  1. @Jenny: I could have written this myself! This is precisely what I'm experiencing' date=' too.

Re fat: I make sure to add some avocado to my meal, or some cheese to get in some fat. It helps keep me satisfied and has some benefits such as less-dry skin and hair.< /p>

Re meat: I can only tolerate moist hamburger, too...no other red meats. That's ok; I'm don't miss steak or pork anyway.

Re not waiting until one is starving to eat: my biggest battle, too. Waiting far too long for lunch today, and, as you described, ended up starving AND in pain. My chest still hurts, in fact, and I'm still starving.

Must.slow.down. and must not arrive at the table soooo hungry.[/quote']

I could also have written every thing you two mention!

I am still eating way too fast, I get the full signal too late sometimes and by then I'm so full it hurts. I'm learning.

Coming to terms with my head hunger, I'm not missing certain foods that do not go down well, bread, Pasta ( except I do miss my tortellini with lots of cheese tho'!), rice, sweets -very sugary things give me severe indigestion.

How's everyone doing? I'm going for my 3rd post op appointment tomorrow, don't think I need a fill.

  2. lol I am so right there with you. I am not sure if they put anything in my band to begin with but I have already had 2 fills. The first one they put in 2cc's they tried to do another 2cc's last Wednesday but I didnt even get to the parking lot before I lost the Water I had drank. I had to go back in and have them take some out. No fun at all. I am finding it difficult to find the right balance of food and remembering to eat slow small bites. This is what always gets me. I get too hungry and then eat too fast. I am starting to see the scale move now. I go back every 3 weeks for a fill so hopefully I will start to see a greater difference soon.

My Dr only took out 1cc, now I have 5cc. The 1 made a big difference, I drank the cup of water just fine. But now 4days out I'm not feeling any obvious restriction. I'm really stressed out and its making me not prepare for meal times so I'm snacking more and then I cannot keep track and I don't really know if I feel hunger or not. I'm eating healthy foods, no junk or sugary stuff. I guess the band will never really help with emotional eating problems. I eat way too fast and bigger bites than I'm supposed to. There is so much to learn! My Dr said you ate a certain way all your life, it's going to take time to learn this new way.

  3. I'm finding it hard to not be discouraged either. I'm stuck right now and really need a fill. I can't get in until the end of May. They are so booked up I had to put myself on a cancelation list. I've only had one fill and I don't feel any restriction what so ever. I'm working hard at Portion Control and exercising but I'm only losing a few ounces to a pound here and there.

I hope you get a cancellation appointment. It's so hard isn't it? But once you get the fill it will get better!

I just had an adjustment, the Dr took out 1cc & now I can drink liquids with no pain. Being too tight is horrible!!!!

  4. Hey March Peps!

Hope everyone is doing well! My scale isnt moving much' date=' kind just yo yoing..

I had my first fill last Wednesday and am going in for another asap! I have 14 cc band, they put in 3 ccs on top of the 3 that were in there, i feel a little difference, but not what i know i would if it was the "green zone"

Im working at being better at this everyday! Get my but to the gym and make the right food choices, story of my life!! How are you all feeling about your first fills??[/quote']

I just had my first fill on 2days ago. I already had 3cc, and felt only a slight restriction, so the DR put in another 3, but I feel so tight, and thought it was normal yesterday but this morning I couldn't drink Water so I'm going in for an UN-fill today. I think I will just go with 4cc. It's a horrible feeling being too tight, like I'm being strangled.

I've been getting back in the gym &feel so much lighter and more energetic! I've lost 22 lb since pre op diet. No-one has commented on my weight loss...My jeans are hanging off me, I look ridiculous! Maybe they are being polite?!

  5. I'm scared too, I have my first fill this week. I had 2 amino tests when I was pregnant and it was horrible! I felt the needle pierce through my skin and it hurt so bad! How long is the needle In for? I'm nit squeamish about getting shots or blood tests normally but this terrifies me for some reason.

