Got banded the 5th feel great no complications...shrinking daily! Still a little sore at incision sites and a lil bruising. Worst part was anesthesia, coming to and the first night. Otherwise everything is great!

I got banded on August 16th 2012. Its been just over a week since I got banded and I am looking forward to loosing the weight.
Pre-surgery
I will tell you that the first 3 days of the pre-surgery diet were hard and I was cranky as hell. Had to tell my wife to just let me be as the diet was really hard to get used to
If the pre-surgery diet was hard, the day before surgery with Zero calorie liquids was torture but I bore through it.
Over all though the pre-surgery diet was very good for me, I lost 18 lbs on it and it has got me motivated and was the perfect platform for me. My surgeon Dr. Braverman did tell me that my liver was not much larger than normal at time of surgery and looked good overall. It was very large when they did the ultrasound about 6 weeks before surgery.
Post-Surgery
I have been slowly adjusting to liquids and a little bit of soft foods. I did have a couple of cases where I tried soft foods too early and that did not sit well at all. I have lost another 2 pounds in the last 10 days and hope to start loosing more as I can get into predictable foods as well as exercising.

Surgery seems so far away at this point. I am going to stop any more research and just concentrate on getting as healthy and fit as I can before being banded. My mind right now is very tired from everything I have read leading up to my decision...lol
I am hoping the time will fly by.
I talked to the owner of my gym today and told her I was having an operation to repair an hiatal hernia. Didnt really want her to know about my band .(I am only telling my family and maybe a close friend.) The owner said when the time comes I can postpone my personal training sessions until I am ready to go back to them.
She also said I could postpone my gym membership as well but I told her I was still going to come in and use the treadmill and maybe the eliptical. I know we can walk after surgery so I want to use the treadmill as much as possible so I dont slip into the habit of not wanting to go to the gym.
Of course I will listen to my body and wont push myself to the point of exhaustion. Just dont want to get out of my routine.

I'm getting banded Sept 17th. So excited. Lots of things eager for but also definetly concerned as well!!

I have been 2 years attempting to meet the conditions of my insurance. After changing insurances and doing their requirements for 1 year I just got my approval August 16 and I went to my appointment for my Pre Op diet last week. Started it today, I have my appointment with the surgeon tomorrow, can't wait, will get my date that should be in next two weeks. I am so nervous and excited I can't stand it.

I am 71 and I just got my date Sept 14/ 2012 I am excited and happy don't know if i will be on a diet or not i have a dr. appointment sept.11/2012 do i have to diet 3 days before ?I am waiting for the letter with information .I am really excited .I will be healthy and off insulin. I want buddys .

I just found out I was approved by Fed BCBS...just waiting on the surgery date!
