Alliecat' date=' thanks so much for the tips. Right now...I am a big ball of emotions. At times, I feel confident with my decision and my surgeon then I am so worried about post op pain and my new eating habits. I want to be successful and meet my weight loss goals but I have to aduchit I am nervous and just ready to get it over[/quote']
Hakuna we all started that way nervous, anxious and scared. Listen to your body. . I am still learning what my stomach can handle in taste and quantity...
Just follow your doctors instructions and follow his plans...
Your stomach will be very sensitive and swollen for awhile.. you probably will not be able to drink or eat very much...
Good luck....

I have a cold also.... I am glad I got it now and not later. It is one of those colds that I can't get rid of. I follow the forum "E-Waiting Room". It is really making me mentally prepared for post surgery. People are posting up until they are getting their IV and as soon as they are able to post. Some people post a summary of their pre and post op experience in the hospital.I am so worried about post surgery
.
Hi I am 4 months out and I had a wonderful recovery. I didn't need pain meds when I got home. I had no nausea or vomiting.. I made sure I walked right away and rested when I needed to.
At first it is hard to sleep on your side or stomach .. but When I finally was able to sleep on my side what I found out that helped me was put a pillow between my legs and use a smaller(thinner) pillow to support my stomach.
Ask them to show you how to get out of bed. They showed me and it helped out alot....
Good luck and ill save you a seat on the losers bench ....

The only thing I do is eat about 1.5 hours prior to running. This usually gives me time to take care of business. However on my short runs I eat the same thing about an hour before running and I never stray from my usual Cereal. I have been super lucky because I haven't had to stop before.
I worry about trying new energy gels and chews while running for this very reason. I stick to what I've tried out of fear. Good thing it has been working for me so far. How's ur Fiber on the days before u run? I eat a lot of Fiber rich food and I try to ease back the day before running.
I wish I could be more help. Hopefully someone else can shed some light.
Sent from my iPhone using VST
I basically eat the same things, Protein shakes, yogurt, almonds and Protein Bar for Breakfast and am Snacks, for lunch and dinner ckn (salad) , tuna (salad) , fish, ribs and hamburger meat.
I hardly eat fiber.. I only have room for 2-3 oz of Protein ..and when I need fiber I add chia or flax seed to my shakes.
Thank you for your help...

Hi there!!
Ooohhh....been there' date=' done that! What I have noticed is on days of runs, no coffee or other heavy caffeine drinking. Also,NO running gels, Beans, or other fancy goo for me while running. Complete laxative effect for me.
What do you normally consume before running? Within a couple of hours? Is it the same thing most of the time?[/quote']
I drink a shake at 7 am, 10am I might have a yogurt or almonds and I run at noon ( my lunch hour) ...
But it doesn't matter what time of day I run cause I've tried early morning, noon and evenings. It doesn't happen every day .
No I do not consume gels , Beans or any fancy goo...
Thank you for the info....

As far as bras: I'm slightly bigger chested and I wear model 6242 from Champion. (You can put it in their search box at their website) that may help' date=' if you desire. I buy them online when they are on sale because it's hard to find them in stores. You can always get your money back if you don't like it! I have a couple of other favorites (if interested) for sports bras just through trial and error because it is so stinking hard to find one! It literally took over a year to find the ones that were legitimately good for running. I could start a website for sports bras feedback for all the crap I went through!! Lol
Thorlos!!! I buy the running Thorlos, the short ones. Not walking. You'll know the difference because they have them in cute little colors. And basic colors for the men, if they desire. I have not had a blister at all since switching and no longer need to use the anti-chafe on my heels. (They have a website and usually always have a buy2 get 1 free special) in stores they do not have that sale. Average 15 dollars per pair.
I usually have to replace my shoes at about 400-425 miles, also! Which, in the grand scheme of things, is only about 3 1/2-4 months. Funny you should mention about the bruising of the knees, because that is exactly what happens to me. I am a "heel-first/striker," I am sure that has something to do with it (and added weight).

Hi. I as well wear double bras.
I have to look for those socks. Since surgery my feet sweat much more.
I try to buy under armour when I find it at Ross or Marshalls otherwise I wear Nike and addidas.. I wear running tights under my shorts to keep my thighs rubbing...
The weather here in my part of TX is usually very hot 95% of the year.
For running I wear Nike airmax, I find them very comfortable. I want to get my feet analyized so I will look for a running shoe store.
TMI but I need to ask its killing me.
How do u stop your body from needing to have a BM while running. I find since I started running it a stimulates and I thank god I do not need to take any type of meds for Constipation.
But it interferes with my running.... So far on my 5ks I have been very lucky with no urges.
I know this is the only place I could ask the question.
Thank you for understanding and helping me out.

Good morning ... I was in a bad rut...since on my vacation I did a lot of walking but have not ran for more than a wk. I was getting depressed because I couldn't get motivated to get out there and run.
This morning I am dressed and heading out the door.
Thank you all for your support.
Merry Christmas....

I was sleeved on dec the 13th and i am wondering if having some pozole the pollo kinda spicy would be ok? What do you all think? My sister makes it every year oh and tamales?? Maybe half of one?Thank you all for your responces in advance....love you all[/quote']
Hi, congrats on your surgery.
Are u on a full diet already? I was barely on full liquids going into pureed on day 12...
I would think your stomach would still be very sensitive to the spice food and all the manteca they use making the tamales.
Do not rush into eating heavy laden fat food..
I am almost 4 months out and very careful with what I eat, especially hot spice food.< /p>
Remember Protein first...ALWAYS...
Have a very merry Christmas with your loved ones

Hi, what really helps is logging your food and exercise. We use My fitness pal on our phones. It's a free app.
My handle is alliecat1095..
I would recommend you take your measurements weekly because once you have a stall it helps to know you are losing inches.
-
Sometimes I can't believe that I actually went through with this!but I'm glad that I did.
Good luck and take it one day at a time.

Good luck each and everyone of you. It is a very exciting experience.. I had my surgery on 8/29/12.
It is rough the first couple of days but remember sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk....
First couple of days you might not get to much fluids into your tummy. IT is swollen, irritated and very sore...
Don't try and rush into the next stage of your post-op. take it one day at a time..

Girl u need to stay on them....my surgeons office said that they had submitted a while ago so I called the insurance company myself...was told they where waiting on something simple...so called back my surgeon and they resubmitted today...2 hours later Approval!! Yay. Anyone know the post op process...need to know how long I NEED to be out of wrk;-)I was out of the office 3 wks , I was granted permission to work from home. . Some ppl I have read only take 3-4 days..
Everyone is different.
It does help to take at least a week or two to help get yourself situated with your new way of eating and exercising. My energy level was definitely very low in the afternoon. Good luck....