  6. I'm at 4weeks post op and last time I weighed myself last week I also was down 20lbs. Pretty exciting ! But I have found my hunger has increased ferociously the last few days. I used to be satisfied or even too full with 2:5oz tuna with 2 wheat thins, now I'm hungry 1 hour later for more. I have to wait 3 weeks till I get a fill.

    60lbs to goal weight!!!!!!

    Good job everyone!

  7. I love this thread, I am also struggling with my head hunger big time. I'm seeing my pcp next week and will ask him if he can recommend a counselor who specializes in eating disorders. My pcp is also a bandster so he will understand. My problem is I want to binge on sugar, candy, chocolate etc... I stand in front of the fridge and kitchen cabinets, my empty cookie jar and I don't understand these feelings of wanting to eat but being physically unable to is so hard. It's very confusing. I'm not always able to leave the house for a walk or easily distract myself, but I am trying so hard....

  8. Hi Everyone :) Banded on March 21st and starting to feel a lot better. I'm starting the mushies stage' date=' finally ditching the Soup broth! Any good ideas/recipes for this stage?

Also, one other question. When does this port pain subside a bit? I have post-op in about two weeks and a little scared that if it is still this tender, how can I get a fill?[/quote']

I'm 3 weeks post op and still have sharp.port pain. I guess because I have a toddler and am constantly picking him up and carrying him around! I think with rest &no heavy lifting it would heal faster.

During the mushy stage I loved avocado with a drizzle of olive oil, grits with a little low fat cheese, home made fruit purees mixed with Greek yogurt....

  9. My current stage is the mush super soft foods. Cream soups' date=' farina, pudding, etc. I actually can't wait to have a salad! I have had a few foods that weren't on the list this week but all has been well. I have been listening to my body and figuring out the new signals to listen to. Monday will be 4 weeks post surgery so I can move into another stage of more solids. How are things with you?[/quote']

I'm good, 3weeks post op. I eat a hard boiled egg and a little soft fruit for Breakfast, lunch is either a smoothie or Protein shake, dinner I have a salad which tastes great, I put Olive oil on, and a veggie patty or chickpea patty. I dice my salad pretty small, pepper skins are hard to chew though. I also have a sugar free fudgcicle (40 cal) or fruit popsicle. If I dare snack between meals it messes up my appetite for my main meals so I avoid it.

I use regular milk in my coffee, I hate the taste of skim milk! I think I can afford the calories because I'm barely getting 700 in.

I cannot eat chicken, it gets stuck, I'm scared to try meats again, maybe in a few weeks.

Glad to hear you are doing well!

  10. I feel like any meat will result in this horrible stuck feeling. I'm scared to touch meat again! I also took a small bite of pizza, and that got stuck too, I felt like I chewed it enough... same thing happened with a whole wheat waffle. Any other foods I should avoid ?

  11. I'm almost 3weeks post op, so.I've only been on solids (hesitantly )5days. When foods get stuck, does it feel like it is stuck at the base of your throat? I got this feeling with chicken. I tried drinking Water to help it go down but it didn't help &I felt uncomfortable for about 2 hours!

  12. I'm 17days post op, I'm trying so hard to get enough calories down, I'm averaging around 700-850, I am losing, 18lbs since pre op diet. I'm having low fat, not non fat foods and drizzling Olive oil on some meals, I think it's important to keep some fat in your diet in order to lose.

I had my first piece of toast this morning with butter, it tasted so good! But I shouldn't have finished the whole slice, I feel the last few bites are stuck!

  13. I'm 3days post op today' date=' and feeling desperate to go #2 ð(dont feel like i need, but somehow feels like it would help with the bloating and gas..

I'm thinking about magnesia milk, but in afraid to have cramps.

    [/quote']

I didn't "go" for 3 days post op either, but on the 4th day it happened, it was also much easier to go when I stopped the prescription pain killers. Good luck!!!!
