  1. I just finished week 8. I too was worried about my knees. I started out wearing neoprene sleeves and they helped some. But the best thing I did was read up on proper running form. I started out being a heel striker' date=' but once I started making myself be a forefoot striker, shortening up my stride and bending my knees more (kinda squatting down a little) I started running with way less impact, and therefore less knee pain.[/quote']

    I did my first 5 k a couple of wks ago. And I run 2-3 MLS and walk 1-2 miles m-f. I am about 12.5 wks post-op.

I need to start watching my form cause I just started having rgt knee pain. Also could be that I am running on the trails which have more hilly/incline areas

  2. I would love to know this too. I am almost 6 weeks out and just wearing a panty girdle hurts. I couldn't wear it for long and it made my stomach sore again.

If the panty girdle hits right on the stomach area it does hurt, try wearing a tank top style or a girdle that goes right about the bra line.

I've had it happen to me the panty girdle wasn't long enough and it sat right in that area and it was very painful.

  3. Happy thanksgiving every one. I hope you enjoy your time with your loved ones.

Meet my first goal of 185 and 2nd goal was 180. I was weighing in on Fridays so maybe tomorrow.. Fell short just a bit.. But that's ok ...next unto the Christmas challenge... Goal for 12/25 is 175. Every month I am losing less and less..

  4. I sm so jealous of those who can drink their 64+oz of Water. For the past 3 months I have tried so hard to drink more fluids and I went to PCP and told him I was afraid of dehydration and he told me to sip and keep trying. I keep trying I keep various bottles of different fluids on my desk and only manage 6-12 oz of fluids + my 2 shakes. It is so frustrating that that I have stomach pain when I drink my water. It is hot and humid and I run at lunch time so I know the importance of trying to keep hydrated.

So if anyone experienced the stomach pain and fustration please tell me what u did different to over come this situation?

  5. Thanks for explaining. I was just curious because you said you didn't feel different after such a great loss :)

And I love to hear of another girl who wants an hourglass figure. I couldn't be a 00 if my life depended on it!

I'm just turning 50 this year and I will say that as I lose weight I see some wrinkles in my face that were well hidden in blubber LOL I'm starting to see my mother peek out from my mirror and spend a little time each morning pulling my cheeks and jawline back to see what a mini facelift would do heh heh I always said those were ridiculous...but ummmmm well they're sounding pretty smart lately LMAO My only fear...after having all the complications I did with this would be they'd relocate an eyeball to my chin or something....

Lmao.. you are becoming too funny. I probably will need an all over body over haul. Before I know it my boobs are going to be at my waist line (lol) and my arms already look like bat wings.. I have to walk around like I am conceited ...my face and nose pointing up to keep my neck stretched. OMG. I am going to be an old saggy 50 yr old woman. I still need 40 lbs to go. Oh no I am freaking out. I know this is part of the WL and I know some of the sagginess well get better if I just add firming and resistance training. I will just take it one day at a time.

  7. I can't weigh in on Thanksgiving morning because we have decided to fly to Minnesota to be with my husband's family (I only count weight on my scale). But...I didn't think I was going to make my goal of 145 because I was in a two and a half week stall. Surprise' date=' I went down a pound yesterday and today....SEVEN pounds (I apparently exercise or have liposuction in my sleep LMAO). So, my final weigh in will be on Tuesday morning before we leave for the airport. But if I stay on track I just might make it!

    Starting weight 185

    Challenge weight start 155.6

    Today's weight 146.6

    Challenge weight goal 145.nothing :P

Wow u did awesome. I want to be able to go to sleep and wake up 7lbs..lighter....u deserve this big loss.......

  8. I am 7 weeks post op' date=' I was sleeved on 9/26, and I can't stand the thought of eating at least 80% of the time. I am at the point where I am reintroducing foods. I am now nearly intolerant to all dairy, chicken no matter how moist, small cut or shredded doesn't stay down. If I eat something one time and try it again later it now makes me sick. I'm doing great with weight loss and all my bloodwork was great at my six week checkup. I still know this was the best decision I made, but as I sit here typing this I am fighting to keep down the 3 baby carrots, 4 small cubes of potatoes and sliver of roast beef I ate down. The doctor said this isn't uncommon, but I need someone who has been through this to tell me that it gets better. Now excuse me, I have lost the battle to keep dinner down.[/quote']

Sometimes you have to go back a stage.

    Are u taking small bites?

Are you chewing your foods many times?

    Are eating your Protein first?

Maybe you are having acid reflux, Are you on any PPI. Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid ?

Can you tell when you are full before you get to the throwing up stage? Are you measuring your food?

At 11wks I can only eat 2 oz of Protein ( ckn, tuna, fish, grnd beef) I never have room for veggies , fruits or starches. I still drink two shakes a day.

I ask some questions just to see if there was something that would help find the cause of your problem.

Remember your stomach might still be sore and tender.

Hang in there it does get better every day...

    .

