This Is Really Going To Happen! :)
I'm getting so excited. Even though the process seems so long, now it's getting closer and I can believe it's really going to happen. My last appointment with my PCP will be on November 5th, and everything will be ready to submit to the insurance company then. I'm getting so nervous and excited all at the same time! My husband said to me the other day "I'm so happy for you! It's going to be nice to see you not feeling so depressed and going through all the torture anymore". He has watched me through all the yo-yo dieting and depression over the last 20+ years. I'm so grateful for all his support. I just don't want to live like this anymore. I can't wait to start living instead of just existing! I can't wait to want to be around people again and do things with my kids without worrying about how bad my knees and back will hurt. I can't wait for so many things!!! I just had to get all that out, Lol. This site is so awesome knowing there is other people out there who know exactly what I'm feeling and going through.

1St Consult With The Surgeon.
Im at the beginning of this process too. I had the consultation with the surgeon last Friday and saw my PCP yesterday for the end of my first month of the "supervised diet". I have my sleep study test on the 28th this month and am hoping to have the surgery in December too (especially since my deductable has been met for the year). Now that things are finally starting to move along, I'm like omgosh! this is really gonna happen!! I am so excited and nervous at the same time! Good luck to you and I hope things go smoothly through this whole long process. That's what I'm praying for right now. . . . . . .

Any Advice On How To Quit Smoking?
omgosh I am overwhelmed and very thankful for all the advice I have received. It was the initial paperwork from the surgeon that said I have to be smoke free for 2 months before the surgery. Reading about everyones experiences has definitely tamed my freak out. It was just the initial shock that was hard to deal with. I have been given alot of suggestions and will probably ask for the chantix script. thank you all so much. i am loving the support!

2 More Sleeps!
Omgosh! You are not a "nutjob", you are normal!! Surgery is always a very scary thing. The anticipation is always worse than the actual surgery. Once you go to sleep, it's like you wake up in the very next second! So don't think about what is going to happen when you're out because it doesn't even feel that way. It's so crazy, one minute your looking in the surgery room and the next your awake in recovery. It will be over before you know it and it will all be worth it. Let me know how you did when your back at home. I bet you'll say it wasn't as bad as you thought it would be.

Any Advice On How To Quit Smoking?
I'm still very early in the process and don't see the surgeon until September 7th. I just got my packet in the mail and had no idea I had to quit smoking 2 MONTHS prior to surgery! I thought it would more like 2 WEEKS!. Now I'm in total panic and scared I won't be able to do it. I need a plan fast! Any suggestion?!?!

First Appointment With Pcp For 3 Month Diet
I have my first appointment with my PCP for my 3 month medically supervised diet on Thursday August 9th. Do I make the appointment at his office with the nutritionist or does the surgeon help me with that? I don't have my first appointment with the surgeon until September 7th but the lady at the surgeon's office told me to start with the PCP before I see the surgeon. And what do I tell my PCP when I get there? He made my referral to the surgeon but I just want to do everything right to make the process easier with the insurance company (Cigna).

What I Won't Miss....
Spanx under jeans! It's been one hot summer and Fridays at my job are jeans day. Plus I feel half sick by the end of the day. I think a spanx burning party may be appropriate in my future.

Medically Supervised Diet. What If Bmi Drops Below 35?
Thanks. I was going to start my 3 month diet with my PCP next week but now I think I should wait. My consultation with the surgeon isn't until September 7th. I thought I should start with the diet so I can get it over with because I want to have the surgery before the year is over since I heave met my deductible for the year. But I don't want it to make my consultation weight lower. Ugh. so frustrating. I don't know what to do. Maybe I can start the diet but not lose any weight the first month? But then I'm afraid it won't look like I'm motivated to the insurance company. I don't know the right answer!!

15 Days To Go ...and I Realize Im Scared
Awwww. Hang in there and keep your mind on the end result and how good you will feel when it's all over. It's normal to be nervous before any surgery but it will be over before you know it.

Medically Supervised Diet. What If Bmi Drops Below 35?
I have Cigna and will be starting the medically supervised diet next week. My BMI is just above 36. Does the insurance company look at your BMI before or after the diet? If is drops below 35 with the diet will that affect my chances for approval?

Cigna, What Are My Chances? Bmi Of 36.
I'm just starting this whole process and have so many questions about being approved. I have Cigna with a BMI of 36 and have "pre"diabetes, arthitis in my knees and degenerative disks in my back. I do not have high blood pressure or sleep apnea. My PCP says I have metabolic syndrome and he thinks I may get approved with that diagnosis? I don't know what I should try to stress with the insurance company for approval. My PCP says he will send the letter for medical necessity and I would like to have him address what Cigna is really looking for instead of just a generic letter. I see him next week for my first appt for the 3 month medically supervised diet. Any suggestions? I really want this but hate to go through the whole process just to be disappointed and more depressed than I am now. :/
