  7. The difference there is that with a tummy tuck, the incision is quite extensive, whereas with laparoscopic cases, the incisions are small... Of course, all of this being said, it is surgeons preferences! And God knows, those are varied!
  8. Surgeons don't worry about you having showers, but they don't want you sitting in a tub! That's like sitting in a swamp!
  9. Thank you OneManWolfPack! I am getting sleeved next Tuesday and even though I am an OR nurse, and well versed in the surgery and what goes on with patients.. when its me as the patient, it all flies out the window. 15. I'm 5'4. Starting wt 310, lost 35 lbs & am down 42 lbs after 3 days on preop liquids. Surgery November 6th! I anticipate losing 25-30 lbs on protein shakes.
  16. Do you know why the program is being cancelled? is it that they can not get OR time? or has the hospital determined not to perform anymore? I know that there is still a program in Victoria, with Dr. Amson, Dr. Tang and Dr. Malik. Dr. Amson has a HUGE waitlist. There has been no discussion about cutting back on the program in Victoria, and I know they have been in discussion to increase the number of surgeries, but so far they are limited. I agree that pressure needs to be put on the provincial government and there needs to be a true Bariatric program. Do not lose all hope, people.. there are still options available, but I do agree is it a shame to see this Richmond program close.
  17. Me too! Those two items are my mainstay! I start my shakes tomorrow , getting sleeved Nov 6!!! Pre liquids wt loss 40lbs! Ready to get this next phase started!!!
  18. You will be great! No worries girl! My peeps are ready for you!!!

  20. Hey, if anyone in BC is going to be in Victoria near the end of September! There will be a forum on Obesity on Sept 27th at UVIC. I have attached the information here. It's FREE. You just need to book and reserve a seat. It will be an excellent couple of hours. I will be there, along with other VST members here in Victoria.. See you there! The surgeon presenting is a friend of mine and is excellent! LafayetteHealth2012-Aug-email.pdf
  21. You deserve better. He's a fool. You look to YOUR future!!! You will do so much better without him. Think of it as you have lost 250 pounds already!!!!!
  22. Hi! I have a tentative booking for Nov 6th! Can't wait!!! Lost just over 30lbs so far, looking to lose 150 total! I'm excited!!!
  23. Hi SM2B! We should talk! Yes, they have all been asking for more OR time and it is a huge political pot right now. They have been speaking to the provinicial government about a proper Bariatric program for BC. But it is still a long way off. If you want to talk privately, it might be better than in this forum. My email is marcy@shaw.ca
  24. My date has not been confirmed yet, SkinnyMinnie2Be ( love that name!) It might change due to what is happening at that time with surgical bookings ( not Maliks), availability of beds etc in the hospital. But I do know he has a couple of patients booked in October. He is only allowed to do 2 a month ( as there are other surgeons in town who also do these). The hospital restricts how many can be done. But I would say things are looking good!
