For Those Who Self Paid For Surgery

I went to the seminar and called the office 3 days later. When I told them I was in we set my surgery date then. I was shocked it was that fast. Scheduled my Pre-op and then a week later I'll have surgery. I had no consultation which I thought was weird.

    Help Please!!

I'm 25 and get banded on sept 14. I was so scared to tell anyone I was even thinking about the band. Unlike u I am surrounded by overweight people, except for one of my sis who has never worked out and is so tiny even after two children. When I told my fam they just said,"you know what u need to do to loose weight. Diet and exercise. Just do it." even my best friend who is overweight said this to me. After they have witnessed me being depressed about my weight for the past year and genuinely trying and failing to loose weight, they are supportive. I have asked them not to really tell anyone else. Just don't need the extra judging eyes coming my way while I am going to be working hard at loosing.

    Getting Started

Having a workout buddy is what keeps me going to the gym. If you don't have a workout buddy try Workout classes, like Zumba or aerobics. Your bound to meet workout buddies there and Zumba is so much fun! You don't even feel like your working out.

    The Date Is Set, 9/14!!

Thanks slim&sexi. Hls50 I have to do a 2 week sugar busters diet. Basically meat veggies and fruit. No added sugar at all. I'm glad my doc does the sugar busters cause the clear liquids Pre op sounds brutal. I'm doing clear Liquids for a week post op. you'll def have to keep me posted!!
  7. Just set my surgery date. Super nervous and extremely excited at the same time. Has anyone had the lapband for greater than 5 years on this forum? I've been researching long term effects of lapband recently and it has caused me to have some second thoughts. Some of the data out there is disturbing. But I have a feeling that having a BMI classified as morbidly obese will cause me much more harm in the long run. Ready to be healthy!!

    Lapband For My 24Th Birthday

I also am doing this as a gift for my 25th. It is a very expensive gift that hopefully will pay off in he long run. I'm looking at it as an investment for my future

    Nervous

Just scheduled my surgery for Sept 14. I am Having a lot of anxiety about the surgery because it is a lot of money and such a huge decision. It's something's I've been thinking about for years though. I am a self pay and I am worried about complications I may have years to come possibly with the band. My Dr's office said if I have complications down the line insurance doesn't pay. Anybody have any experience with this?
  11. I haven't had the surgery yet. Went to a seminar in Macon, GA and was quoted $11,990. This includes unlimited free fills afterwards. Still contemplating whether or not to go through with this. I have a lot of anxious feelings, but bottom line I want to be healthy for once in my life.
