liquid trial
I am not required to do a pre-op diet except the day before surgery. HOWEVER, I have been doing 2 Protein shakes and 1 small meal to help prepare for the after math of surgery. Store bough broth's are really not all that great to me. So I have made turkey and chicken broth myself and I have the ability to feel like the flavor is satisfying. On Monday, I will cut out the small meal and just do the liquid part. So far, after doing this for 4 days, I am already down 5 pounds. I helps me keep motivation when I check the scale . Best of luck to you whatever road you choose to take.

Protein shake flavorings and recipes?
There are extracts that you can add to your protein's. A place called BJ's bariatrics online also sells a 12.95, 11 pack ( that you choose) samples of Protein by matrix. They have several different flavors too that you can try before you buy the large protein pack. Also, PB2 to just about any protein shake is amazing. Use unjury chocolate and add PB2 and its like a Peanut Butter cup. So many things to try.

What Will It Cost Me To Get Weight Loss Surgery?
I have insurance and will be paying my deductible of $300 for surgery + 20% of the cost at 1855.00, plus the doctor's fee of 2995.00. So about 4,900 out of my pocket. All together, totally worth it.

Any February 2013 Bandsters?
OMG... I feel that anxiety now and surgery is still a week away. I have decided to write my boys letters of love just in case and have been talking it through with my hubby. Still, I know that I am making the best decision for long term and that will technically keep me around my kids longer, but Got to get banded first. hang in there guys, we can totally do this!!!!

1st month of 6 month supervised diet
I too had a 6 month challenge before hand. The best thing I can tell you, is start putting different little things in place before you go for surgery. Things like.... 1: slowing down when you eat, and only with a fork... it looks a little weird to eat a burger with a fork, but it take you much longer and you get tired of the monotony of the food process. plus get the satisfied feeling. 2: Change you Snacks. Look up new Protein based snacks. Protein scones are one of my fav and super easy to make and keep you full for a while. Use this time as a chance for you to learn about what Vitamins you like, what protein types and brands you like, to not drink as much when you eat (go to smaller cup size). Give yourself a different challenge every month so that you don't take it all on at once. We will all be here to support your journey and struggles. I feel you pain and restlessness in the time constraint, but YOU CAN do this and you will. Cheers to your journey!

OK Ladies...Let's talk Boob's...
I know right! Just hopping to have a hand full. Maybe get rid of the bra strap indentation in our shoulders! Or maybe a cute bra with less the 4 hooks! It all sounds so distant and magical.

OK Ladies...Let's talk Boob's...
Agreed. We spend a lot of time working on our bodies. I would still like to feel like "the girls" are sexy post surgery too. No offence taken.

Anyone try not weighing themselves?
I plan on weighing myself every week for accountability reasons. Plus I will be ( as much as I don't want to now) will be taking weekly progress picture with the weight from every week. It's super hard for me know to take the pictures but I know that if I don't have that accountability and see what I have accomplished long term, I will get hung up on the small things. Weighing is so personal. Do whatever you think is going to be good for you and your success. Feel free to change as needed and keep us posted on your success. Cheers to the scale.

OK Ladies...Let's talk Boob's...
Any of you Ladies out their start this whole process with Larger Breasts or even with large breasts but have that weird bump on your back between your shoulders below your neck? I have struggle with both my whole adult life and have been working on posture for about 3 months now. Did anyone have a difference with breasts size post surgery and did they have a reduction in that bump behind their neck? Just curious if anyone else had any luck or result with this. Sorry if this post seems to forward . Thank you for the responses and support!

350 Pound Woman Falls Through Side Walk.....
It's insanely tragic, irresponsible and sever lack of character on the writers part. Shame on them for not having enough sensitivity and depth to not know that it was superficial and disrespectful to print something like that. I hope someone follows up with that lady and burns the neighborhood papers! So sad! Fast recovery to her

Pass the Small Fork...
Thank you everyone for your responses and support THank you! I am going to check out those divided plates. Someone else told me about the Binto Box's as well to help keep everything separated and portion sized out. I love the Chop Stick idea too! It helps to keep variety!

Question for those who completed 6 month supervised diet...
I am also grateful for the 6 month pre-diet. The food relationship changes and you get used to trying things a new way and with WAY LESS CARBS! I actually gone up and down a pound or too. Mostly, my Doc has said that the insurance company is hopping that your burn out in the 6 months and don't finish the process so the company doesn't have to pay. Stick with it. Try new Protein stuff in the food section here, it's help me branch out my protein/food options. Cheers

Pass the Small Fork...
Is anyone else out there using smaller utensils to help with portion and bite sizes? Does it help with time with your meals and did you just get the appetizer sized utensils? Feedback??? Is it worth it? Thank you in Advanced

No Pre-op Diet... Liver too big?
My doc has said that the pre-op diet just makes people miserable. Just keep involved with support groups and stay focused on you diet afterwords and fluids.
-
No artificial sweeteners...suggestions?
I have also been told that Extracts of items also help. From Almond to Vanilla, so many options to add to thigs. Plus, get a chicken from the store and after your fam eats it.. making your own homemade broth custom helps too. I too get tired of the sugar free, so extracts help.

Preop weight loss
It's weird how every doctor is different. My doc said the pre-op diet just makes people miserable and more irritable come surgery day. She said every little bit helps but most of all to stay positive before surgery and remember, its a tool afterwards. Best of Luck ...Cheers
