  1. I was banded in Oct 2007 with Dr. Marina kurian. Gained so much weight back cause i had a leak and when I went to go speak to

Her about fixing my band she told me the nurse practioner will see me cause she was late to her hair dresser appt and her hair dresser doesn't like when she is late! I waited to see her for almost an hr in the waiting area and over an hr in the room n she just ditched me!??? What the hell kind of Dr. Does that????? I work for surgerons so 1 of my drs. Referred me to Dr. Bradley Schwack and he is so nice! He listens to you answers all your questions and especially doesn't try rush you out of the room to see his next patient. I just got my lap band replaced on March 1' date=' 2013 with Dr. Schwack. He replaced everything because he said the band looked damaged n it wasn't in place right. I feel he is a much more caring, nice, and much more throrough and smart than Dr. Marina Kurian.[/quote']

I was recently banded by Dr Kurian, I always found her to be nothing but nice & punctual with appointments. I'm sorry you had a weird experience with her.

  2. Goals are to be off my blood pressure medicine, off my c-pap machine, I can't stand it!, to be able to wear a summer dress without worrying about my arms and stomach , butt, hips etc.... and to be in a healthy bmi range, for my height I should be 115lbs. Seems crazy right now but I want it so bad!

  3. Congratulations and welcome! I hope you are resting well! I used to like broth and now I loathe it. I actually dumped out my broth tonight because it was making me sick. So tired of it. Tomato Soup isn't on my list of approved items just yet but I would be thrilled to have it right now. I have 2 more days to have my follow up so I hope that my menu is upgraded. Keep in touch! :)

Karina, I cannot tell you how delicious the Tomato Soup was, I hardly had 2-3oz, but to have something that didn't taste artificial was amazing! V8 tastes good too. I'm so looking forward to stage 2 when I can have lentil or split pea soup, tuna salad, etc... real food! What is on your list fir the next stage?

  4. Hi AbbieL - those symptoms sound like trapped gas pain' date=' it can put a lot of pressure around your incisions and make you feel bloated.

The main thing that worked for me was walking, getting up and moving even though it's the last thing you want to do when you feel like crap. I would walk around for at least 15 min every hour. I had to hold a pillow against the most swollen part of my tummy and my belly button incision for support, but moving helped a lot.

Warm/hot liquids (tea, broth sipped slowly) also helped, better than anything cold. It seemed to help the gas move, didn't really get the burps I had hoped for but it helped more than cold Water or popsicles.

And I think it may have been mostly a placebo effect but I did take the chewable Gas-x, just let it dissolve on my tongue with a tiny sip of water.

Hope this helps, hang in there![/quote']

Thanks for the advice, what kind of broth do you recommend? I'm going to try Tomato Soup tonight, but I have no appetite. I took a walk earlier and the burps came up, it hurt but I'm glad it's out.

  5. Day 2post op and I have really bad pain, my belly button incision is so bad, my whole stomach feels tight and swollen and bloated! I hate this!

It's really hard to burp, I really want to but it just won't come put. Anyone else having a hard time post op? My pain meds are not easing the discomfort.

  6. yay! that's the same feeling i have...i can't believe i have a lap band?!? i'm on day 4 post-surgery and went out today shopping' date=' saw a movie, met up with friends...still have the gas pain and sharp shoulder pain if i try to get anything more than a tiny sip down every 10 minutes but recovery has been super speedy.

hope everyone else who is banded is doing well and good luck to those still on the pre-op diet :)[/quote']

Wow, I hope I feel that good 4days post op. I have a lot of pain this morning. Gas pain is much less, but still in my shoulders a little. I'm feeling very proud of my self going through surgery though.

    Good luck everyone, who's next!!!???

  7. Had my surgery this morning, all went well. I did cry going in to the operating room, I was so nervous. But they gave me some valium in the iv &I felt great after that! LOL

I'm now at home resting. The gas pain is bad but walking really helps. I can't believe I have a lap band!!!!!

  8. Had my surgery this morning. The incision pain is not bad at all, it's the has in my shoulders! It's hard to breath sometimes, it hurts!!!!

I opted to come home instead of staying over &am going to take a nap. The surgeon said all went well, she fixed a hernia I never knew I had, I have 3incisions and it was about 1hour 30 minutes.

I'm sipping propel and a little slimfast but I feel full after not even a quarter of the slimfast .

Walking is relieving the gas pain but I'm so tired to get up now!

  9. I also stayed over one night and it's a good thing' date=' my kids would have been all over me and it's nice to have nurses at your beck and call. I was so nauseous the first day also I wouldn't have done well at home. Day 2 was a bit easier and day 3 has been okay. I still have a lot of pressure in my abdomen, but things are starting to "move" so I think in another day or two I will feel better.

Also, I started feeling really light after the pre-op since I lost 15 pounds (not really thin, but you know that feeling) and now because of the gas in my body I feel like I'm 9 months pregant LOL.

    Stay positive everyone!![/quote']

Glad to hear you are on the mend on day 3, I'm so glad I am staying the night because my 21month old would be wanting to wrestle &climb on me. How are you coping with the kids on day 3-4?

  10. Congrats and good luck to all having or had surgery this week. Mine was on March 1 and today is the 5th and I feel great. Gas is pretty much gone and insisions look and feel great. It is hard to believe a week ago I was still on preop diet and stressing about surgery! It all worked out wonderfully. :-)

Wow, great to hear you are doing so well post op! I'm most worried about pain management afterwards.

  11. I loved reading this thread, so I will join in!

    Congratulations to those already banded!!!!

My surgery is March 9th. A Saturday, which I thought was strange ! I'm staying over night.

I'm on day 6 of pre op diet, 3-5 Protein Shakes a day + 2 cups of steamed veggies. I keep thinking of chicken!!!!

I am worried about looking after my 21 month old after surgery, my husband is only going to be home to help for 3 days afterwards. Those who've had surgery already-do you think I will be ok pain wise???
