I grew up in Boston, on Comm. Ave. between BU and BC. I went to Boston public schools and I am very proud of being from Boston. I now live about 10 miles south of the city. My good friend works for the Boston Police Dept., 911. He just told me a woman from CA ordered a lot pizzas to be delivered to the head quarters and a person from KY sent fruit. This country is super, if you don't like it, there's the door.
My 95 year old mother's nursing home was in lock down yesterday. She doesn't go out, so she wouldn't have known. My mentally challenged brother lives near the nursing home and the chefs and other workers couldn't go make and serve dinner last night. He lives in senior housing.
So today when we are all out enjoying our freedom, let's all sing "Sweet Caroline". That was sung at the Boston Common last night by the people that could finally leave their homes and at every Red Sox game. Thanks Neil Diamond for a great song.
I know this has nothing to do the weight loss or the band.

I have been out all day and saw much earlier or yesterday a question about hair loss. At my monthly support group tonight was the rep from Bariatric Advantage. Her name is, Pat, I think. Pat had bypass surgery 10 years ago. She still looks great. About 4 years ago she started to lose her hair. She had a blood test and her Ferritin showed up very low, around 2 and she said it should be around 40ish. She had to have some medical things done to her but her hair is very healthy now. So she said if you have hair loss get tested for this Ferritin. She also said you have to keep up with your annual blood work because people that have WLS do lose some vitamins and minerals and don't know it.
    Have a great evening everyone.

I watched the end of The Biggest Loser and the man voted off said, I did not want another man to raise my son. I loved that. I don't want another woman with my husband or her wearing my jewelry and being grammie to my grandsons. So I can quote him too. I now know I am doing something to keep me around longer.
Enjoy your day. Have a happy Fat Tuesday to all who celebrate.

Good evening all. I was reading an article on Yahoo about a woman who lost 222(?) but not with WLS. It said that there is a National Weight Control Registry. Has anyone ever heard of them? After you have kept off a certain amount of weight for 1 year you can register. Interesting.
Tonight I had one of my favorite dinners. Large shrimp, pea pods, water chestnuts, a few almonds that I cook together with hoison sauce and another Chinese sauce and put it all onto brown rice. I love that meal.
Have a great snow free evening.

Tonight for dinner I had extra large shrimp with pea pods, water chestnuts, almonds and brown rice. It was wonderful. I used a chinese sauce to cook it all together.
Then around 10pm (I am a night owl and sleep all morning) I made sweet and sour meatballs. They are so good. I use sugar free/reduced sugar grape jelly and equal part chili sauce and heat together and then add your meatballs (raw). I use some seasonings and a drop of panko and then cook them on low for about 1 hour. I have a food saver so I can freeze into small amounts for me. My husband doesn't eat meat and doesn't eat turkey sweet and sour balls. He had American chop suey made with ground turkey. He loves that. I hate that.
Husband just left to meet my DIL at the mechanics. My son forgot they have an early appointment and their baby is 1 1/2 months old so tonight was better than early morning for them. My son is almost 38 and still needs us, I am happy about that.
    Have a great sleep everyone.

Just got my new People and it's the half their size issue!!!!!!!! I always felt jealous of their success and now I can be a success story like them. Who would have thought one year ago I would be down 66 lbs. at this time. Great start of the new year for all of us. We are facing our over eating and doing something about it. We all should stand up and cheer for ourselves and all on this site!!!

Since I have lost weight I am always cold. I was always the hot one. I seem to never get warm anymore. I wear a mink jacket when it gets below 40. Yes, I wear fur and eat meat. Maybe my husband is right, time to move down south. But then my grandchildren will be in MA and I don't think I could ever leave them. I find myself drinking hot tea all day and that isn't working either.

