  1. Most companies require employees to burn through their sick time and PTO when taking FMLA. Plus side to FMLA is being able to take short-term disability if your company offers it. Also, absolutely, it is a HUGE HIPAA violation to leak your medical info out, let alone against every company's policy.
  2. I think it would be abnormal to not have second thoughts or doubt about it. Surgery is a big deal. It's not a quick fix; you aren't going to "wake up skinny." As long as we do what we know we're supposed to do to be healthy it will be worth it.
  3. Those with Dr Atkinson: How soon after your consult did you get your surgery date? Jessie said ill meet with a surgery coordinator after my appt but I'm trying to work around the timeline of everything. Especially since I'm paying cash...
  4. I'm in LV and am seeing Dr Atkinson Friday for my initial consult!! I'm excited!!!!
  5. It is my understanding that doctors strongly recommend birth control for at least a year after surgery. Talk to your dr. I was on depo and loved it, but had to switch because its not for "long term."
  6. I love reading everyone's responses!!! Of course, mine are all similar. After doing some soul searching and after ready the responses, all my insecurities seem to be rising to the surface. I can't seem to stand up and walk around without pulling my shirt down. Just in a weird mood I guess. I know I have less than a month until my surgery and I'm glad these feelings are coming to the surface, but it sucks nonetheless.
  7. Limited duty for me is nonexistent... :/
  8. Ill hopefully see my surgeon next week!! Ill let you know!!
  9. I'm curious too. After surgery my job requires a lift test of 150lbs. I will hopefully see the surgeon next week and will ask then!! I lift people for a living... And it's rare to have someone under the 150 mark including equipment and stuff....
  10. I'm waiting for my initial too!!! The wait is killing me!! Lol
  11. Not cheesy!!! Awesome! I'll hopefully get my consult appt scheduled this week then it's usually just 2 weeks after that!!
  12. I'm in Vegas and I'm paying cash too! $11000 for me. Most of it is care credit which I can pay monthly....
  13. I do like reading your experience! I have a question if you don't mind.... Is the incision that's infected the one that hurt you so badly afterwards? Would your roomie or fiancé be willing to change your bandages if you're unable to? I'm in the medical field and even I get squirmish when it comes to myself!
  14. I did mine today and had no problems! Thanks for the response!
  15. Hi everyone! I just finished my 90 day nutritionist plan and am getting scheduled for my psych eval as well as my lab work. I'm just curious as to what kind of questions they ask during the evaluation. I know they ask about habits and whether there is any physical/sexual abuse in the past, but I'm curious to what other questions will come up? I guess like any "interview" I'd like to be prepared! Thanks! Nikki (Las Vegas if there is anyone else out there)
  16. I am in the same boat you are in. My doctor on Monday, however, hinted that HPN's PPO service (Sierra Health of NV) "MAY" begin to cover more of the bariatric procedures after October. He said to call around and check in October when the renewals start. He quoted anywhere from "2500-6000" out of pocket. Compared to the 11K that it is now, it is definitely more doable. Good luck!! I will definitely let those on here know when I know more!! In the mean time, I'm going to start saving some cash!!
