  1. Hi yeah I have this problem since I was banded. I thought at first it was because the band was too tight but I have slowly over the months continually had fluid removed to the point where I believe I now only have one ml of fluid left in the band, which according to my doctor shouldn't be giving me much restriction at all. I'm in OZ so I'm not sure what you mean by upper GI but I did have an X-ray which apparantly showed nothing wrong. I just find it hard to believe how much trouble I'm having when I read people on here being able to eat most things, just slowly. To answer one of your questions yes I can get stuck on liquids. Not as bad as food but it does happen. And when I get stuck I mean really stuck. Pain in my chest like I'm having a heart attack lol and slime really thick. Sometimes when it happens I even get the heaving motion like my body is trying to vomit. Getting very over it and find myself more often than not regretting my decision to be banded in the first place.
  2. Hoping I can get some advice here. I have had ongoing problems with my band and not being able to eat anything substantial. Long story short I have had almost all fluid taken out, have had X-ray to make sure band is in place and working properly and I still struggle to eat anything. Everything seems to get stuck so I find myself relying on protein shakes and the like?? Not sure what else to do???
  3. So not sure if this is normal but pretty much 90% of what I eat gets stuck no matter how slow I eat. Have even had Soup get stuck and find that I feel quite nauseated most of the time. Called my doc and they said he is away for two weeks and can't get an appointment with his replacement. Getting so frustrated!!
  4. I'm 3 weeks post op today and my incisions look good from the outside however I have noticed that I have a huge lump under my port scar. Is this normal?
  5. Ok so I was two weeks post op yesterday, obviously I have no restriction, can eat and drink normally without any need to chew chew chew and am surviving on sheer willpower to not hit the nearest McDonaldas lol. Needless to say I'm hungry hungry hungry so unless my Dr is playing silly buggers and just told me he put the band in I'm guessing I'm in what you all refer to as bandster hell??? Either way it sucks and I don't get a fill for another 5 weeks!!! Grrrr
  6. Hi wise people, I'm 11 days post op and have been waking in the night with what feels like like a mix of intense hunger and reflux. Also I only get left shoulder pain at this time too? Is this normal? Any suggestions on how to fix?
  7. Ok guys so I'm one week banded tomorrow and just want to make sure I'm on the right track. I've notices people at a similar stage to me describe that they are still very sore and not able to consume much? I'm the opposite. I'm up and about my daily duties without much discomfort and quite hungry. Whilst a Protein shake satisfies me during the day first thing in the morning I'm starving. It's 8.25 in the morning and so far I have had a coffee, tea and now on my second glass of a strawberry, banana, yougurt and skim milk smoothie! Is it normal to be this hungry in the morning and is the smoothie the kind of thing I should be drinking?
  8. Model, I was recently banded in Hobart by a great surgeon Dr Stephen Wilkinson. I went to see him about the ballon initially and ended up going with the band. I imagine he would be more sympathetic to your situation as I like you didn't have a huge amount of weight to lose. My BMI when banded was 28 and I have 22kgs to lose until I reach goal weight. He was understanding and has no issues as he agreed that this was just as much about weight loss for me but also weight management. Might be worth a call and could save an overseas trip. Good luck

    Who Left The Gate Open?

You know what I really think you might be right! Thank god I found this forum. Mine sent me home with no pain meds. I'm guessing this isn't the norm??

    Any Buddies For Australia

Was banded on Tuesday! Feeling pretty crappy today. What about you?
  11. I've notices on this and some other discussions that people at a similar stage to me ( 5 days post op) discussing there need/not need to use their pain meds. Can I ask some of you what pain meds you were sent home with and the length of time your doc said you would need use of them? As I said before I am 5 days post op and was sent home with NOTHING!! I've been suffering in silence and am beginning to think my doc is just plain mean
