  1. I was banded in August, 2012. I did not hardly tell anyone before surgery. and a year later I am just now letting people know. I didn't want to hear there opinion, good or bad. I feel good and I know feel it is a good time to tell everyone. I have no regrets. When I am slacking it helps me to get my butt back to keeping on track again.

Good luck to each of you!

  2. I did not follow my Dr's orders to a T! I ate solid food with in two weeks. I ate very very small bites and the key was to wait 5-10 mts in between a few bites. You do NOT want to get to full! Its horrible. I took it easy and I was fine. But to each there own. Its hard for any DR or anyone to tell you what to do or not do when they have NOT had the procedure done. It is very different from the things they told me when I went through all the classes and seminars before surgery. You will do a lot of living and learning. The key is small bites, chew really really well and then wait! Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. I had a hard time right after surgery as well. i got really sick from the anesthesia and had to stay the night. Once I was home, I had horrible gas pains and Constipation. I finally had to get meds to help with the constipation. Once that passed I was great. I ate Jello pudding and Protein shakes. I got the vanilla and put bananas or Peanut Butter or strawberrys in. I like them with the fruit added. I almost second guessed my choice to have it done when it wasn't going like I thought it would right off the bat, but I have NO regrets. Best choice I have ever made. I had my surgery August 2012 and am down 84 lbs. Good luck to you!

  4. I understand! I did not hardly tell anyone i was having it done until two weeks after I had it. I didn't care what anyones thoughts were on it. Good or bad! I was doing it for me and thats the only opion I needed at the time. I had my surgery August of 2012. Best choice I have ever made for myself. Good luck with your surgery and your new adventure to being thinner! :D

  5. I have had my band since August of 2012. The best choice I have ever made. I do miss pizza from time to time and yes once in awhile I have a bite of my kids or my husbands. But can NOT eat more than that. It gets me over the crave of it though. Breads are not good for me nor is rice or Pasta. Every time I try to eat any of it I end up throwing it back up. So I don't but once in awhile I am still stupid and try a bite or two! Think I would learn!! I have lost 83 lbs and am very happy with the band. Its a great tool to help me. I do have a hard time eating any kind of fruit or veggies and beer or pork. I eat a lot of fish and chicken. If we go out to eat with friends I usually just get nacho's. It something I know will not make me sick. Not the healthiest thing to eat. But I do not like to be sick nor do I want to get sick with friends! I wish you all the best of luck with your band!

  6. Awesome! I had mine on 8/20/12 I am down 22 lbs. It was the best thing I ever decided to do. I had pain the first week. The more you can walk the better. I started at commercials I would get up and walk around my dining room table until my show started. I still have some problems bending over, but it is getting better. I am walking more and more every day and I am starting a Water aerobics class in a week. I get my first fill on Wednesday and am looking forward to it as I am hungry in between meals. Good luck to you. The hardest part is over.

  7. Hello,

I was not nervous! I was nervous about the surgery and the pain that can come with it. I was so "just ready" to have it done and lose weight that I could not wait. I had some pain but was got super sick from the anesthisia. I still eat some of the things I did. I just don't eat in between meals. If I do I have fruit! I did have a small reece's Peanut Butter cut the other day. No I didn't feel bad for eating it. I have lost 22 lbs since my surgery on 8/20/12. I now eat more healthier foods, I make better choices, but I still treat myself once in awhile to those bite size candies. Actually that is the first candy bite I have had in two months. Not bad, when that was something I would eat daily! I had a great friend that had the lap band done in 08' She lost a 140 lbs in 14mths and has kept it off and looks great. If she can do it I can, and I am so excited!

When I was going to have the surgery, I hardly told anyone. My husband, three of my friends and 3 co workers. Then after surgery I told everyone at work and my whole family. I didn't want to hear what anyone else had to say, good or bad. I was doing this for myself. I knew for me I was doing the right thing. And I am glad I did it! Good luck to you. Make the choice for you and no one else!

  8. I had lap band on 8/20/12 and know it was the right choice for me. I had a friend that had it done in 08' and she lost 140 in the first 14 mths. she has kept it off as well. You will have to make alot of choices. But alot are things that should have done years ago. I have no regrets with my band. I am down 22 lbs so far. I was sore the first week. I never needed any pain meds after the first two days. It was sore, but I could live with it. After surgery the more you get up and walk the better. I got up inbetween commercials and walked around my dining room table until my show was back on. Then I started on my treadmill. Slow and when i started to get sore or super tired I got off. Usually about 10 mts to start at. Now I am up to 25 mts and I am walking faster then I started. I am also starting my Water aerobics class a week from tomorrow. I am super excited about it.

I have not know anyone that wished they would not have had the lap band. Good luck to you.

    Vicky

  9. Good for you! I wish I had done something years ago, but insurance would never cover the surgery. I didn't have the money to proceed to have it done. I recently have insurance that would cover it and started the process. My lap band was 8/20/12 so far I am down 22 lbs and I get my first fill next week.

  10. Hello,

I had my surgery on August 20, 2012 I am down 22 lbs. It was the best thing I have ever decided to do. It is life changing, but for the good in my eyes. I am a wife and a mother of two. You will feel better about yourself once you start to lose some weight. Good luck to you and keep me posted.

  11. Hello,

I was in the same boat you are in. I had my surgery on 8/20/2012 so far I am down 20 lbs. I had a rough start because i was sick from the anesthesia. Now that, that is out of my system I feel great. I go for my follow up on Tuesday and can't wait to see what my Dr. has to say. I DO NOT regret having the band at all. It will be life changing, but I am so ready for it. Good luck to you!

  12. At first my husband was a little distant about my surgery, but I think more was money. He had just had some kidney surgery and we had bills coming in from all his dr.'s. But we had a long talk one day and he got on board and has been great since. But I was determined I was going to do this with or without my families support. As far as candy etc. I gave it up a month ago along with dt. coke. I haven't really missed either. I had my lap band on August 20th. So far down 13 lbs. Hang in there, be strong for yourself.
