    Started Going To A Gym

Hey El CID, Congrats, 50lbs is a big milestone! Sounds like you have the right idea combining areobic and resistance training both are key to improved health and expedient weight loss. I suggest 7 days a week over 3-4 (if you ARE going to stick with 3-4, then pick one 3 or 4 be Specific - Committ) Think about it in terms of 30 workouts in 30 days then decide after the 30 days if you can/want to continue at 7 day pace - I bet you will ; ) resistance training remains at 3 days. Also add 5 minutes of stretching pick few keep them same. I love how specific you are regarding the treadmill - incline etc... I suggest you do the same with the weights - specific and measurable is hugely helpful. Additionally, a simple 3 ring notebook is a great way to record exactly what you do each day - example 2 sets 10 at x lbs. on weights, lighter weight more reps - up to 15 - is best always keeping in mind control and form should trump weight. Regarding the walk-areobic ... Take it to the next level ?? Get a heart rate monitor and work toward your rate of perceived exertion http://www.acefitnes....aspx?itemid=48 Good luck Hope in Your Future is Power in Your Present! Lee

    Walk

Anume, Congrats! Walking is an excellent form of exercise - especially if you "dig in" and track your progress - increase a little each time. Look at your speed as well as your distance - the combo is what matters. A great Free app is Mapmywalk - you take your phone on the walk and it tracks your speed and distance and maps it - even keeps your history so you can see your improvement. I found it was helpful to make sure my walk stayed "exercise" and didn't become a "stroll". Take it to the next level ?? Get a heart rate monitor and work toward your rate of perceived exertion http://www.acefitness.org/fitfacts/fitfacts_display.aspx?itemid=48 Good luck on your successful journey : ) Hope in your Future is Power in your Present! And Exhale

Hi Mimi Congrats on your courage to get the band ! I love that you are already so self aware - a good sign you will move toward your goal effectively. You have the right idea about focusing on short term goals to help offset what can be an overwhelming goal of dropping 200 lbs. People seem to think pain is the great motivator ... Well, pain may get us To the path But it's Hope that carries us Down the path to our Victory. My sister (single mom w/4 kids) has lost 180 lbs SO FAR http://www.300poundsdown.com/ and I have lost 230 so far and we both did it 30 seconds at a time. Success (Victory) isn't about doing extrodinary acts as some think ... It's about doing ordinary acts DAILY : ) We both did exercise DAILY - I would suggest that was Key - mentally even more than physically. It doesn't need to be 30 minutes - in fact that's quite a large number to start with for most people. Daily is more important - so 30 min x 4 days is 120 min per your plan. 7 days a week that's 17 min a day also add 30 seconds every day. You may find this benefits you more and moves you down the path faster : ) Hope in you Future is Power in your Present! Lee
  9. Thanks! I appreciate that : ) good luck
  10. Carolina girl, You can do it : ) have a specific measurable plan and take care of the items on your plan each day. People think losing 200+ pounds is about doing extraordinary things ... That's where they are mistaken - It's about doing ordinary things DAILY. You may find hope and humor I'm my sisters blog - she has lost 180 lbs so far and is a single mother of 4. http://www.300poundsdown.com/ Hope in your Future is Power in your Present! Lee

Am I the fattest one here?

Good morning CCornell87, I am glad to share with you my program and help you break out of the prison your body has placed you in. I am selecting two people to work with that have a BMI in the 60+ (just as I did and my sister). If you would like to work with me please send me a direct/private message with your email address and we will go from there. I am not trying to sell anything. I look forward to hearing from you : ) We got this! Hope in your Future is Power in your Present! Lee

Am I the fattest one here?

Hi Notsosure, I got the band 3 years ago and my BMI was 66. I also had COPD (lung disease) diabetes and high blood pressure among other things. My diseases are reversed - check out my profile. Slow n steady wins the race ... You totally get it! The band is an execellent tool and combined with a smart program of exercise will work. If you decide to move forward let me know and I can provide you with the exercise program I developed and used and then gave to my sister when she had her surgery. It's made for people that are pushing 70 or over on BMI. She has lost 180 lbs so far - this program combined with surgery WORKS. I am not selling anything - I am looking for another 60+ BMI-er to use my program and prove its benefits. Hope in your Future is Power in your Present! Lee H

    Complete Failure

This is the Plan I designed with oversight from certified trainers and mental health professionals for myself. At 430 lbs I needed something different that could carry me through to my goals which involved loss of pounds but also reversal of diseases induced by obesity and related physical degradation. It was HUGELY successful and allowed me to lose more weight and gain more physical benefits than any other patients of my surgeon. My sister (who had bariatric surgery about 15 months ago) asked me to give her the Plan and so we started her on it from day one. She has lost 180 so far and recieved major physical changes in endurance balance strength etc.., we are both pretty excited. "30 Seconds to Victory" is simply what I named it - based on its core principle that revolves around 30 seconds. Thanks Lee

    Cardio Vs Weigth Training

Hi Dino3, The short answer is you need both. This book is GREAT and written from an agnostic view not by someone pushing an agenda or product - I highly recommend it. I think it's like $10 bucks on Amazon. (it's kind of a long title lol) Which Comes First, Cardio or Weights?: Fitness Myths, Training Truths, and Other Surprising Discoveries from the Science of Exercise (Paperback) Alex Hutchinson Thanks Lee
