    Submitted to Insurance!

If you know your policies and criteria and you meet its, shouldn't be a problem as long as all the paperwork is correct! Take a breathe and relax. Good things will happen! Good luck!

    Leak Test Question........

Just think it's one quick thing you have to do to change the rest of your life . It's only downhill from there .
  3. I just told them it had dr appointments. Legally they can't ask you and you don't have to tell them. And I believe when I took my leave my form said abdominal surgery.

    Leak Test Question........

Hey. I was sleeved 12/10/12. The leak test did not hurt but to me it was the worst tasting thing I have ever had. If it's the same as mine, it was clear and maybe only an ounce or two, but it tasted radioactive lol. I would of rather drank a huge canister of the white barium. Now part of my issue was that my new sleeve was so swollen that liquids were not going down. So that damn stuff was sitting in my esophagus for hours. I then had to stay on the hospital bc of the swelling and the fact that I failed my leak test (not for a leak but for swellling). I had to do this test again 2 days later. It was awful the 2nd time too lol. We all also have different taste buds so maybe I won't be too bad for you.

    All of my December sleevers...

I know you're right! When have I EVER lost 44 pounds in 2 months! My Dr is the one who made a comment about it not coming off as fast as he would of liked. So then I kinda got I stuck in my head that it wasn't fast enough. But you're so right! Thank you.

    All of my December sleevers...

Hi all. Sleeved 12/10/12 and going well. Was hoping for a little faster loss but as long as I am losing and not gaining I am now ok with it. I started this journey in august at 332 size 26, today I am at 266 in size 20 or 22 (depends on the pants). This is the best I have felt in a long time. Last weekend we took our two year old sledding and instead of sitting on the sidelines watching her I got to play too! It was so much fun . I too just started getting this empty gnawing feeling. I usuly get it started night and thought I was hungry. Maybe it's acid? I do take a dissolvable prevacid every morning, 30mg,but maybe I need more? I started each day with a pistachio protein shake. Then have usually 3 meals a day. Get about 70g of protein a day. Some days are better than others for water. To the person who mentioned the fruit in the water is might have to try that! Thank you! Starting wt: 332 DOS: 300 (was 315 when I started my 14 day preopdiet) Today: 266
  7. be safe dat! just saw how much snow you got, that's crazy! i am in chicago and 2 years ago we got 2 feet and i thought that was bad. some of the drifts were even worse of course. stay safe! at least your power is on! (i assume).
  8. dig your way out and go play in the snow . that will keep your mind off the pantry. love snow!

    Tell me everything

Oh and the weirdest thing. I had to pee so bad when I got to my room. Seriously felt like I was going to pee my pants. Finally got up into the bathroom and it was so hard to go. I was told it's from that drying out med. Makes all fluid producing membranes go to sleep so they said my bladder didn't want to empty even though I had to go. It was such a weird feeling.

    Tell me everything

Hey there. Was sleeved 12/10/12. Overall had a good experience. Checked into the hospital at 10am for a noon surgery. Got prepped, pregnancy test, rinsed mouth with listerine. Came back to room and put on a weird paper gown that hooked up to warming blowers. Of course surgeon was a little behind so things didn't start rolling until almost 1. Prep nurse started iv and I waited for the Dr to come in. Once he stopped in things flew. Anesthesiologist stopped in to ask me questions and go over my chart. Then the OR nurse came in and also went over my chart. She then gave me a med that dries you out. Also gave me a teddy bear that she laid between my feet, then gave me another med to calm me down. I was awake going into the OR and remember everyone getting things I the room ready. The anesthesiologist then asked if I was ready and I woke up in recovery. I woke up very nauseous and was dry heaving a bit. So i got a couple anitnausea meds to help. Something a girl I know pointed out to me recently. She asked me if I woke up in the same gown that I went into surgery with and I started laughing and said no. I then had a little complex that I was laying there naked . Not sure if this helps you at all.... Good luck tomorrow!

    Pills?

My Dr says when you start regular foods you can swallow pills. But that is what he recommends. Your dr might be different.

    "Bougie" size?

This thread has a good explanation http://m.obesityhelp.com/member/carmelita/blog/2011/03/31/-2 There is also a great video Something else to keep in mind is how the Dr uses the bougie. If they don't push that tube snug up against the top of your stomach or they don't staple right snug up next to it on the outer side then a 32 french may end up being a 40 french. It's just a guide for them to follow. At least that's is my take on the whole thing.
  15. You should be fine as others stated. I too have bcbs but in IL. I know each plan isn't exactly the same but our clause said +35 with 2 comorbidities or +40 with none. If you're at 41 there shouldn't be a question of approval. Bcbs is really good. I too had no comorbidities but my bmi was a little higher than yours coming in at almost 51. I got approved in 3 days. Good luck to you!
  16. Totally normal. Like others said iv fluids and swelling. I would worry more about water, popsicles and broths the first couple days. I couldn't even smell a protein drink for almost 2 weeks postop. I wish you well! Congrats on your sleeve!
  17. Can not believe this thread is still going.... let it lie already. OP I hope you figure out what's going on. Best of luck to you.

    Why not Nexium?

Aussie, isn't the point of ppis to prevent acid and problems associated with acid, ie erosion, barretts etc? Why would you wait to take it until you get reflux? Seems kinda counterintuitive. Because of the possibility of bone fractures? I'm just asking not trying to be a jerk.

    Why not Nexium?

Not sure about taking it with the sleeve as I'm on dissolvable prevacid. But if you do some research on nexium and some of the things people have gone through while on it, sounds like a terrible drug. I was on it for a few months preop and had to stop. I was having terrible heart palpitations and anxiety. Once I got off they stopped. Thankfully the prevacid Is working for me currently. I do not want to end up back on that stuff. Those were the worst months of my life.

    I can't wake up!

    Very normal!

How long (in general) is the surgery

I had to check in at 10 for a noon surgery which ended up getting pushed back to 130. I had single site surgery and was told it could take anywhere from 1-1/2 to 2 hours. And it took an hour. No idea what time I woke up. Maybe 5ish?

    Sleeved tomorrow 1/28!

Woohoo! Congrats to you. Get some rest and start walking

    New and ANNOYED

Hope you get it figured out and quickly. I would definitely work with your insurance company and find out what they require. Then maybe look for a new surgeon. The surgeon and coordinator from my understanding would do the appeal. Not a lawyer. But if your surgeon is recommending a lawyer sounds fishy to me. Good luck!
