Sleeved on July 26th 2012 and have dropped 5 pounds. Man that took awhile. I started this whole process almost 1 year ago and in total have lost 34 pounds. This is slow going and I know now that this is definitely a tool and not a miracle surgery. I have always challenged things I "have to" do and it is painfully apparent that it is up to me to use this new tool properly. I pray for strength and direction for success.

Yes Kay. I have been on somewhat of a roller coaster too. There are several dynamics at work here. Hormones, life changes, not being able to turn to food. This is my experience. I have snapped at strangers and just been like whoa where did that come from. We need to cut ourselves a break, this is a huge life change and our bodies and mind need a chance to adjust. There are several posts here that address it. In the search bar type hormones and there are several descriptions of what our bodies are going through. I wish u well . Suzie

I'm with ya. I'm not taking in 500/600 calories though. I'm averaging 900 a day. Some folks have very little intake. I have healed very quickly. I need to increase my exercise though.

If You Had The Choice - Would You Do It Again?
suzjag replied to Babysteppin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A word of caution. Do not underestimate the impact of not having food to "lean on". I feel a huge void and am aware that this is a good thing but a struggle nonetheless. I knew I loved food and used it in some negative ways but the level of addiction was somewhat surprising and evident when it was no longer an option. Lots of tears and some intense anxiety. I'm a little over 2 weeks postop and have had bouts of regret but overall I know I've made the right decision. I guess what I'm trying to say is do some serious soul searching and learn as much as possible about emotional eating and head hunger. I researched for 4 yrs off and on and tossed it around. I am 50 and knew that it was time and that if I hadn't been successful getting the weight of by now it wasn't going to happen. My health was suffering and I could see my future and it was not good. It is a very big decision and I admire you gathering all the information available. Good luck and u will have no lack of input and support on this forum. -
Good luck a new life on the horizon

I am starting to feel pretty lost. I haven't seen my surgeon yet for my first postop and I will be 3 weeks out when I do. His office is 4 hours away. I have called with a couple questions but that's it. I really need some direction starting to feel like I'm not on track. I just realized I should be supplementing my calcium and B -12. I totally spaced it. Ugh! guess I just need to regroup

Took alot of guts to post your errors. I admire the hell out of that. We ALL know that is our worst fear. Thanks for being real and helping us all.

Thanks Gman I am just sooo frustrated. I'm not a very patient person so that's an issue. Lol. I want results yesterday. I have taken some liberties with my diet but haven't exceeded about 900 cal a day. Then I see I should be between 500-700 cal. When I heard this originally I thought it was due to not being able to consume more right after surgery. I adjusted quickly to soft food so not hard to hit the 900 cals. I pulled out all my literature and am gonna go back to basics. Again thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks for the advise, I do have written dietary instructions. I had no idea for instance that there is a cut off for calories. I have barely lost any weight. My surgery was July 26th and I have barely lost anything. . I seriously feel like a total failure.

Had Surgery Thursday. When Does Nausea Go Away?
suzjag replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hated that feeling! Did you get anti nausea meds? Like compazine? I felt like once I was properly hydrated the nausea was gone. Lasted only 2 days or so for me. -
Looking good congrats!

Should I worry? Feels pretty intense tonight.

I'm wondering the same thing. I had a hernia repaired with my sleeve. Can someone explain the reason for the heartburn.

I've lost 16 lbs in one month, pre and post op. I'm at 2 weeks post op today. Anyone have similar results? A lot of folks have such higher numbers. Anyone like me?
