    "you Fat Slob"

It is possible that he is afraid of you having the surgery and really doesn't know how to express it. But that would be trying to see some good in this. But he sure is acting like a jerk right now. As hard as it is try not to be to discouraged. You have the date, have the surgery, gather someone to support you and heal and then see where things are. Emotional abuse is so bad. I know I have been there. Big Hugs

They do have fears. They have probably heard more negative things or remember "back in the day" when so and so had this surgery and whatever negative thing happened or almost happened. So a lot of how they are is fear for you. They love you. I hope you have a local support group that you can go to and meet others face to face that have had wls. That will help calm you too. Hugs.

You are right, your family is probably more scared then you are. So that makes it hard. The easy thing for them to say would be don't do it. But we are all here for you and will encourage you and you can vent and express yourself. A wealth of information on this forum and always someone to reach out to,

    Rny After Lap Band Removal

I am in the process of insurance approval to have a revision from Band to RNY. I have had my band for seven years. I have been very lucky to have not complications, no slips ect. My band is unfilled now, because i never did get the 'sweet' spot, either to tight and things would come back up or I would revert to soft high carb foods, or too loose and I can pretty much eat anything. But since the band I have lost and gained the same 30 to 40 pounds. Now at my heaviest. And the band did not help any of my medical problems. I am hoping the RNY both with the smaller stomach and mal absorption and the actual surgery itself will help with my uncontrolled type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance. I am so sensitive to insulin that I swell and ache all over but I have to take large amounts to keep my blood sugar down. It is like I am on a merry go round, hurt, can't exercise, can't exercise, gain weight, blood sugars out of control, more insulin, can't breath because of severe asthma and copd, need steriods about once a year, higher blood sugars, more weight gain, can't exercise, and around and around we go.

    Sleep Apnea

Hearing things like hearing this makes me want to scream. You should have had that machine within a couple of days. ridiculous. I sure hope somebody gets on the ball and gets you set up. Make sure when they bring it to you or you go in and get it that they help you with adjusting the mask to you. and maybe even lay down try a couple of sleeping positions to see how it is going to fit. Don't let the respiratory people just drop it and run or have you pick it up without some demonstration and education on it. I love my bipap and can't imagine ever not needing it. But I have had sleep apena my whole adult life, way before I weighted what I do now. But I could need a lower pressure eventually. You will feel so much better after you get it and get used to wearing it. Hope you get a call tomorrow that they have it. Sending you positive thoughts.

    Cpap

I have been using a CPAP/BIPAP for about 13 years. It does take a bit of getting used to. But once you do it will be your new best friend. A couple of suggestions. Try laying down for a short nap with it. Not so much mental pressure on having to sleep all night. But do put it on every night, you may pull it off in your sleep but continue to put it on every night. You may also need to have the pressure adjusted. Call your sleep doctor. You may also need a different headgear and mask or the one you have is not adjusted properly. Call the provider of your machine and mask and ask if they can help you in a better fit. It is worth going to what ever measures you can to get the proper adjustment both in the pressure and the fitting of the mask. It will make a real difference in how you sleep and how you feel the next day. And after your surgery theses needs will need to be addressed again as your sleep apnea may improve and settings may need to be changed again. Please keep trying to used the mask, and get the answers and help you need. Just like the WLS it is not a one size fits all. WIshing you the best and feel free to ask me any questions you have,

    So Irritated...

It has always amazed me how we think and speak in days and those that control so many things in our lives talk weeks and months. The waiting is the hardest part. Also very frustrating when we have done everything we can to help these processes along, and those with the power goof up. Last Friday I called Insurance Gal to see if they had everything (It was supposed to have been a week since it was to be submitted) and she put me on hold, came back and said my chart was still in the drawer, the counselor had not given it to her to submit, so she said she would do it right away. Well here is another week. Trying to be patient.

    Newbie

I am waiting for approval to have the band removed and then rny. Waiting for insurance approval now, I have gained and lost the same 30 to 40 pounds since the band seven years ago. Never got below the 40 pound loss. Now I am at my highest. The one thing the band never helped improved even when losing about 30 pounds was any of my health issues, diabetes, sleep apnea , asthma, copd, High Blood Pressure and generalized pain and inflamation from insulin. My prayer is that the RNY will address some of these. I just want to be able to walk and stand without pain and to BREATH. Hoping and Praying for you also.
