Thanks Stef, this looks like a keeper! :-) Salt
  2. What is it (my new profile picture) you might ask? It is the gap between me and the tray table on the airline flying from Auckland to San Francisco. Please note that the table is not resting on my stomach and I am not wearing a seatbelt extension!

  3. Stuck at about 225 to 227 lbs. Need to hit the treadmill and cut about 50 calories, I think.

Aussiegirl you are amazing. I am no where near as successful as you have been in losing half your body weight! Well done you! I am not even thinking about reconstructive surgery yet. I am afraid I will be looking to for advice and experience in this regard. Good luck and stay in touch.

  6. Got my new Fitbit from my Vertical Sleeve Talk pal Kirk today. Now I have no more excuses for not keeping track of my food intake and activity levels. Gee thanks Kirk! LOL

  7. Well on the move again in a downward direction. 225 lbs. with 16 lbs. more to go until goal weight by May 2014. Let's hope it continues this way for the rest of my stay here in the U.S.

  8. Arrived in Baltimore at 7:30 a.m. Friday. What a disruption long distance air travel is to WL efforts. Got to get back into the groove and on track for the next 6 months of my WL journey/efforts. t

  9. Arrived in San Francisco around 1:00 p.m. PT. I took pictures of the gap between my tray table and my body. First time that I can remember that the tray table didn't have to rest/ride on my belly fat. Wahoo!

  10. Well got my hair cut today and have no more denial about the hair I have lost since surgery. Good news is their is new growth showing up there somewhere! Here's unupdated photo of me with the new haircut and the newer 88 lb. lighter body.

  13. Welcome to the group. I accepted my 1st member to this group today. I figured I would have to post something here for both of us to see. Anyway, not a lot out on the subject of Lesbian women and weight loss surgery and our issues. I know were are special, but not that unique to the problems of weight and weight loss. These folks seem to find it hard to hook up with other as well, it seems. Good luck with your surgery, Stay Strong and Be Well! Let's get the party (and this room) started. www.starrquality.com/Starr_Quality/A_Lesbians_Weightloss_Surgery_Journey/A_Lesbians_Weightloss_Surgery_Journey.htm
  14. Here's a great find for getting all that water in, each and every day! I like cold water, but after a while, plain water, becomes just boring. Here's a great low cost, low calorie, way to get those fluids in and keep those hard lost pounds off. http://zinganything.com/product/aquazinger

Bea you look so good in these latest pictures. I am so happy for you. I hope I get to look this good sometime soon. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
  18. Well after having a long hard reflective talk with myself, I got back on the x-trainer for 45 mins. today. I still have the Fibro pain, but I can't afford to not loose as many of those burdensome pounds, as possible over the next 12 months of my "Golden Window". Happy 6 month post operative anniversary to me!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Well. . . I am just about 6 months post op now. I was warned that wt. loss would slow down considerably at this point in the journey. My Fibromyalgia pain has returned with a vengeance with the cool and damp of winter arriving. I had been warned that this might happen as well post operatively. I have been laying of my cross-trainer, which I had been doing 50 min. a day, Mon. through Fri. Combine these things and I am feeling the pain of very poor wt. loss at the moment. I have also listened to a few long term WLS folks on here in the chat room, lamenting not doing all they could have/should have during their 1st 18 months post op. I am concerned. I also need to work on getting my head into this more consistently. I don't want to be one of those people say if only i had . . . . whatever. I leave for an extended visit in the U.S. soon, and will be living with my 90 yr. old dad, who hasn't seen me since months before my surgery. I need to establish the game plan/rules when I get there. Hopefully, the warm of summer will help me feel better and get moving again, literally. I will be in the U.S. up until almost the 1 year mark of my sleeve surgery that was on 11/29/12. Hopefully, I can get re-motivated and inspired for the next 6 months, to make the best possible gains during this time. The last 6 months of the "golden window" will be spend back here in New Zealand, in the summer months here. How are the rest of you staying motivated and active? I am not being totally bad, but feeling somewhat less inspired, how about you? I try to appear regularly in the chat room to share my experiences with others, which helps me stay on the right path, but sometimes, it is less easy than at other times on this journey. Do tell your tricks and inspiration.

Before and After - One Year Later

Wonderful! How about sharing some of your trips and tricks on Long Sleeves Chat Forum social group here on verticalsleevetalk.com? I started it up for my own edification, but I have to count on long term sleevers to help me out. Keep up the good work and Stay Strong and Be Well. Saltmistrose (Karen)
  21. Thanks so much for the kind wishes on my birthday! It was nice to be remembered by you on this special day. I have had a good birthday and look forward to the next year with great hopes and substantial anticipation! :-) Since WL surgery, I'm not getting older, I'm getting better!

  22. Having HUGE problems with my gmail account. It has been hacked! I changed my password, but when I got in all my mail is GONE from all my boxes and files. Contact only left. I am screwed big time.

  23. I am re-posting this off of another forum I read today. I think it is important to stay on track and motivated in this WL journey. This posting really helped me along. I hope it may help others too. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/79554-1-year-anniversary/page__hl__%2Byr%2C+%2Bpost

    1 year anniversary

Well my information is that wt. loss starts to slow down at 6 months. The "golden window" is about 18 months. I guess I have no excuse for not doing everything I can to get the most out of this next 12 months. I do know it will be hard, but I think I will foolish if I don't go all out for the next year. I too feel a little bit lazy with my diet and more importantly, my exercise routine. I am slowly but surely re-committing myself to the process. I don't know how to advise you, except that you can start over at any point along the way. Do your best with the time you have left and don't waste all your needed energy, beating yourself up, over things you have or have not done in the past. It probably won't hurt to touch base with your dietician and surgical team to get their take on all this. Be calm and carry on! I wish you the best and I know you can get back on track! Keep reaching out for support too. It is all too important a resource to not utilize in your journey. Karen Saltmistrose@gmail.com

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Hi November sleevers (especially the Maryland folks)! Well I am a little bit late but I had my surgery on November 29, 2012. I too am from Maryland originally. I moved to Waiheke Island (http://www.waiheke.co.nz) in New Zealand about 6 1/2 years ago. I have done very well since my surgery. I am down over 80 lbs. and have only about 20 lbs. to loose before I reach the 209 lb. mark that my surgeon has set out for me, by May 2014. I just had a follow-up with the surgeon here and I am due back for another follow-up in about 6months. I am planning to come back to the states at the end of June and possibly stay until the end of Oct. I have lots of things to attend to while back in the states. Great to hear how well everyone is doing! Karen
