing has got stuck, no pb, no vomiting, so I am pretty happy, I think you will be happy with your decision, Wishing you the very best, Welcome to the board,..

    the day before surgery question

Hippie gal If you can and it is probably going to cost the same I would get to the hotel much earlier and check in and drink the mag stuff there and then you won't have to worry about traveling after taking it., Maybe you could check in around three or so and that would give you plenty of time to drink it and be done by bedtime. I think getting there close to the hospital with the weather threatening will make you feel so much more relaxed. Thinking of you today and praying for you tomorrow, It is going to be a brand new year and a brand new you. Big Hugs

    Marriage problems

I don't know what to say except I feel for you being in this situation and I know it is so hard. You are so strong and I think you will make it through and make the right decisions at the right time. You have a plan and you aren't going to be derailed. He is showing his insecurities and jealousy at you getting healthier and feeling more attractive. These are his problems. And he either will get over it or he won't. Just take care of yourself and your kids and do what you feel is best,

    Hi everone!

Welcome Melynie I had my lap band removed after seven years and the gastric bypass performed on Dec, 5th, I never had any horror experiences with the band but very little successs either, I wish I had done the gastric bypass to begin with but I thought I knew better, But really I just wasted seven years that I could have been getting healthier, You have just about got the hard parts out of the way jumping through all the hoops the insurance requires and it seems everyone asks something different of us. Wishing you the best. There is a wealth of information and support here so if you have questions or concerns just ask somebody will have an answer. Again Welcome and hoping the next couple of months go quickly for you so you can get on with your journey.

    My journey so far.....

Kerri Thank you so much for sharing. I am so happy things are progressing so nicely. You are doing great. I love your attitude. I hope you get stronger and feel better every day and that when you go through the different stages of food that you tolerate them well. I am 3.5 weeks out and I am slowly moving to the pureed foods. I do get in all my fluids and several protein shakes a day and my vitamins. I made it through the holidays without any real issues or feelings of begin deprived. Like you I am happy so far and have no regrets at this point and hope for all of us this remains the case. Again thank you for sharing. Wishing you the best,.

Gastric Bypass Post op Day 3..

try to stay in front of the pain with your meds for next couple of days. walk as much as you can and then sip and rest, It gets better every day. it really really does, And everyone is different in how much pain they have due to how much "poking" around your surgeon did and the muscles disturbed and maybe scar tissue removed. But it will get better. A lot of the pain is probable gas and walking is about the only thing that will help that move.
