This is such a great thing to do.
I confess that the biggest reason for me to have the op is so I can have another baby.
I confess I don't eat all my Protein or drink enough Water most days (I find it hard and I forget to eat)
I confess I am scared to be skinny (as I have never been)
I confess I am so worried about excess skin
I confess I am also worried about regaining weight and going back to being fat
Wow I feel so much better

    Hello everyone,
So happy to find other Australians let alone people from Brisbane. I live on the northside at Bray Park. But I had my surgery last Monday 23rd. From the day I sure my surgeon (dr rob finch) I was booked in and got my earlier super through and paid a day after my op.
I am now 5 days out and am really good, finding it hard to get in my 1500ml of liquid. But from my 2 week pre op shakes to today I have lost 11.5kgs. My dietitian didn't care what shakes I did so I had some celebrity slim and I did those for 2 weeks.
My starting weight was 155kgs, BMI of 48. I have had problems all my life with my weight and I feel scared, relief, stress, happy and every other emotion at this time.
To answer the people that are asking about early release of super. I don't have private health and wasn't going to join and then have to wait 12 months. So I got all my letters from my GP and specialist, plus all my quotes. Then had to send it to DHS for approval, that takes 10 days for the approval letter, then you send that letter to your fund and thru will release what DHS says. They will tell your super fund the net amount needed, but unfortunately they cannot release more that $10000.
My doctor does usually work out of a private hospital but does an immediate service once a month at RBWH. I was lucky to get on that. My price all up was $4500 for doctor, $1370 for anaethetist and hospital was $324 per night plus prothestics for the op. approx all up it cost me $8900.
Hope this helps answer some of your questions. Please ask if you need more info.
Would love to be able to catch up with anyone in Brisbane.

Scotty I echo what the others have said, definitely speak to a nutritionist. I would also see your GP and do blood work, see if you are low on things like B12 and Iron which help with energy levels. I know I had B12 issues and got the shot/s and started to feel better.
I also started out eatting toast for breakky, which left me with a queasy feeling...now I have greek yoghurt and some Cereal or muesli. When I felt ill in the morning it made the rest of the day just feel off.
Good luck and i hope you are able to get it sorted soon.
SwiftKate, hope you are doing better. From memory the runs were part of the first few weeks purely because of the liquid diet, things are a bit freer...for me it did get better after moving to more solid food.
Today has been one of those days were I realise how much things have changed for me since the surgery, confidence wise. I am actually shocked/surprised this happened. Long story short cause of the ankle I have been home more frequently and last week ran into this really (seems really nice guy) in my lift and we had some chats. Anyway I was always with some carer so it didnt go any further. But I didnt know what apartment he lived in, just his floor. So I wrote a note and put it in all the apartments on his floor, saying you know would you like to have a coffee or something. Did this Sunday and really didnt think anything would come of it...anyway today I got a text message from him wanting to know if I wanted to get lunch with him. Which was sad cause I was actually at work so couldnt, anyway we have agreed to try another day....
But if nothing comes of it, fine, but 1. I had the confidence to put myself out there 2. I was engaging enough (broken ankle and all) that he remembered me and was interested enough to get in touch.
Maybe this ankle thing was for the best......Sorry I was just so excited it happened I had to share

Hey everyone, again it's been a while since I last posted, but have been keeping up with the posts.
Just thought I would share its my 6 months surgiversary tomorrow (23rd). My stats are 44kgs down. Still have 31kgs to go. My weight has also been slowing. Have hit a few stalls along the way and I usually mix up my calories with a cheap meal and it starts to drop again.
Kelliv - don't stress about the 1 kg gain, I have gained 600g in the last week. But I think it's because of the extra Water I am drinking at its so bloody hot.
My daily intake is either a coffee or just milk for Breakfast, morning tea is tuna and crackers, lunch is either Protein and salad or sushi or egg omelette thing I make, afternoon tea is fruit, then dinner is Protein and veggies and sometimes carbs. Plus heaps if Water.
Aussiegirl - great to hear you moving to a moon boot, more movement
Puppyphat - hope you feel better
Swiftkate - great to hear you are doing well
To everyone else it's great hearing all your positive and helpful comment. I feel very supported in here.

Hi guys - first time poster, long time reader...have been following everyone's ups and downs since I was sleeved on 31 October, so Ii feel like I know you all already!
I'm down 20kg (yay) and just have to share something with people who will understand - today I got on my new bike that I got for Christmas and went for a ride with my hubby and kids. I haven't been on a bike in over 20 years!! We rode around the bike paths for about an hour, and I can't wipe the smile off my face... No doubt I'll have sore legs tomorrow, but I'm so proud of myself!!
Look forward to getting to know you all better.

OMG OMG OMG I went shopping today for new clothes - it was getting dire lol. But I was able to shop at Katies. That's a "normal" store! I didn't even go into Autograph or anything! What an absolutely amazing feeling! And the sales people didn't look like I'd grown two heads by walking in the door. Admittedly, I still bought the largest size in the store (an XL) but it was awesome!! Love my sleeve!!!

Saw the first photo since starting this journey that i loved this week. I have been really struggling with still seeing myself as fat. I'm now 62.5kg but until seeing this photo, still felt like I was 100kg. I won't post the pic because it has my daughter in it, but thought I'd share my NSV.

Great news. sleep doc very happy with my weight loss and I can stop using my CPAP machine straight away. YIPEE!!! This was a major goal and a big reason I had the surgery. I still have to do another sleep study on 13 January, but she thinks it unlikely that I will need it ongoing. Again, this is the best thing I could have done for my health.

Hi aussie kelloff, you are an inspiration!!!!! In a perfect world I probably need to lose as much as you, but with my history of two failed Bands I have set my goal a lot lower and would be happy with losing 50 kg and anything more will be a bonus! But I am open to changing the goalposts if I can be as successful as you have been.
Well Done!!!!!!!!!!!!! keep up the good work.!!!!!

Hit the 40kg loss mark yesterday. Very excited as its only 4 1/2 months out. I have lost less than that before and it's taken be over 12 months.
Just brings me closer to my goal, I now have less to lose than what I have lost, hope that make sense. Only 35kg to go.
Heading out tony work Xmas party this Saturday, am so looking forward to it. Might even get in some photos. Considering the photo I found of myself last year was absolutely horrid.

NSV this morning I fitted into my size M BeMe shirt that my mother optimistically bought for me about 12 months ago. It even has satin trim on it - that's a non-stretch material lol And it fits great!!! What an awesome way to start my Monday!!!!
Hope you're all having similarly good days!

Had a great time last night. Good ego boost which was a nice change. My best friend who does not support what I have done (pure jealously) had a Christmas party. I wore my new size 12 NYDJ jeans for the first time and had compliments from every person there except her. I felt fabulous and enjoyed the positive attention. I knew I looked the best I have been in 20 years and she hated it!! I've never discussed my surgery with her after initially telling her I was having it and now just let the results to date speak for themselves.

I just had a share a yay moment as no one else would understand.
I am looking for a dress for a nye wedding my husband and I are going to and have been looking for a few weeks now but it so hard as not sure how much weight I will be at to drop by then, but went into autograph and saw a gorgeous dress (30% off helps too) tried it on in a size 20, thought I might be able to go down a size but the lady said try on the 16, and it looked awesome and actually fit (yes I know there 16s are on the bigger size) but it was still a 16. I am paying $90 for it but hopefully will get more that one wear out of it.
