  3. Hi guys. I haven't been on here in a while but I wanted to check in and see how my results are comparing with everyone else. I was banded last February so I am 13 months in and I have lost 90 pounds. Is that good? I still would like to lose another 60 so I'm more than halfway there, but I was looking for some motivation. I lost the first 65 pounds by the band alone. That took about 9 months. Since then I have been dieting (well, watching like I've been supposed to all along) and exercising 6 days a week along with strength training. I lost another 25 pounds doing that but the results I am seeing in my body are more impressive than the numbers. Anyway, if anyone else is one year in and you can share your story with me, I'd appreciate it! Talk to you soon!
  4. First of all I want to say thank you to everyone who posts here! I need to lose a lot of weight and I was very discouraged to see people who only had 50 or 60 pounds to lose. I was afraid that myabe I had made the wrong choice. I'm glad to see that I was wrong. There are a lot of people here who have lost a lot of weight. I want to be one of you! Now, to my question. I lost 15 pounds post op. Then between my surgery and my first fill, I gained 3 pounds. For my first fill (week 6) I got 1cc. It's didn't seem to make a dent in what I could eat or how much. I did lose 2 of the 3 pounds though. 2 weeks later I got a second fill, another cc. That night it was so tight that I couldn't even swallow my own spit!! I figured it was just swelling so I waited another day and on the third day I called my doc. He said I was probably too tight and I should come back to have some taken out but I wanted to wait because I assumed I was still swollen. All along I was hoping that when the swelling went down I would have great restriction. How lucky could I be to be well resticted after only 2 fills! Anyway, I am one week past my fill and I still can't eat. I can only drink room temp tea cause even water hurts. I can eat pudding and cottage chesse but not much else. I lost 16 pounds and I am thrilled but I am afraid that something bad may happen. I don't have any pain other than when I try to eat or drink COLD drinks. What should I do? Is there a chance that I am still swollen? I want to keep losing, I don't feel bad that I can't eat much, I'm not hungry, but I am afraid of a slip. Help! Any advice would be great. Thanks!
  5. LapBandit! Wow! That is so great to hear! I am really happy for you and now I am so excited because I know that if I try hard enough it IS possible. My goal at this point is 140-150. If I could lose weight as fast as you I would definately be there before my one year anniversary. I hope you would be willing to share some of your tips with me. I've dieted a hundred different times in my life and I know I could do it again if I were actually seeing the results. I am so excited now. Thank you!
  6. I just wanted to say Hi to everyone. I'm new here and I'm glad I found you guys. I weighed close to 300 ponds when I was banded 3 weeks ago. I was excited to find this site but I was disappointed to see so many people who have (compared to me) so little weight to lose. I was wondering what to expect in the first 6 months. Is it reasonable to think that I could lose over 50 pounds? If so, would that be just based on the restriction alone or with a strict diet and exercise? So far, I only lost 15 pounds and that was in the first week. For the past 2 weeks, I haven't lost any. Is that normal? I am starting to get my appetite back... big time. And the healing is going well so I am eating a lot more. I have to admit, I am not making the best choices when I eat. I thought that the "last supper" phase had passed. I didn't realize that I would be able to eat so much before my first fill. Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!
  7. That's a great question and it one of my fears too. I had to take out a loan for my surgery. Only my first three follow up appointments are covered with my doc. I have an appointment with him later this week and I better ask him what his policy is. I suppose each surgeon is different, but I will check back if I find out anything.
  8. Wow, this is neat. I thought I was the only one. I felt so guilty that the simplest things made me so tired. On Tuesday, 5 days post-op, I volunteered at a dinner at church. I was pooped, and very sore. But today I feel much better. I didn't even take any pain meds. Good thing too cause I have to go back to work tomorrow. And the little hiccup/burp things are a bit uncomfortable. I get so worried that the pain I feel is the band slipping. Hope that doesn't last very long.

    Gas Pains UGH!!

It's funny but I didn't realize that these strange pains were gas! Wow, that's a relief. It makes sense now though. LOL

    Newbie Here!

Hi, I'm new here. Just joined today. I was banded last wednesday. I'll have to keep you posted on how things go for me. I'm actually here to get some advice myself. I paid cash for my surgery. I actually met my surgeon for the first time on January 2nd. I thought things moved fairly quickly. They wanted me to take my time and research things and make sure I wasn't rushing into anything. I had already done a lot of research, but I had to convince my family that I was really serious about this. Let me know what you decide to do. Keep me posted and good luck!
