  1. I have so much more food conscious since my surgery. I pay more attention to what kind of food is in my house. what my kids are eating and how much. I have been going through my cupboards and making single serving bags of cereal, oatmeal, grits I have written on the ziplock bags how much water to add and how long to cook it in the microwave. I made my own instant meals. I took my dehydrated refried beans, and instant mashed potatoes and have done the same thing with them. I plan on continuing this it has made it easier for my kids to decide what they want. it's made it easier for me to find something to make them. I hope that with doing this my kids will become more aware of there serving sizes. I got use to cooking for large groups of ppl. But i am learning how to cook for just my family and trying to not have leftovers and if i do i freeze them. I feel very productive again. I get to start eating soft foods tomorrow! I get so excited with each step I make. My weight loss has slowed this last week. but i know that's normal so i am not too worried. I am going to get me a note book that i can carry with me to write down all my foods. maybe that'll help to. I am still learning how to eat and i know it'll take some time. I have had to get a timer to time my dry meals i have a horrible habit of forgetting and taking a drink too soon and the timer has been awesome! This is the first year all my kids have been in school all day so it's different having the days to myself. keeping my self busy and away from food hasn't been too hard i seem to have a harder time at night after the kids have gone to bed. right now i am fighting the erg to go into the kitchen to find something.
  2. i only puree certain things others where never ment to be eaten that way lol i ate oatmeal with fruit with milk so it was soupy. grits and scrambled eggs. refried beans with cheese, mashed potatoes, SF pudding, SF jello, i've pureed swedish meatballs with rice, and spaghetti with sausage and ground hamburger and those were good! plus lots of veggies
  3. honestly i quit taking most of mine because of how horrible it tastes! i take the most important as for the rest my dr will just have to forgive me. hey if i loose enough weight i won't need them anyway!
  4. today was a better day not much pain at all thank goodness! i am going to continue taking it easy just in case.
  5. i tried to call my dr's office and couldn't get a hold of any one. and so i called the after hours number and the guy that answered was a moron! so i took my PR and have been laying down
  6. okay so i am almost 3 weeks post-op and still have a weight restriction of 15 lbs. and tonight my 6 yr old daughter threw a fit and i grabbed her by the arm and she tried to fall to the ground but since i had a hold of her i had her 47 lbs body dangling in my grip. Now my port area is in so much pain not even the pain reliever i have works. not sure what to do other than take it easy. i tried calling the hospital but they were no help.
  7. okay yesterday i asked for some of your Gauged foods. and no one knew what i was talking about. So i am going to ask again in a different way. What foods fill you up the best? Rice and Pasta's do not count. (and i want to stay away from potatoes) In order for me to get my first fill at 6 weeks i have to find my "gauged foods" foods that give me the best full sensation. I am suppose to start out measuring 1 cup at a time. if i am still hungry than get a 2nd cup food etc until i fill full. So what are some foods that fill you up the best? i've got chicken and refried beans
  8. i've found that if you keep moving you feel better. stopping would just give your muscles time to ache but if you continue you will heal faster and your muscles will get stronger. i would maybe just take your work out down some. if it hurts to bad, STOP.
  9. look it up on youtube they have a ton of videos
  10. have you thought of having gastric plication done? I watched a video a while ago where they did more than just a sleeve. they basically stitched the stomach so much that it gave the person a small pouch. like what you'd get with the band or bypass it's completely irreversible they don't cut anything or rearrange anything they just take the stomachs ability to stretch away.
  11. what fills you up the most all of the above? I totally get the southern thing my Mother married a yankee who took her from her home in GA and brought her to ID so i was raised on good southern food!
  12. I know it's weird right?! I haven't heard it before either. But he gave me a little hand out talking about it so I know I am not crazy! lol It just give you any ideas of what to try. just that i need to measure my meals 1 cup at a time. and find out what fills me up
  13. be careful with broth specially if you are sodium sensitive
  14. gauged foods are foods that give you a fuller sensation after eating them rice, pastas, and bread, even though they can give you the same sensation are not considered gauged foods. i'm not sure about potatoes. i'm sure they are looking for protein foods. like refried beans or chicken or fish etc. fish is not a gauged food for me at all! maybe now with LB it will be.
  15. the worst thing for me was my head. my thoughts and and obsession about food made things worse. find something to do when you start to think about food. if you are use to eating and watching tv get outside and go for a walk. go to the mall and window shop. look at clothes you want to fit into and imagine yourself in them. go visit family or friends. just do something! and soon thinking of food won't be a problem and you'll be okay with your shakes. and if your religious or believe in a higher power it never hurts to pray for a little bit of help.
  16. okay so in order for me to get a fill at 6 weeks i have to find my gauged foods and how much i need to feel full. i am still on mushies right now. but i go to soft foods on monday and would like some impute on what everybody else's gauged foods are. so i have an idea where to start.
  17. drink shakes high in protein and use SF Jell-o when you feel like you need a snack
  18. i don't even get a fill till 6 weeks and my band is empty
  19. i rotated my arms like wind mills because most of my pain was in my shoulders i also used a rice pack on my shoulders that helped pull out the gas
  20. for me... laying down cures my hiccups.
  21. I am 2 1/2 weeks post-op and i am down a total of 25 lbs and - 4 inches. i went into surgery on the larger side of a size 24. and just yesterday i pulled out my size 20 clothes! they are still a little snug because my stomach is still distended from swelling, i went from a 46D bra to my 42D bras i had in storage. but i must warn you everyone is different. some have lost more than me and some have lost a lot less. just stick to your dr's diet and instructions DON'T CHEAT. And you will do wonderful!
  22. i had the hiccups again again the other day and thankfully they didn't hurt! And burping has gotten easier, thankfully.
  23. thank you so much for your help. sunday i was still on liquids but didn't want to pass on the sacrament so i took a small piece and it went down okay but i have no fluid in my band and my swelling had gone down. but i worry about after i get a few fills in me. i know bread swells when wet. so i thought a crust piece would have been more of a recommend.
  24. i have a question for any LDS bandsters out there that will answer. It's about bread and the sacrament. I've heard a lot of people say they can't eat bread because it gets stuck. Has anyone had this problem? will it become an issue? I realize it's such a small piece to take in.
  25. i picked it up at wal-mart it's not the real fancy one. it was only $40 like i said but i love it!
