Hey, Dr Garcia peeps: anybody have any trouble getting the IV? I think that's my biggest fear. My veins have really sucked, historically... I hear the staff is fantastic--actually I've heard that about all the Mexico docs/nurses listed on this thread...i am just sooo stoked at how well everyone has done! Except for the DREADED gas pain:-(

Btw, 4 incisions! That's fantastic...i know its different fur everyone, depending on your anatomy, etc... But I've been reading about peeps with MANY incisions: I want as few as is necessary. I'll be thrilled if I get 4...

Thank you for bringing up OBAMACARE! I work in healthcare and have already seen many of the advantages of the Affordable Care Act...It really bugs when people diss it and they have NO idea what is included...Obamacare ROCKS! And seriously, to the OP, do some research on MEXICO,or another surgeon that will work with selfpay clients. This can happen for you :-).

Go to MEXICO! Start saving now, or get a small loan from a credit union...this does not have to be the end of your sleeve dream...There are many great surgeons that practice out of the US, where costs are prohibitive. Check it out!

Another suggestion that I've not tried, but I plan to, is a recipe for a bone broth soup. Look it up on Google and there's a bunch of recipes. Im planning to make that post op and add unflavored protein. Apparently, it has a ton of vitamins and minerals from the bones, then extra protein added...my recipe calls for beef or chicken bone (s) celery, onions, spices, and cook it on a very low simmer for hours, or crock pot it...you can strain out all the solids (a lot of the veggies will liquefy) and voila! An excellent and VERY nutritious broth. Beef knuckle is supposed to have the most nutrients. Any butcher should be able to hook it up...im going to ask the meat guy at my farmers market...

Im not sleeved yet, but from what I've read, it really varies. Obviously we can't tell the future, but I know of people who were back to light duty in less than a week. Im taking 11 days off (total...surg on Oct 27, back to work Nov 7) and I work in a very busy doctors office doing ultrasounds. I plan to go back earlier if im feeling up to it. One of my sleeve sisters is going back after 5 days, and I read one poster who went back in 3...a week should be fine, but id prepare your paperwork just in case! If you go to your profile, on the main page (use a real computer not your smartphone)there should be an area that says edit profile or add photo. Look around the main profile page...you'll find it :-).

Thx for the tip! I've been looking for a "bullet" type blender for work, and this fit the bill perfectly. I got it at Macys, on sale for $30, then I used their 10% off coupon for a grand total of $28 and some change...it has 3 cups (one tall, one short, and a personal cup); 2 blades (chopping and blending, I think?). Here's the deal: I don't expect this thing to last a long time. I'm not planning to use it everyday. I wanted something cheap that I could keep at work to blend a lunch smoothie here and there. It looks exactly like a magic bullet, which I've owned, and LOVED, until the housing broke. I have a Ninja that I use at home, and it blends smoothies perfectly in the single serving cup. There seems to be a few companies that make the same kind of thing...all cheap, all similar. Thanks to the OP for letting me know about the BELLA! (Btw, there were 4 colors to choose from...i got lime green: it seemed perky! )

Onemanwolfpack,Dont ever be embarrassed to admit a mistake (or several) on this forum...my understanding is that we're here to give and gain support, as we struggle with issues that have plagued many of us since childhood! Its hard to break our rituals and habits...yes, I said RITUALS. My relationship with eating and food borders on an OCD type situation, and I am realizing that more and more. Yeah you effed up that day...take some Metamucil and start anew today. There have been so many people who've followed their Docs orders to a T. Good for them...they rocked that part of the struggle/journey. There are many more who made the same errors in judgment and they've done amazingly well in this process!There are going to be slip-ups. There are going to be bad days and good days (hopefully more good...)Learn from it, move on, and use that experience to change your habits. Im toying with the idea of getting a NUT, at leastt for the first couple months, to help me establish healthy eating patterns. Might cost me a few bucks, but think about how much we'll be saving on pizza and beer!!!:-)

I totally agree...ive heard the exact same things about each company, and the bottom line is, it's the same surgeon, same hospital, same staff, same hotel....DIFFERENT coordinators. Both companies will try to get our business, and every person will most likely think their experience was the better one. The way I feel is: as long as im alive, healthy, and SLEEVED on my ride back to the airport, that's good enough for me. Either way, were getting an excellent deal, with a clearly excellent team. And as far as the pricing goes, its just incentive. If i feel differently after my experience in Mexico, ill most def let everyone know!

Great question! Yes, since gaining more recently, I've noticed a little leakage myself (no kids, and im the friggin QUEEN of Kegals...). I would imagine this will resolve itself as we lose weight...im encouraged by the answers above...Whew!
