  1. I had the lap-band placed with Dr. Nicholson and he does revisions and removal and he is an awsome Dr. honeslty I trus thim 110% he is not at all demeaning he even shared with me that he is a cry baby when he is the patient and he sees a needle he said you have to " chase him down" lol!!! he has his Nicholson Clinic in Plano and at Park forest hospital ( or the other way around Forest Park ) in Dallas. Thatst were I had my surgery. He has beenn named top Dallas Doctor by D magazine for the last five years. not to mention his staff adore him. I recommend him I really do. Good luck!!

  2. Thanks girls!! I really appreciate your input it makes me feel like i'm not the only crazy one lol!!! I guess it is what it is. Th ething is that I have tried everything in the past and this is really my last shot at gettin git right and I have heard the first six months are crucial so I want to take full advanage. I weigh myself everyday because I have learned something about myself lately I lose weight fast and "easy" but I also gain it back doubley as easy. I'm giving it my all and as on eof you girls stated above I think I wont be happy until I reah goal or close to it I guess. As far as praise goes I find it hard to accept as well because i'm still pretty big I don't think you can really tell so soemtimes I think people do it just to be nice. Anyway thanks alot, an dgood luck on ya'lls jouneys as well =)

  3. Hello everyone, Well I strated my pre-op on Aug. 8 got banded on Aug.21. I weighted myself this morning and all in all I have lost a total of 54lbs. =) I saw my doctor 12 days ago when I had lost only 46lbs and he said I'm doing wayyy bettter than most lap-band patients so did my dietician said that. I started a 30 day challenge on Oct.2 to lose 20lbs this month and I only have 7lbs to go which oviously i'm on track. So why is it never enough for me? like i'm happy for a few hours when I lose a pound and when it flactuates to a few more ounces the next day I freak out!! iknow I should not weight myself everyday but I feel if I don't I will gain the weight back. I know i;m doing awsome I know that!! but why do I keep pushin gmy self harder and harder each day, why i'm i just not content with my awsome progress? I know i been in depression for a while but honestly I thought I was getting better when I started losing the weight but for the last three days have been awful. I don't know whats going on with me =( I try to be psitive most of the time but tday I just can't seem to be able to do it. why is it never enough?

  4. It's not goal, but I the changes between that girl in pink and the me I am today Is amazing!!! 45 pounds doesn't just feel like 45 pounds it feels like things lifted off of me, feels like coming out of the fog of depression and anxiety. 45 pounds feels like self discovery. 45 pounds doesn't feel like embarrassment to walk into a room of strangers. 45 pounds feels like self love. I am so worth 90 more!! I'm ready to kick some serious butt! I'm never ever going back to that 270lb girl!

Wow! I can sooooo identify with what you just said it's amlost like I said it myself and i''m waaaaayyyyy bigger than you but 53lb have come off and I feel so much better I even think look good lol!!

  5. Hi sweetie a big howdy from Texas ;-) lol!! Well the olny thing I can ell you is something a teacher of mine told me once "If in doubt.. Don't" surgery is not for everybody. I'm 25, single, and not dating. Yes it scares me to have the extra skin that I will have because i'm just too big. Some pleople if they ar not that big don't have as much and can tone it up to a good point. Even if you lose weight without surgery saggin skin can happen too. Also alot of it depends on your genetics if you have good skin genes or not. If you are not completely miserable right now then maybe you should not lose the weight ( unless you are unhealthy). Me I was beyond th edge of desperation and I still have a really long way to go but i am much happier now =) Good luck and any question you have feel free to ask =)

  6. First of all congrats!!! hope you feel better soon =) I'm mexican so after beef and chcken broth were not cuttin it I resorted to Bean broth lol!! try it!! its good and it has alot and I do mean alot of Iron. I persoanlly to all of my broths I put a piece of jalapeno made them get spicy and then pull it out =) or get those maruchan noodles cook whatever flavor you like and just drink the broth put some lime ;-)

