  1. Congrats to a better life. This is the place to be. I have had great motivation and been inspired here on this forum. Keep us updated on your journey.
  2. I do understand your frustration. I was banded 2 years ago and Have lost 32 lbs. but like you was not working the program 100%. I'm back on again and lost 4 this week. Just get back to what you know is the right and start with taking some walks and you will be back to the losing side again.
  3. Well said, well worth the 70 bucks . Small cost for piece of mind knowing everything is good.
  4. I feel back in control! Lost 4 lbs this week. Best I've done in a long time. I'm going to work the program as long as I can before scheduling a fill. Guess the RN was right on with her no fill advise. Go figure. Lol.
  5. I bruise every time but that's because I am on daily aspirin. Not sure about the bloating. I would say to put some ice on it and check with the doc. Remember ... Always better being safe than sorry.
  6. I agree with Mis. You should call your doc. Your health is the most important.
  7. Just speaking for myself that would be 1 less Christmas card to send. I choose my friends and I'm afraid that 1 less wouldn't kill me. Especially if they make me feel bad about myself and my decision. There's my 2cents worth. Lol.
  8. Yes! Drink all your water. I have been hospitalized twice in last 2 years for dehydration. And living in Arizona doesn't help, hot summers!
  9. I am always reading about the protein shakes. I was in my dr office on Monday and they tell me NO protein shakes at all. And NO fruit at all. Only meat and veggies. Also NO sweeteners and NO sugar free anything. So, ok, let's be real ! I'm going to at least have some sweeteners. Gotta have a life.
  10. Congrats, good luck and welcome to the family
  11. Of I remember correctly mine seemed close to the surface after surgery. As time goes by it kinda settles in. Mine doesn't stick out like it used to. I was banded in 2011.
  12. Another great tool that has an app is called "lose It". Kinda like fitness pal so check them out to see what you like the most. I like being able to track my protein intake.
  13. I usually stick to liquids Afro the first 2 days then mushy for 1 day then back to meals. You may want to try that and let your stomach rest and heal some.
  14. Also milk of mag for the gas pains. My biggest suggestion is not to be in too big of hurry for anything. Give your body and mind time to heal and adjust. Good luck!
  15. Yep we have to work at it. I was banded in 2011 and over time picked up some of my old habits. We are a work in progress !
  16. I'm reporting in. My eating was out of control, gained back 12 lbs , so doc put me on fluids for 2 weeks. Saw my "fill nurse" yesterday who believes I'm just fine. She was great to just sit down and talk to me for awhile. She believes I'm fine with my band just need to be doing my share of the work. Guess the band can't do it all. So I am back on board with measuring my food, only 3 meals a day with no snacks and no artificial sugars. I will give it another month then we will decide if I really need a fill. With me doing the journey the right way. We'll back to the gym I go. I sure wish this was easier. Hahhaaha
  17. And I went back on the same day. I didn't even get home before I turned my car around and went back.
  18. I have insurance and I was charged an additional co pay and my insurance billed for my unfill.
  19. Good for you. Welcome to a brand new future.
  20. I like the idea of the chart. I will make 1 up like a countdown. That may help me only check it weekly and motivations too cause I can mark it off as I lose. Thanks for the idea.
  21. I have not. Never have I even felt just where the band is. Any injury or muscle pulls?
  22. Wow. Thanks so much for all the feedback. A lot of great info in this thread. I do notice my clothes feel better so I think I will try only weighing every 2 weeks cause it does freak me out when the scale goes up. Thx.
  23. I have 4 more days on liquids. As some of you may have read previously I was banded in 2011 but have gained back about 15. Finally gave in and called doc who has me in shakes and I see him on Monday. Ok. .. I lost over 5 last week weighed today and gained 3 ! What's up with that? So how often does everyone weigh? I know I shouldn't look every other day but love to see it go down. Motivation. But the other side is when I gain. Now depressed. Help plz.
  24. This is exactly how my doctor does it. I'm always confused as to how much I actually have in my band. The during says one thing but the nurse says that semester stay in the tube. This could be why you have recorded different amts. nurse says that when she draws it out that some is in tube.
  25. Plz be careful with a fill so close to your cruise. I take a cruise about once a year and depending where you are going you could feel tighter. Weird but I get tighter in higher altitudes. And sometimes I fill tighter a week or two after a fill. I sire wouldn't want to be too tight out in the middle is the ocean. Have fun on your trip and be careful of those sliders. The ice cream machine is open 24 hrs a day.