  9. My original date was Aug 23. The second surgery was Sept 28 so I fall in both categories :)

Entire day...honey that varies LOL I try to stay around 600 calories per day. So today:

1c nonfat milk with 8 oz Decaf coffee and a shot of sugar free vanilla (I have this every am)

    1/2 c cottage cheese (1%)

1.5 oz halibut with 4 french fries

    Premier Protein drink

Spaghetti Carbonara made with whole wheat spaghetti

    4oz Kris Pinot Grigio

I did half an hour of running up and down the stairs (we have sixty to the top floor of the house) which allows me the wine. If I don't exercise I don't get wine LOL It's a great incentive. I eat about 1/2 cup max per meal because I am still healing from the second surgery. In many ways (restriction wise) it set me back to the beginning five weeks into the first surgery period.

I often have fish or chicken or odd ball stuff like rabbit' date=' buffalo, wild boar, etc because they are served at my favorite restaurant (I eat out two or three times a week)

Activity levels, Moderate :P I have a big house and the stairs are good for me LOL This is a busy time of year putting away halloween and getting out christmas. I can spend an hour back and forth on the stairs easily doing that (that's tomorrow's goal). I also walk for an hour or two a few times a week when the weather permits. I need to get a tread mill so I can walk when the weather sucks.

Because I had major complications and spent a lot of time in hospital I have a lower energy level than many might at this point. I am still on lifting restrictions and activity restrictions. I tire easily some days, and some I'm boundless. I really notice the lack of ability when I drop something on the floor. I have to hold something to get back up. That is the side effect of 45 days literally flat on my back. It gets better each day. I don't have any pain, but I am still healing and won't be clear of restrictions until the 26th when they will do (final I hope) leak testing to ensure that the second surgery worked. If that isn't holding (and it seems to be) than I will learn if they want to do something else, or if I lose my stomach. My lungs were damaged, so I have to watch out for illness. Yawning is odd...about half way through it stops dead in it's track. Sneezing is painful, in the lung area though (because my esophagus was damaged as well likely). I'm told that will take a few years to heal and I have to watch for lung illnesses during this time as I'm more susceptible to Fluid buildup than someone with healthy lungs.

I've been in a fatal stall for two weeks at 33.6 lbs down. That said, it's a pound and a half from taking me to the "just fat" category verses obese. :) Mean body LOL But 33.6 is half of my weight loss goal (within a few ounces) so that's pretty good, especially given I returned from the long hospital stay up 40lbs :o I'm happy with the changes but would like to slip down to that next category LMAO did I mention...damn mean body?

I've come a long way from the sobbing mess they were finding a Chaplin for in September. The head of school at my son's school stopped me today and said he was glad to see me back and looking so well. I replied that it is really nice to be back among the living :) It really is! Weight loss is nice...but being alive beats the hell out of a few pounds every time!

    [/quote']

U r my inspiration.. you worked hard to survive and now working as hard to get to your wgt loss goal.. U R AWRSOME...have an wonderful day...

  10. I did it! Today I weighed in at 199.6. That's 118 lbs gone forever in 8 months. I love my sleeve.

My goal was to hit onderland by Halloween. So I'm a little late' date=' but better late than never. If someone had told me last thanksgiving that I would Weigh less than 200 lbs this year I would not have believed them. Next goal 189 by Christmas.

    [/quote']

Welcome to onederland. That is amazing .. Keep up the great work....

  11. OK I was sleeved on Aug 27th. I weighed 341 right before my 2 week pre op diet. I now weigh 268 lbs .... So thats 73 lbs of weight loss... that puts me a little over half way to my goal of getting just a hair under 200lbs! I remember weighing 195 when I was 16 years old! Never would have thought it possible! I weighed 245 when I got married in July of 1982! SO things are going in the right direction!

I have thrown up about 4 times for various reasons ... Eating too fast or "sneaking" a drink after eating ... NOT A GOOD IDEA! I ate 45% of a Gyro then my daughter was drinking a birch beer soda ... I loved that stuff & said ... let me have a sip.... WRONG CHOICE! my tummy was packed with the spicy gyro & then a sip of that ... Well thank God the lady had given us a nice handful of napkins... & Lets just say the gyro tasted better going down then coming back up! OH Well ... Note to self... Don't do that again! Still getting used to this new stomach! People are always asking me how I feel... Sometimes I don't know how to answer ... Evidently I need to take some Iron tabs due to my last blood draw... Well I hope everyone is doing OK ... I think by the Spring of next year we all should be in pretty good shape! God bless you all!

Great job on the weight loss... Keep it up...

We will be in good shape come this spring..

  12. 5k' date=' awesome! I want to run one of those one day. But I have some more weight to lose first.

Good luck Ai it! I know you'll feel like a million dollars when you cross that finish line![/quote']

I started slow and use the program C25k on my phone and that helps you walk some jog/run some. It decreases the walking and increases the running. Weekly.

I did not make my Halloween goal but I am all so happy where I am at. I started out on 08/17 wearing a size 18. Today I wear a size 12. I can't say I do not care what the scale say because that would be a lie but I can say that I am very happy with how the weight that remains on the scale reflects in my cloethes and in the mirror. This VSG has been such a blessing...On to the next challenge...

And for Halloween I was a Chinese Takeout Girl...

Great job on the weight loss. You look awesome
