I'm more concerned with how they are affecting you. I hope they are not scaring you. The truth is that WL surg is the ONLY known WL method that statistically works. That means that while we can always find a few exceptions where people have lost and maintained a large amount of weight---almost all people who lose without WLS end up gaining it all back. If anyone doubts that -- all they have to do is go to Pub-Med and read the abstracts on weight loss methods over the last 40 yrs. Research very clearly shows that WLS is signficantly successful for most people who get it.
I got the LB in spring of 2008 and it has changed my life. Now everyone at work tells me that I'm a great inspiration. Even the ones who are not overweight say that I'm inspiring them to take better care of themsleves. Most of the overweight ones have asked me for a heart-to-heart talk about WLS. They have found someone they can confide in about their weight problem. Some of them have now gotten the LB too. I'm now 1 of the oldest people in my workplace but I now look like the youngest. My boss came to my office to tell me how pleased she is to see so many people in my office taking better care of their health and she says it's because they are following my lead. So ---- you GO girl! Don't let people bother you!

My brother in law posed the same question to me... if you have lost so much "pre surgery" why go through with it? Just as someone stated previously, this is a lifestyle change. The band is a tool that we will use to aid in our healthier eating choices. Negativity get's under my skin in the worst way but do your best to ignore and stop explaining. This is your choice, your body, your life! Best of luck to you!

    Hey Rookies.
As i often do, i was thinking of ways i can help guide you thru some of your frustrations and questions.. been reading alot about food getting stuck. Primarily because you're eating bread still. Not going to lecture you about it, But rather give you a trick to try. take a small glass of Water, and take a bite size piece of bread, the one you are considering eating. put that bite size piece into the glass of water, let it sit and watch. This is exactly what is happening in your Pouch, Not Stomach, remember you have a smaller stomach and the remainder is sorta like a catch basin. You'll see how much thatsmall piece expands to a large piece in seconds. so if it's that big in the glass, imagine your pouch. I know it's hard to avoid bread. But if you are going to eat bread again I tell you all. you have Options.
    1. You can get the Ultra thin sliced bread, (Arnold's makes white & wheat) and toast it. If you are going to eat a bagel, Remove the inide Dough just eat the crust. You're going to discover Crispy & Crunchy are your Allies Soft & Chewy are Foes. Triscuits, Wheat thins, Saltines.. the possiblilites are endless.. Just Think Outside the Box. roam the isles of super market, you may discover something you never knew exsisted that can be an Allie

I always had problems with multi-Vitamins, but when I got the band it was even worse. Because I don't eat as much, I always got the children's gummy vitamins so it didnt upset my stomach so much, but I didn't feel like i was getting what I needed.
But I recently found the One a Day VitaCraves Multi-Vitamin. I LOVE them. I take the one with immunity support as I work in healthcare setting so high immunity is always a plus!
The bottle says to take 2 a day, so I take one in the morning and one before bed. I havent felt nauseous once from them, which is wonderful!
Just thought I'd share on here for those who may not have seen them before

Hi! Congrats on your new band I was banded 7/2010. Since then I am down 96lbs. I am only 20lbs away from goal. It wasn't an easy road to get here, and I had many ups and downs. But it was worth it. My advice for anyone new with the band is you have to diet and exercise. You have to change your way of thinking when it comes to food. The band is only a tool; you have to make it work. Too many people believe its some magic little device that will make them drop weight without having to do anything. That's far from the truth. Make better choices when it comes to your foods and you'll see the weight come off. Also, for the past year I've been using the myfitnesspal app in my phone. It makes you accountable for everything that goes into your mouth. We don't realize how many calories we consume. But this app/website helps with that. I wish you lots of luck on your new journey!!!! Keep us posted
