Hi Darianna, how are you doing so far?
-
I'm from Oxford, MA but living in New Bedford for over 25 years. Sleeved 7/1/13 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. My surgeon was Dr. Kruger. One year out, and only 1 lb from my goal weight. Very happy with my sleeve!
I'm also in New Bedford and sleeved by Dr. Kruger 10/30/12

I am skating (roller derby) for 2 hours x3 a week. I would think it is a lot of cardio but some strength also. I haven't gained any weight but I do fluctuate the same few pounds from week to week (for 3 months now).
What is roller derby if u don't mind me asking?

I have NHP with mass health and didn't have to do the 6 month weigh ins and gained 14 pounds and had no issues at all.

No I don't include whole grains, vegetables, and dairy in my diet with the exception of cheese because of the carbs. I eat pure protein and good amounts of it. A friend recently gave me info on the Atkins diet carb free to get me past my stall. This concerns me. Maybe you mean simple carbs/sugars? Please say you're eating veggies and whole grains as we all need a well rounded diet though most of us concentrate on getting in a doctor-recommended amount of Protein.< /p>

Welcome and Congrats!!

OK I never said that I'm eating carbs I simply asked how does one burn carbs. The only carbs I'm assuming is my coffee creamer daily!

Does anyone know if while we're burning calories at the gym are we also burning carbs?

Good luck! When seeing a new primary they usually like to get to know you before giving you referrals especially something like this. I hope switching doesn't hold up and you have to wait awhile..
Hey everyone, just wanted to jump in and say hello. i've been reading these boards for 9 months, since i was diagnosed with HBP/Type II Diabetes/High Cholesterol. I was having trouble trying to conceive and my new OB noticed how high my A1C levels were. They told me not to get pregnant until I got my blood sugar under control… For the last 6 months, I've been trying to convince myself that I could lose the weight and reverse the Diabetes the old fashioned way-by working out and modifying my diet… Well, here we are, 6 months later and I'm 5lbs more than when I was diagnosed. . I finally decided today was the day to make the change and start getting better. I called Dr. McCluney's office to schedule an appointment, but my primary won't refer to him as he is out of network. So now I am switching to a new primary doc and waiting for that appointment, because my insurance requires a referral and I can't see Dr.Mc without one. Fingers crossed that I can get in with a new primary soon and get this all going. Initial consults for Dr. Mc are already into July for Brockton, so I'd have to see him at St. Elizabeth's in Brighton for a quicker appointment. The receptionist that helped me in the Brockton location was lovely and so helpful, and it seems from all of your comments and recommendations that all the staff are great, so I'm looking forward to the process. I love reading all of your stories and updates. It's giving me such great motivation and inspiration.

Were you hypoglycemic by an chance...I think this is something that dr's should look into because I have been told some times my blood pressure is low but since I have put on about 20lbs in last 5 months I have been told its getting kinda high...not sure but another thing for us to be cautious of
No I've never had any medical issues

Thanks I have tried the dr route and the dr don't know why maybe I need to go back to the surgeon. My pulse has been really high since surgery so I was thinking that might be why and been seeing a cardiologist but he can't figure out why. I'm on a really low carb diet like the only carbs I have is in my shakes. I will try increasing them and see if it works!!

I feel dizzy a lot. It seems that when I get up I'm always getting dizzy while I walk like I'm walking and I can't see ahead of me and sometimes i start shaking. I have to stop walking and stand still for just a few seconds and then I'm fine. This has already happened about 6 times today. I'm 15 months post op and this has been happening since early on post op.

Hi fellow Massachusetts sleevers. I'm in Salem MA, having my sleeve at North Shore Medical Center in Salem, MA on December 9. I'm revising from the band which was taken out in April. Can't wait for my sleeve, I'm just finishing up week one of the liquid diet. Glad to meet you all.

I lost 18 my first week and I know many that have lost quite a bit the first week have u called your dr that doesn't sound right to me
I was sleeved last Thursday' date=' 10/17. On the day of surgery, I weighed 302.6. I weighed myself this morning (6 days later) and was 301. I know people say to never use the word "only" with regard to a loss, but seriously?! Shouldn't I be dropping tons of weight in the beginning? Has anyone else started this slowly and then picked up?[/quote']
