Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

think I FINALLY broke the stall I've been in.. I was sleeved 9/14/12, surgery weight 262..and around week 3 the stall hit me.. was stuck at 230lbs for almost 2 weeks. This morning scale said 228!! woohooo! still haven't had any problem with nausea or reflux at all, after reading some of your posts I feel lucky LOL so far so good!

me too LOL I added greenfamily004 haha I LOVE MFP!!!! anyone not using it should check it out. I love that it allows me to keep track of EVERYTHING I put in my mouth, including vitamins (I put them in as snacks haha) you can easily see how much of each nutrient you are getting each day and it makes me feel accountable

Ahhhh Why Am I So Hungry!

I think it's pretty common to feel like that in the first couple weeks especially. I remember just wanting to chew something so bad! Mine was ALOT head hunger from boredom... also if you aren't already definitely talk to your doctor about taking a PPI. I felt very hungry when I was taking the Protonix that the surgeon sent me home with.. but when I ran out and started taking my Prilosec again the hunger STOPPED. No joke. I keep reading that alot of times what we interpret as hunger is actually too much acid in our stomachs.. just something to look into
  7. I felt the same way!!! LOL if we are paranoid lunatics, at least we are not alone hahahaha I was sleeved on 9-14-12 and I haven't had ANY pain or nausea or complication. (well actually immediately after I woke up from surgery I was dry heaving but that happens to me EVERY time I have anesthesia and it's a side effect) My energy level was WAY better starting about day 3.. I'm not hungry but I'm able to get in about 60 grams Protein and 55-80 oz. water/day. I was back at work and able to work 13 hour shifts on my feet (I'm a nurse in a very busy hospital OR) after a week off. I am so so so grateful that I've had such a great recovery so far. I DID spend the first week or two wondering when the other shoe was gonna drop but now I'm just enjoying each day as it comes and I pray that I do not get any complications down the road. I also feel horrible for those who have had a difficult recovery from surgery or complications, wouldn't wish that on anyone!!!!
  8. I was sleeved on 9-14-12. Pre-op: 262 lbs. Today: 230 lbs. I lost nothing pre op, I stalled for a week at week #3 then dropped a bunch.. now I seem to be stalled again LOL I track EVERYTHING in MFP because I figure I am just now (at age 38) learning how to eat healthy. I must have missed that day in kindergarten when they taught everyone else how to eat hahaha p.s. you can find me on MFP, angelsept19
  9. I've only had one since surgery but it was 7 days late (my TOM ran like clockwork every 28 days exactly pre op) and then I had HORRIBLE cramps for 5 days before I actually started. Then, the day it stopped I started getting hot flashes! LOL had the hot flashes for 2 days and now I'm back to 'normal' me again hahaha I'm definitely not in menopause and my doctor said that all the weirdness is a direct result of all the estrogen that is getting dumped into my system as I burn fat. This too shall pass... eventually. LOL
  10. I have been wondering about this too.. just like everything else WLS-related, it seems every surgeon has a different answer. I am also a nervous nellie about my new tummy and am 1 month post op and still being VERY careful with what I choose to put in it.

    Any September People

is anyone else getting nervous about eating "real food" again? I was sleeved on 9-14-12 and down 32 lbs. I've been eating "real food" but mostly sticking with mushy stuff and still have at least one meal per day protein shake. I get worried that eating real food is going to lead me back down that slippery slope again LOL pre op I lived off of fast food and junk and whatever tasted good. I'm making good healthy choices so far but it feels "safer" to stick with shakes and pureed and soft stuff still. Been eating lots of scrambled eggs, refried beans with cheese, soups, greek yogurt, and cottage cheese. I'm getting about 500-700 cal/day, but usually I'm right around 600.
  12. just went to find some new pants and a top so that I have something that is "business casual" in my closet.. and pre op I was a 22/24 pant and GUESS WHAT?! size 18 pants fit me!!!!!! I'm SO excited! I'm still wearing a 1X top though (blame on my tatas hahaha) but I started at size 2- 3X tops pre op so I'm pretty happy about that! I know I have a long way to go but I'm on my way folks! SO happy I got sleeved! the first pic is of me at Venice Beach just before surgery.. weighed 262 lbs there. the next 2 pics I took today while trying on the size 18 pants!!!!!! YAY! today I am 3 weeks post op and weigh 235.. that's 27 lbs lost so far I just realized the pics are little but if you click on them you can see the bigger version!
  13. sleeved 9/14/12, day of surgery 262 lbs today 10/10/12, 231 lbs! I am down 31 lbs so far!!! yipee! (I did not lose anything on pre op diet) Am going to weigh in again on my 30th day so that I can get a 'one month total'. I did stall for a week on my 3rd week.
  14. like Frza said it really is hard to say.. everyone seems to heal differently. I was out shopping and walking all over the place 2 days post op and didn't have ANY pain after surgery.. but I've heard others say they were tired and needed to take pain meds. I work as an RN and spend 13 hours on my feet and was fine going back to work after 10 days.. but I was fairly active pre op. My mom was tired the whole first month after she had RNY and wanted to sleep all the time LOL she was 25 yrs older and much less active pre op though. Also I haven't had any complications at all.. maybe like the other poster said you could move your surgery date up a week to be safe? buy yourself some time just in case you don't feel up to going to work so soon? I knew I wouldn't be able to take any more time off work and I wanted this surgery so bad I just took a chance and I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO glad I did.. and my best guess is that you would be ok to follow your plan but prob best to have a back up plan just in case

    Hot Flashes?

omg I feel like this too!!! I just texted my mom that I think I'm having hot flashes! LOL I'm at work and dripping sweat and it's not even hot! Yuck. I might have to change my scrubs later too
  16. I stood up this morning to go get coffee and my pajama pants fell off and hit the floor hahahaha YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! normally I would have been horrified, but I actually shouted "YES!". I should mention no one else was around to witness my awkward moment LOL also, all my jeans look like I took a dump in them because the butt is sagging so much.. need to try a smaller size I guess! gotta go.. time to hit up Goodwill for some new clothes

Just Want To Say "thank You"

I went to Mexico on 9-14-12 too and I would do it again. I truly had better care there than when I've been in the hospital in the US. I am a nurse and was paying attention to details... they did an excellent job!

    Ladies, Tom Question!

SO glad I'm not alone. I read about all this pre op but never thought it'd be me LOL I was sleeved 9-14-12 so this is my first cycle since then... I was about a week late starting my period then it BARELY started then stopped completely for a day and I thought "oh cool that was easy". PSYCHE. Then it came back with a vengeance. It was like the period demons invaded my uterus. I have had god-awful cramps for a week and can't take my ibuprofen anymore.. oh and the PMS symptoms are horrible LOL yesterday I was sitting home alone and started crying for no reason then I decided that maybe I'm just lonely because I'm not married (and no kids) and was *THIS CLOSE* to calling an ex boyfriend!!! EEK. hahahahaha thank GOD I realized it was my brain under the influence of hormones and I snapped out of it and called one of my friends and she laughed her butt off. I've never had such dramatic moods from hormones.. God help us all. I think maybe I just oughta stay in the confines of my home until this is over.. for public safety. LOL

    Oh All This Burping

burping is one way I can tell I'm 'full' hahaha I burp and sometimes hiccup when my tummy has had enough. Sometimes the burp and hiccup happen at the same time, which can be really interesting when I'm at work hahahahahahahaha
