  1. I did and it was SO worth it!!! They use a few different companies and I ended up using medloanfinance. The interest rate and fees suck but it's still worth it to get this surgery!

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

I still get confused how to tell when I'm hungry LOL I'm trying to just stick to 'eating' something every 3 hours like my doctor told me and it seems to be working. I DID figure out that when Elvira (my sleeve's name) is getting full I burp. LOL that oughta be interesting when I go back to work tomorrow hahaha Today is day 10 I guess.. sleeved on the 14th. Anyway I'm on full liquids and doing fine with them, definitely now I can feel a little restriction where I couldn't feel anything on clear liquids.. I think the clears just kinda go right thru and full liquids it takes longer maybe. I'm told that once we advance to more solid-ish foods we will feel more restriction and get better at being able to tell when we are full. I'm down 21 lbs since surgery!!!! YAY! I lost ZERO pounds on the pre op diet LOL yep you read that right. Story of my life.. it's why I got sleeved in the first place. I can't explain it but Elvira is working! I haven't had any pain or nausea and have been able to sleep on my stomach since the night after surgery. I'm just grateful I'm one of the ones who's had a relatively easy recovery from surgery! Oddly the head hunger is getting better, the first prob 4 or 5 days after I got home from the hospital all I could think about was cheeseburgers and pizza and diet coke and all the other stuff we can't have. Now I'm just going about my day and even though something looks or smells good it's no big deal. I hope it stays that way for awhile hahahahaha Anywhooooo, so glad to have all you guys on here, what a great support we have!
  3. Trish's facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/TrishyLupz her phone number is 661-886-4617 or 619-207-4114 I had a wonderful experience with her in TJ
  4. I was sleeved September 14th and today I am down 21 lbs! surgery was no big deal at all.. with the exception of my reaction to anesthesia. Both times I have had surgery I woke up VIOLENTLY ill and so I spent the first night after surgery violently dry heaving into a trash can... threw up so hard I had broken blood vessels on my face LOL I was worried that I mighta busted my staple line or something it was so bad but 2 leak tests were perfect and after the vomiting that first night I haven't had any problems whatsoever. I only needed minor pain meds that first night of surgery and then none after that. I was even sleeping on my stomach the 2nd night LOL have only had nausea one time since and it lasted about 15 minutes after I ate one too many bites of a creamy Soup.. still trying to get used to knowing when I'm full and so far the best way for me to tell is that I start burping hahaha I eat VERY slow now too. I was on clear liquids for 1 week and now full liquids for 1 week then I can try out some pureed foods. I am taking it slow though, I wanna keep Elvira (that's what I named my sleeve) happy!!! As of today I feel that this is one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself! I am SO glad I did this and I feel blessed that I've had such an easy recovery!

    Sushi?

that sounds delicious! will have to try it when I get to "regular food" again LOL I think I'm just a bit bored with full liquids and Protein shakes and that's prob why I was dreaming that I was eating sushi hahahaha I've got at least a couple weeks still but it's nice to be able to look forward to a couple bites of one of my fav foods and to know that there ARE healthier option than what I've ordered in the past

Syntrax Nectar, it's a yummy protein powder, there's tons of yummy flavors google and you'll find lots of places that sell variety packs so you can try different flavors before you buy a big container
  9. I am 8 days out and still learning. Tonight I guess i ate one bite too many of creamed soup and all of a sudden I was nauseous LOL like outta nowhere. Guess maybe I need to slow down even more and pay closer attention LOL
  10. we are the 3 amigos of sleeve sisterhood hahahaha seriously for everyone getting ready to get sleeved, it SO helps if you can connect with one or two people through the forums, especially if they are going to be staying at the same hotel. I was so lucky to have these other 2 ladies to bond over stomach gurgling and burping with me hahaha walk walk walk sip sip sip! and we are keeping in touch and comparing notes as we progress through post op diet

they make Gas-X strips that melt in your mouth.. that way you don't have to swallow anything!
  14. I feel like I am constantly sipping on something LOL my doctor told me to "eat" (have broth or soup) every 3-4 hours with Water in between

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

I was sleeved on 9-14 so I'm 6 days post op and down 17 lbs since surgery LOL I have no idea how that is even possible and checked both scales 3 times LOL I'm doing full liquids and tolerating it fine, no nausea or anything. Been off pain meds since the night of surgery and the only thing bothering me is all the burping and the itchy incisions LOL that's a small price to pay for my health! I go back to work Tuesday so I'm resting up and getting in my walking!
  16. I had my surgery on Friday September 14th in Mexico.. came home with a post op diet that doesn't mention protein much LOL anyway I've noticed that post op diets vary incredibly from one surgeon to the next and I'm wondering if any of y'all were allowed full liquids (protein shakes) in the first week after surgery? I'm still doing clear liquids as suggested on MY doctor's paperwork.. thanks!

    Post Op Diet

I'm doing great!!! no nausea or anything, getting all my water and stuff. Pre op diet is just 3 days yogurt and water. I didn't lose anything pre op LOL I had a great experience with Dr Ponce and Trish! if you haven't already check out my pics in the link in my signature, it really helped me to feel more comfortable after seeing a couple other people's photos on here

    Post Op Diet

I agree 100% about the wild variation in post op diets!!!!! my doc's diet says Clear Liquids for 10 days then full liquids for another 10. I am 6 days post op. I've been getting in lots of Water, broth, and sugar free popsicles. I also had some SF Jello but took really small bites and chewed the crap out of it LOL I also am tired of liquids hahaha the other 2 girls that had surgery with me in Mexico the same day went to 2 other doctors and have 2 completely different post op diets. One's says she has to do clear liquids for only 3 days then "home soft diet". After talking to LOTS of people on here and other forums and reading LOTS of other doctor's diet plans I decided to add in some Protein shakes yesterday. It really helped me with energy levels and today I feel basically normal. The only way I can tell I had surgery is because I'm not hungry LOL 3 of my very good "in person" friends all had to be able to tolerate a small amount of Protein shake before they could even leave the hospital! Basically I'm sticking with clear liquids and Protein Shakes for now and taking it VERY slow.. but I'm also very interested in what other people's doctors are saying. Something must be working though.. down 17 lbs already since surgery (blows my mind!)

    Return To Work?

I had surgery on the 14th and 6 days later I don't feel like I had surgery either LOL I'm off work until Tuesday the 25th but I really believe I could already be back I am a nurse in a busy Operating Room in a trauma hospital so the trick is gonna be not lifting anything. DEFINITELY doable though because I plan on just asking all the residents and med students around to do any lifting for me for a few weeks. My only real worry was that I work 12 hr shifts so we will see how that goes. Fortunately during long surgeries I get to sit a lot
  20. loved this article, thanks for sharing!!! lots of good info for us who are new to being sleeved. I'm only 6 days out and wondering what the future holds. LOL I had THOUGHT I had a pretty good idea what to expect before I had the surgery but now I think I really couldn't have understood what this would be like until I'd done it.. for me at least.. for example I can't believe I'm not hungry, like not at all. It's weird but it sounds like once the swelling goes down and I'm healed up that physical hunger will come back to some degree. Thanks for sharing this!!!!
  21. it WAS fun!!!! who woulda thunk it?! hahahaha great meeting you guys too! so glad I've got some sleeve sisters to compare notes with! oh and I would LOVE a reunion!
