  1. Happy 43rd Birthday blushntexn!

  2. I am only 12 days out from getting my band and I was getting a little comfortable with my restrictions. I found myself tolerating larger than dime size bites, being able to eat more than 1/2 cup (more like up to 2 cups) and quite being so careful about how I was chewing my food. Tonight I came home, wasn't thinking, and opened the refrigerator and grabbed a strawberry. I took larger bites and didn't chew like I was supposed to. I didn't even notice the felling of the first strawberry passing through my band and then I ate the second strawberry and noticed an uncomfortable feeling, kind of like choking, but the feeling was coming from the bottom of my esophagus. I then realized that maybe the strawberries got stuck; this had never happened to me before, so it didn't bother me. I then panicked and started trying to drink a cup of water to "wash" it down. Nope, water didn't want to go down either, I immediately threw it back up with some of the strawberries. The pain and fear began to increase while I began to think, "I hope I don't have to go to the hospital because of something so stupid, not chewing!!!" I then began drinking more water and that brought up a bit more of the strawberries, after about 6 glasses of water and throwing up each time, I finally got all of the strawberries out of my pouch. My advice to you: If you want to challenge your pouch and get to comfortable eating, think again!! NEVER assume you are going to get away with going back to your old ways of eating without thinking about what is in your mouth, why it's in your mouth, and will it cause a problem with your pouch.
  3. I was banded a week ago yesterday and have lost 11 pounds since surgery and 50 lb. since June 1, 2012
  4. I'm on week two and couldn't believe my Dr. put me on canned chicken and fish already. As long as I follow the bites as small as a pencil eraser, then I am fine. Fat free refried beans and cheese and chicken warmed in the microwave last night for dinner, it was AWESOME!!! They also gave me permission for soft eggs, cheese, and large pasta.

    8Th Day Post Op Aargh

I was banded 5 days ago and went and walked around shopping for two hours yesterday and feeling pretty good today. I have discovered getting a double shot of protein with only 8 oz of milk= 40 grams of protein, has helped me get through the day. Also, I'm taking a chewable 5000 B-12 tablet, chewable multivitamins, and a chewable vitamin D-3. Check to make sure your getting all your vitamins in every day and lots of water. Hope you feel well soon!!
  6. Sipping hot mint or peppermint tea, heating pad, and gas-x have all helped me. I was only banded two days ago but Have had gas pains. Is it normal for the stoma to hurt when you first start thicker liquids?c

So Sad For My Daughter :(

I will put your daughter in my prayers. I totally understand, I too had to fight insurance company denials and frusterating hurdles for the past 10 years. I began to think that I was never meant to have the surgery. I recently went to True Results and they got everything set up for me. In their office they took care of the psych eval, the nutritionist appt, the EKG, the pulmonary test blood work, and setting me up with a good doctor close to my home. I think their was a reason for me to have to wait so long, there were a few things I needed to work on and change in my life before having surgery. College is not an easy place to be when trying to be on a restricted diet, many experiences and relationship us and downs can occur during those years. May she be happy and enjoy her college experience, with or without lap band.
  9. Hello there, my name is Lynne and I am scheduled to have Lapband surgery a week from today, Monday, Aug. 13. My starting weight was 389 June 1 and I am currently at 361. I did this by using the free My fitness pal app on my phone counting calories. have been waiting over 10 years to get this done and Im super excited about it. I have been overweight since I was in 2nd grade and have lost and gained over 75 pounds and under throughout my lifetime. Im nervous about learning to find joy in something other than food. I am swimming 3 days a week and strength training 2 days a week. I understand this is just a tool to help me get more weight off. I have Fibromyalgia, Sleep Apnea, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety, and need to have double knee replacement as soon as possible. Im so glad I found this site to help me through this new lifestyle change; Lapband.
