    Remission stories?

Mine is still here, but I am on a lot less insulin and getting better numbers. I actually went low night before last so I am going to have to adjust the insulin some more. So I didn't leave the hospital off all insulin like I had dreamed and hoped and prayed. But in three weeks it is better than it has been in 10+ years. So I am still hopeful.

So glad you had your surgery and you are doing well. For the chewing you might try ice chips or sugar free Popsicles That may help the sensation you are missing. Keep those liquids going that is so very important right now. Wishing you the best.

Wife doesn't want me to get surgery

Stitch I am so happy you have had such support. That guy is a keeper no two ways about it. My Husband is very supportive also and I can't imagine him not being. But I would have still had the surgery even if he wasn't. I just would have probably made his life a bit miserable lol. Fear of something happening to you is usually a lot of what is going on when a spouse or partner or even a family member is against you having surgery. They just remember any horror story they have ever heard and are afraid it is going to happen to you. My Husband new there were risks but he also knows the risks of my high blood sugars, high blood pressure and asthma. Like me he knew it was worth the risk to get healthy.

    Help?

I have no answers just lots of prayers that you will find answers, I will tell you I have had problems with depression for many many years and take Prozac daily, And you think having this surgery everything will be roses but clinical depression is still there, Parts of me feel better but some days the depression is as bad as ever, I am only three weeks out from surgery. So that is no comparison to your Husband, Praying for you and him both.

    Unsweetened Applesauce

I have lived on the Kroger store brand no sugar added apple sauce. Some days a couple of servings 3 oz each is all I eat besides protein shakes. Wish you luck in finding something that will stay down.

Me either and I am usually hot hot hot, don't even wear a coat till there is snow on the ground. But now I live in a robe over pajamas or clothes. And today I can't stop shaking. Don't know what is up with that.

    Bratty Ash

Ashley welcome and wishing you the very best these two weeks and beyond. Seven years ago when A Doc told me I needed barbaric surgery I thought he had grown a third eye or something. But I did check into it after a bit and ended up being very stubborn and thinking I knew everything and I got the lap band. Well that is not what kind of surgery that Doc was talking about he meant the gastric bypass, but I thought no way that is way to aggressive and I don't have that much weight to lose. But that very wise Doc knew that the Gastric Bypass would help my diabetes not just weight loss. But I wouldn't listen. Seven years later with losing and gaining the same 30 pounds over and over and no improvement in my diabetes, only worsening, I sought out having a revision. And I am three weeks out from having my lap band removed and gastric bypass performed. And my diabetes is improving little by little everyday. I wasted seven years of being close to a shut in all because I thought I knew it all. You have made a wise decision, all be it a hard one, but one you should be very proud of yourself for making. This forum is a very special place with people who have so much compassion and knowledge. You will find so much support, Again Welcome and wishing you the very very best,

    Struggle/nerves

Waiting has to be the hardest part, Doing another sleep study shouldn't slow anything down but you will probably be put on a C pap machine, and your Doc will want you to use it so as soon as you have the second test and get the machine start using it right away so that if he requires you to have been using it for a certain length of time you already have that time counting along with your six months. Also the sleep apnea diagnosis assists with insurance approval. Wishing you the best and truly understand the waiting and the effect it has on your nerves.

    Experiencing extreme cold?

I am much colder than befoe surgery. Where a robe all day. And If I go out and get cold, wow takes forever to get warm again. It is like you are cold all the way to your bones. If my incisions were all healed I would sit in a warm bath. But that will have to wait for a little longer. And you just know when you take a warm shower you are going to be freezing before you get dressed.