  7. Hi there!

girl I can't stand Protein Shakes either and i'm six weks post- op. However i'm doing this 30 day challenge that requires me to drink Protein shakes almost every day at least 2 times a day. I had a vanilla from GNC also woemens ultra mega active something something. I hate vanilla beyond believe, but think I bought it because I was sick of the chocolate one hahahaha!! Anyway I did some research and all the reviews pointed out to the Jay Robbs protein shakes as the best tasting ones. I just bought the strawberry one and let me tell you it's not half bad I actually like it =) and i'm taking it rigth now the Protein Shake mixed and blended with maplebrownsugar ( weight control packet) oeatmeal I forgot to put some ice but it's still not bad =) if you keep the vanilla put some coffee ( well maybe for you Decaf would be better), ice, and two packets of splenda I promise it will taste better =)

  8. Had a challenging week after having unexpected gallbladder surgery on Friday but I'm checking in at 180.1lbs this week.

ouch!!! that was definately a rough week I had my gallbladder removed in 12/03 and after that I had to run to the restroom like three times with my first meal or even if it was just a bite =( 1 out of 10 ppl get this I was the unlucky one =( hope i snot you case but afte rmy lap-band six weeks ago that problem is gone!!! yey!!!! I hope you feel better soon!

  9. Sweetie, i'm 5'4- first Dr. appointment on 7/26/12 I was 445lbs, strated my pre-op diet on 8/7/12, and was banded 8/21/12.

On my pre-op I lost 17lbs, two weeks post I lost 12lbs, then i strted eating "normal" and I lost only 7lbs in 3 weeks. I freaked out because I thought i was getting getting off track ( as it turns out losing 1-2lbs a week is normal fo ra bandster) But have so much weigh to lose that I needed way more so I did ketosis for 3 days an dlost 6lbs, and teh a couple of days later I started my 30 day challenge today is my 8 day in it with a 2 days only liquids because I had my first fill. I exercise one hour five times a week now andI drink a gallon of Water a day and today it's oficially 2months since I started my Journey and i'm 395lbs exactly 50lbs down!!! It can be done youjust have to help your band help you. Remebr its a tool is easier to diet becaus eyou are not hungry all the time and if tou are like I was last week it's becuase you need a fill. You area guy and guys tend to lose weigh faster so don't be discouraged. Remebr if you ever get stuck ina rut just get your body in ketosis mode for 3 dyas and you will be back on track =) Major luck ok.

  10. No i'm not doing weight watchers, but I totally agree with you helping you band help you. I got banded on august 21 2012 so i'm fairly new at this but right now i'm on this super healthy 30 days challenge, plus one hour exercise 5 times a week, and a gallon of Water a day and I lost 9lbs in 5 days no lie =) before that I had done 3 days of ketosis ( 6lbs in 4 days)because I thought I was off track because with my dieticians diet I had only lost 7lbs in 3 weeks ( which people told me that was about what lap-band patients lose each week 1-2lbs a week). I started at 445lbs. My pro-op diet started august 8, surgery was august 21, and i'm now 395lbs =). I had done thi schallenge before and it's really healthy but it was really hard for me to follow, with my band now it is really ok. Basically use you your tool ( band) to your advantage
    ;-)
    GOOD LUCK!

  11. Well what works for soem people don'r work for others so I guess it's goin to be a live an learn experience but you love each other ( I hope lol!) so half the battle is already won. I do agree with ajtexas0 don't make it a competition beacuse one he is going to win lol!! for soem reason guys tend to lose faster than us girls ( I hate them lol) Two that would only mak eu bitter =( so maybe just maybe if you do it at different times that can actually be prevented because you two would be at different stages and if you are competitive you get it don efirst so you have a head start ;-) ( omg! look at me being all evil and sneaky lol) also who is going to help you out guys? The first few nights I needed help turning on my own bed. Just think about it seetie ok. Major luck to you and your hubby =)
