    Eating Too Much?

My doc says it takes 18 months for your stomach to be completely healed and the further you get from your surgery the more you are able to eat. I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and can stomach about 3 ounces at a time but eventually it will be 1 cup and then 1 1/2 cups. It's not that your stomach is "stretching" it's just that it's settling into the new groove of things!
  2. I am so glad I found this thread!! I was sleeved oct 22 and have lost 7 pounds so far, only 7??? And everyone else I see with the same day is talking about how happy they are at 20 + pounds down! I decided to get a friend to hide my scale from me do I will stop obsessing and getting depressed about it! I thought I wa the only one but I'm glad to see other people in similar situations
  3. I am only 20 and got sleeved on the 22nd. I absolutely think that it should be encouraged at a younger age. I had heard about wls when I was 16, and I think when you are so young you're afraid to be judged by your peers. I am so happy to get this done early to enjoy the rest of my life being healthy

    Going Back To Work

I got sleeved oct 22, originally told my boss I needed at least one week off. Was sleeved on a monday, came back the next Tuesday. On Wednesday I was very nauseous and weak, had to leave early and take the next day off too. I had unrealistic expectations about recovery, I think. I've had a much harder time than I expected, but I expected i would be good as new in about a week so that is pretty unrealistic haha. Everyone is different, some have no problem going back in a week while I on the other hand have really struggled. Just listen to your body and take it easy. Congrats on this new adventure!

    Pre Op Diet Day 3

My first few days were like that too! Don't worry though, youve got a week and a half still! I did a 7 day and my day of surgery I was down 13 pounds. I was freaking out too, I would weigh myself on two different scales to see if they read the same, which they did, but the doctors scale weighed me at 5 lbs less than my own! Talk about unwanted stress. Speaking of, calm yourself down- my doc says major stress can influence weight loss. You will do great!

    Your "large" Incision?

Mine is on my right! It's about 2 inches long, if that. 5 incisions total, all others less than an inch!

Anyone Else Have A Goal Size?

I would be over the moon in a 10/12! I too am tall (5'10) and I've always been big so I'm interested to see what the heck I'll even look like that small!
  10. send me an email and I'll add you! Whitney Lade
  11. Dont worry you'll do great! I had mine Monday and the only thing I'm dealing with is minimal soreness at the incision sites. I'm sure you've been told this by everyone on here but after surgery, walk as soon as possible! As soon as they put me in my room I got up and walked down the hall, then walked 2 more times that day and had no gas pains whatsoever! The pain is not so bad and they pump you full of painkillers you're asleep most of the time anyways! Good luck everyone, this is going to be so worth it!

    Feeling Tired On Líquid Diet...

I am experiencing the same thing! This is my last day (surgery tomorrow) and the past few days I have taken ridiculously long 4 hour naps! I think it's the change in calories- don't know what your plan is but I've only been getting about 400 - 600 cal/day and I have been a cranky sleepy mess! You're almost to the end! Good luck!
  16. Started my 10 day pre-op liquid diet today! Made a big mistake of getting a big tub of chocolate flavored "Gladiator" from smoothie king without testing it out first. I am NOT a fan! Any suggestions of other brands or what you did that tasted decent enough? It's 11 am of day one and I'm already complaining haha Thanks!

    Pre-Op Liquid Diet

Has anyone had luck with a dissolvable protein powder? I bought what I thought was dissolvable, put it in broth, it all foamed up at the top and hardened...assuming it had to be kept cold? Who knows! Now I'm on the lookout for something unflavored and truly dissolvable!
  18. Hey I'm scheduled for the 22nd too! As the days go by it does get easier but man was that first day rough. I get hungry throughout the day so I started sipping throughout the day on protein shakes rather than drinking it all at once, that has been a huge help and keeps me not so hungry throughout the day! Keep me posted on how you're doing, surgery buddy!
  19. Whitney Lade on Facebook! Love the idea of this... Set for oct 22

Hi there! Tried the gladiator with milk today, it was better but still unpleasant just bought a sample pack of the syntax nectar, hoping to test that out tomorrow! I'm really having a hard time with this liquid diet, I feel so cranky and tired, can't wait til monday to get this show on the road!

    Advice Wanted

I originally went in for my consultation hell-bent on getting lap-band. My doc told me they aren't really reccommending lapband because more than half of their patients have had some sort of complication with it like leaks in various places. He said to take into consideration the fact that what is being placed is a device, and something could always malfunction with it whereas the sleeve is a procedure within your body so it has a better chance. I am now pro-sleeve all the way, get it done the 22nd. There is a lapbandtalk site like this one you may want to ask the same question on! Also- the band takes different fills to get the restriction you need, which at my doc is $200 per fill and it takes several fills for most to get the right restriction. This is just something to consider before you make a big choice! Kudos to you for being smart about it and asking questions! And good luck in whatever you decide!

    Baby Silverware

I've been trying that too! Getting sleeved on the 22nd. I also decided to get some cute cups and saucers to eat off so it won't be a big plate with a tiny bit of food on it when I get to solids
  23. I've been on the fence about this too. I haven't really told anyone other than family and my boss. I think the "what if I fail" thoughts and judgmental comments have kept me from telling friends, but I feel like once I am successful in losing weight I will be way more open about having the surgery! I wish you all good luck on your weight loss journey!
