  1. Well bad news, no sleeve for me now or ever! No bypass either. My band had eroded into my stomach. Took 2 hours to get out. Dr had to call in a gastro specialist to help. I'm very upset right now. But the doctor said he saved my life. I know all things work together for those who love The Lord. I hate I will never be part of the losers bench. Much success to all you guys. I have enjoyed getting to know you all.

  2. I want to send prayers and a speedy recovery to all my 10/11/12 sleeve buddies! Choc_thicktothin, Holly5.3, gottaloozit, charchar, SCS, MNSleeveGirl, CaliAmber, VNaNa, Gig, suejersey, Neta912 and wanna. We have a rocking date and we are going to ROCK this! Please keep me posted on your recovery. See you guys on the losers bench!

My verse for each of you. Isaiah 41:10

  3. Starting my pre-op on Monday. Must do liquid diet for 10 days. I can't believe it is almost here. I am a band to sleeve revision and nervous my sleeve won't be done due to scar tissue. My Doc (Alvarez) won't do the revision if too much scar tissue in one surgery, will have to wait 5 months :( but I want what is best for me :D. We are going to the Melting Pot tonight for my last meal ^_^. Best of luck to all my 10/11/12 sleeve sisters! WE ROCK! :P

  4. Hello my name is Amber soon to be 25 ; I am scheduled for surgery Oct 11,2012 I have no pre-op diet thus far .. I am very nervous but excited I will be going through Kaiser Permanente South Bay and have heard and read nothing good about my surgeon

Sent from my iPhone using VST

We are sleeve sisters! I am getting excited and nervous. My surgery is by Dr. Alvarez in Mexico. Best of luck to you and God bless!

  5. Reality has set in. I have completed my pre-op nutrition class' date=' preop admission for the hospital. I am starting to really feel the fear and nerves shoot thru the roof. I am so fearful of the unknown.. I am starting to doubt my decision. I have lost 30 lbs since the last doctor visit on 7/11/12, so my current weight is 269 lbs. I do not start my preop diet until 9/27/12 and I am sure to lose another 15 to 20 lbs by my surgery date of 10/11/12. I am so confused, scared, nervous and worried if I am doing the right thing! Is there others that feel this way this close to the surgery date? Help me October Sleevers regroup...[/quote']

I am getting nervous too. We have the same date. I don't start pre-op diet until Oct 1st. I am more worried about being able to get through pre-op diet than surgery. We can do it!!!!! Just think how much healthier and happier we will be this time next year!

  6. Can't remember if I posted on here or not' date=' but my surgery date is Oct. 11th with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. I'm starting to get really nervous - I don't have to do any pre-op anything except stop taking some of the meds that I normally take, several days before surgery.

I'm 56, 5ft 6in tall, weigh 208 lbs. and I want to get down to 130, but I don't really think that's possible. I set the goal really low to make sure I get to an acceptable weight.

I've never been married, never had kids, but I do operate an animal rescue out of my home on 7 acres. I currently have 25 dogs, 14 cats and 3 peacocks. Those are my kids. I have caretakers who live on the property to take care of all of the babies while I am out of commission. Unfortunately I am about to lose 5 of them to old age as I have had them for about 14 years :( ..... that will make me very sad, but it's inevitable for everyone who is ever born - we all die at some point.

I, like Donny above, am not scared of the surgery, I am scared of the life thereafter. I don't know if I even know how to mentally prepare for it so I figure I will just take it one day at a time and see what happens. I am MOST scare of the "buyer's remorse" factor, as in asking myself "what have I done? why did I do this to myself". I am so worried about regret initially after, especially if I have problems, or nausea, or can't swallow. I especially DON'T want to hear anyone who knows I am going to do this to say, "I told you not to do it!"

I'm trying not to dwell on the negative expectations or I should say the potential for them - just like scheduling the surgery, I just DID it so as to not wobble on the fence forever procrastinating about making the decision. I just DID it. So I am trying not to make assumptions about what happens right after the surgery is over.

If anyone is going to be in Mexicali with Dr. Aceves around Oct. 11th through Oct. 14th, let me know! Good luck to all of us! :D[/quote']

I too am October 11th but with Dr. Alvarez in Mexico. There are 4 of us on that date that I know of but all with different docs. Just keep a positive outlook. Your attitude has a lot to do with your recovery. I work with cancer patients and those with positive attitudes do best with recovery. Just think how much better you will be in a year! Sometimes we have to look beyond our present circumstances. We will all have difficult days or maybe even weeks but in the long run you will be a healthier and happier person. God bless and best of luck to you on your journey!

  7. Hi! I'm Holly - sleeve surgery on 10/11/12 (cool date-huh?) with Dr Ahmad on Long Island ' date=' NY. Excited and scared! I'm on week 2 of low sugar/carb diet. I tried 2 shake samples from my nut. The plain was pretty good- added fresh strawberries (only 2-3). I had strawberry flavored one today - not half as good as the 1st one. I hurt myself last week (strained/pulled hip flexer/groin muscle-yes, woman can pull a groin muscle! Excrutiating pain!) Thank God I'm on my pre-op diet or I would have gained at least 5 pounds! [/quote']

Hi I am also 10/11/12 ( super cool date) with Dr. Alvarez in Mexico. God bless and I hope all goes well!

  8. Hello and welcome ! I'm scheduled for October 5th with Dr. A. You have made a great decision to go with Dr. Alvarez.... he even answers you back on twitter which is totally cool. Susan is great and has been very helpful with everything.... good luck on your upcoming surgery.

Good luck to you too! Let me know how your surgery goes. Let's stay in touch on our journeys.

  9. Lil Lo I would have used Dr Alvarez and Susan his patient advocate told me the same thing. if insurance would not have covered but I got approved. I will keep you in prayer for one procedure. Who did your band? Keep me informed how you do

Dr. Les Miles in Birmingham, AL did my band. Insurance won't pay and I can't afford it. He has not done many revisions so I was looking for someone with more revision experience. I really like Dr. Alvarez and I am very excited. I will understand if he can't do it in one surgery but will be very disappointed. I want what is best for me physically. Thanks for your prayers and support!

  10. I am having my revision October 11th. Have had band for 7 years. Not bad weight loss at first, but regained most of it back. I am having trouble with heartburn and some nausea. Ready to get it out! It has never been comfortable. I had my gallbladder out last year and my port tube was adhered to my gallbladder! My Doctor ( Dr. Alvarez) said there is a 50/50 chance of a complete revision in one surgery. Please be in prayer for me that I can get it done in one surgery. Thanks for all your support!