Yesterday my husband and I went for our annual dermatology checkups. I was told to never use toner again. It either has alcohol or acetone in them. Never knew that after using them for over 40 years. The doctor did say rentol (excuse spelling) is very good for wrinkles. I bought CVS brand on sale. I am on the vein side but you wouldn't know that by me being so over weight for so long. I use to go to Cape Cod to a resort and the resident comic was gay and extremely large and made fun of decorating his large body. From the first time I heard him say that, I started dressing much better. It took a fat man to tell me that fat doesn't have to dress bad.

    Thanks for listening to me.
Have a great Thursday. Time to go food shopping-how fun? Not.

While I was getting dressed this morning my husband said my shelf is gone. He never knew how to tell me how bad it looked. I told him, I knew I had a huge shelf. Not a Kim K. shelf but a platter size one. I have my daughter-in-law's baby shower this morning. I have on a twin set from my fatter days and the sweater buttons and looks great! I am enjoying being thinner. I know that sounds weird but in my old life when I would lose weight I couldn't handle comments. It really bothered me and this time, don't know why, but they don't bother me as much.
    Have a great day everyone.

This is going to be a very busy weekend. Yesterday I had my hair colored and it looks like s**t. Going back today to get the very dark red lighter. tonight is my nephews rehearsal dinner. Tomorrow my daughter-in-law's baby shower. Sunday is my nephew's wedding at a very fun type museum (in MA) and Monday morning an after wedding brunch at my brother's house. Non stop food the whole time but I didn't get a band to eat, eat and eat more, I got it get thinner and thinner!
The more I look in the mirror the more loose skin I find. Like my bat wings (bingo arms) whatever you call them. The turkey neck which I over moisturize and the fat is leaving the face. When you get over 60 the skin doesn't go back into place like a 30-40 year old.
Have a super weekend everyone in Lap Band land!

Happy Monday all. After not losing any pounds for about 4 weeks, I finally lost some weight! I am so thrilled. 10 more pounds and I will be less than 200!!!!! Never thought in my 60's I would ever see those numbers again. In 3 weeks I have my nephews wedding and I bought a great pants suit, size 18, misses not women's! The pants are a little big and the jacket is too perfect, could use a little room. I will give it another week to see if the buttons need to be moved.
Dr. Oz just said at 2pm is the best time of day to cheat with a sugar boost, like 1 oz. of dark chocolate. Do any of you eat chocolate? I haven't yet but that is my favorite thing, with peppermint in it.
    Enjoy your evening.

    Good evening everyone
After banding can you eat ribs? I haven't tried them yet. Yesterday I tried a chicken wing and it was too chewy, so I couldn't eat it. Wings are one of my favorite foods. Bye Bye wings. Also, how about rack of lamb? Is that a food that goes down well?
    Thank you.

Just had my first fill. Back to liquids for 3 days, then soft mashed foods for 3 days and then STAGE 5!!!!!! Can't wait. I miss shrimp, lobster and salad. My husband misses us having Chinese food. Today really starts the rest of my life. I am making a promise to myself never to be obese again. I didn't go to this extreme (surgery) to be fat.
I really enjoy this site and reading about everyone. Thank you all. You all give me encouragement that only Banders would understand.
Have a great weekend. If you're from NE, stay dry.

    Happy Wednesday/Hump Day,
My son sent me an email that Lisa Lampaneli had the sleeve in the spring and her husband also had it. The picture on TMZ made Lisa look great. The sleeve is too drastic for me. I wish them a lot of luck. I think the Band is the best. It can be removed if there is a problem and no staples that pop or be stretched out. At my support group not one person had the sleeve, just a very few the by pass, everyone seems to love the band.

Happy Saturday to all. Last night I made sweet and sour meatballs, love them. You mix equal parts of sugar free grape jelly and chili sauce together in a pot and let it come to a boil. Make meatballs,(I bought 1 lb.) I use 90% lean meat with some spices and some panko. Make the balls and put them into the mixture on low for about 1 hour. They are so good. Soft to eat. I have 3 for my 4oz.
Have a great Sunday and a Happy and Healthy New Year to all.
