  1. So i called the hospital I want my surgery at, John T. Mather, and they said they didn't accept my medicaid/fidelis insurance, but they wouldn't take me anyway because i'm 16 T_____T. Saddest day ever, but I'm going to call another hospital in riverhead they referred me to, and if not that one, a special adolescent bariatric surgery center in the city. (I really don't want to go too far away :<) Whats the difference between now and two years when i'm 18? Nothing! thats what. Maybe i'll be sicker then -sigh- im in a depressed mood

    -Sniff- Double Rejected!

    -Sniff- Double Rejected!

yeah, my moms helping me with all the stuff.& age is but a number!
  4. So many people complain that they don't like protein shakes but i just love them so much. I really do lol. Especially chocolate spirulina. I can't believe something so delicious is healthy! Its just like having a smoothie . maybe you guys don't like the incontinence ? but i have this blender bottle thing with a little whisk ball inside that mixes the drink for you really nicely and is easy to clean so you guys should try that. Seriously though how can you not like protein shakes!
  5. well i'm pre-op but i could never imagine hating something I love so much! i like whey powder too . I usually only buy the ones from vitamin shop. I never tried that isopure stuff. Can I drink protien shakes on the pre-op diet?
  6. Hey there, well i'm getting all my pre op stuff out of the way for surgery, and i haven't told my dad or sister, just my mom and one of my friends. I don't really want to tell anyone, not because i'm ashamed just because i don't want to be the poster child for wls. i feel like my sis and dad are very judgemental but people are eventually going to notice me not eating that much sooner or later. What do you guys think i should do? I was thinking about telling people im getting back surgery because technically this is for my back pain mostly but then again maybe i just shouldnt say anything at all? I feel like most people have the wrong idea about wls and are too quick to judge. Were you guys open or secretive about your surgery

    11 Hours And 34 Minutes

I think a nap would be good for you. My mom had surgery (not wls) and had to stop eating before midnight which made her really grumpy& thirsty. When she went under anestesia she was combative and tried to fight the doctor apparently, she needed 3 nurses to hold her down and kept trying to get up and leave even though she just had major surgery. I've fasted many times because of ramadan (which is actually this month!) so quick tip to keep that from happening. drink a whole water bottle, but make sure you have room for a cup of milk. milk keeps you from getting thirsty the next day for some reason. dried fruit is great also
  9. im worried about that to, but because i've had depression before i know exactly what it feels like. if it does happen which i doubt, ill get help before it gets a chance to do anything major. I think you should too. Depression starts off as you not feeling like doing anything anymore, you just don't have the motivation you used t.o you feel like meeting up with your friends is too much to deal with so you avoid it. You have to nip it right there before it starts getting serious (a great cure for depression is lots of exercise)
  10. Let me just tell you, when i read the title of your thread i was like "WHACHU MEAN HE CHANGED HIS MIND?!?!? YOU SHOULD SLAP THE FOO" my inner voice is kind of ghetto lol. But seriously? what a coward hiding behind his nurse. You should confront him about it,but then again maybe you shouldn't waste your time. People like that are so annoying they think some chemicals will somehow make you drop 100 pounds (without killing you) yeah not gonna happen
  11. I know right? It's like i'm sick of being fat already is that so bad? 16 years of chubbiness, and constant dieting I'm simply done with that because it doesn't work. I don't need all sorts of fancy reasons to get this surgery. No i'm not scared at all, i need this surgery yesterday!

    Emotionally Abusive Mother :(

Well my mother was also emotionally abusive to me she had all kinds of anxiety problems, bi polar disorder on top of it, and refused to take her meds so living with her was pure hell for most of my life. I kind of learned to deal with it like, tip toeing around her that kind of thing. She also did that thing where shed talk about how horrible i was to my aunts/uncles on the phone really loud so I could hear. I think the most important thing I learned is to put my feeling before hers. If you feel shes abusive, and you've talked to her, and she still won't change her ways you need to do whats right for you and your life. Don't worry about your dad he'll get over it, your mom may realize having you in her life is a privilege not a right and change her ways, but if not oh well. Don't worry about her, when the time comes you can forgive her but for now i'd work o getting out of that house asap like get a job and start saving up, or really anything.Being in that environment isn't healthy because after a while you may stat to believe the things your mother says
  13. Thats nice that you told her, I think you need the support of at least one person who's really close to you. Even if she doesn't want you to have it she'll prolly visit you and be there for you
  14. I knew you'd say that!Yeah I am going to tell him before I have the surgery, and I think we have a pretty decent relationship, it's just the culture my dad comes from is very conservative, thats where we always have our disagreements lol. I think its because we're both aries so we clash alot. My mom is the complete opposite of him shes really new aged. I started considering it, and told her how important it was to me to be healthy and she decided to support me on it.I'm not sure he'll say no, but there's a good chance, and i don't want to deal with that before i even have my surgery date.

    Type 1 Diabetes

Hey there, part of the reason im getting this surgery is because of my risk for type 1 diabetes. My dad got it in his early 20s hes 50 now and pretty much doesn't care about his health anymore because he figures he's gonna die early anyway:( I don't want to be like that and neither should you! We need to eat healthy due to our special circumstances

    Got Approved!

hey congratz thats great I wish you smooth sailing from here on
  18. thanks for all your opinions you guys, i think i finally made my decision, I'll tell my two best friends, and if someone who i really trust asks me ill also tell them. Other people ill just say i went on a medically induced diet which is not a lie. I know I have to tell me father because I am under 18 (im 16) but i'll only tell him when i get my surgery date, even if he doesn't agree with me, he can't stop me, my parents are divorced and my moms the one who has insurance for me. I won't tell him what hospital its at or w/e deets because even though I respect my parents, at the end of the day its still my body and i have to make the choices that will affect me for the rest of my life. At least I think so
  19. ooo that sounds like a great idea, im defiantly buying a juicer post op!

    Medicaid Child Health Plus

i feel like i should add that my dad is a type 1 diabetic and so was my great uncle. My grandmothers both had breast cancer one died at 30 the other survived. I don't know if family history will help with anything though
