  1. Had a long session with my dietician this morning and he says Optifast is the absolute best on the market for the balance of all the right ingredients.

I am now 4 weeks post op and it has gone so quickly. From today I can eat any normal good quality food I wish' date=' but have to significantly increase the frequency to 6 small meals a day just to get all of the nutrician. I am a bit daunted as to how I am going to get it all down, but still only talking about 1/2-1cup per meal.myweight has stabelized over past 2 weeks as I haven't been eating enough!!! Yes sounds strange doesn't it? Wish me luck as I am going to have to be organised. Dietician etimates I shoud lose about 3kgs per month which I would be happy with.

Sent from my iPad using VST[/quote']

Wow Kelli, 6 small meals a day. I can only do 3 and that includes my Optifast Breakfast. Then lunch like a sandwich thins with some avo, cottage cheese and tuna etc then Protein mainly for dinner. That's all I can do, maybe I could get a babybel cheese in as a snack or something but that's forcing myself as really not hungry.

I eat the same things breakfast and lunch for 6 days a week and Sunday I do totally different to not get bored. I usually have either sushi or a mini chicken pita from nandos. This is my only takeaway type food but my personal trainer said the mini pita is actually pretty good and not concerned with this.

    Hope Karaygh is well :)

  2. Gosh, this whole group on this thread just amaze me what beautiful people you all are. I'm so glad I found this site and have met such kind hearted souls and we get to experience this fantastic journey together.

Lila, you will look back in a year and this will just be a distant memory but your experience will be valuable to future Sleevers. I know it's tough now as you only want to go home and be with your family and start your new life but you will be back before you know it. So glad you are trying to remain positive throughout this.

Good luck Karaygh for tomorrow. Keep us updated as soon as you can. Love it with the prize home cleaning for the ex mil. What a laugh.

  3. I can totally understand why you would be very nervous about your op tomorrow especially after hearing about the very unfortunate complications with Lila. But honestly it is very rare and I agree with Cookeeez that the hundreds of successful ops needs to be your focus. I personally do not want to even think about weight gain as this to me is a whole lifestyle change and you may only gain weight back if you allow this. We have been given a great tool to change our life and i have heard from a few that are 4 yrs out that drop in to provide an update sometimes that they are still very happy and have maintained their weight. I don't know if there is many past 5 yrs or so but don't know how long they have been doing this procedure. I really don't think from my experience only that you can not get enough Vitamins in as personally I can get all food in, just very small amounts but definitely have no concerns of lack of vits & mins.

You have come this far and you have to remain positive and feel in your heart of hearts this will help your health for you and your family.

    Prayers are with you :)

  4. Oh Lila, I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. You really never hear about the complications and I'm so very sad it happened to you and at a time of being self pay. I am glad your feeling abit better and trying to remain positive, I think that is all you can do to get your health back for you and your family.

We have been worried about you and your experience has brought tears to my eyes.

My thoughts are with you Lila and best of luck tomorrow with the leak test

  5. No I never had any lollies but everyone is different. During my OF I had 2 shakes and 1 meal of chicken /fish and steam vegs every night but I did break it on a couple of occasions on first week :(

I was on fluids and purée food for first two weeks, then moved to soft foods for next 2 then week 4 I could eat anything. I can remember leading up to week 2 post op and couldn't wait to start on scrambled eggs and salmon which was so yummy especially after Soups, yoghurts for 2 weeks.

  6. It's funny that post op couldn't wait to end Optifast and now I actually enjoy it each morning. I tried a friends celebrity slim which I found so sweet and couldn't get through that as well.

Had a great lunch today which will get me through daily for the next week.

Helgas sandwich thins with avocado, cottage cheese, baby spinach, Tomato and cold fat free chicken meat. It was so delicious. Also saving heaps of money as used to buy coffee and lunch every day at work now probably do 1 babychino a week and don't need to buy lunches anymore so great to see a bit more money and can put towards some clothes that I am now in desperate need of as just too baggy.

Great idea about strapless bra as so difficult to shower and feel decent when you have a drip. I was so out of it after surgery and was so worried the next day to see the mess from not being able to change myself but that first shower was fantastic

I was also allowed ice chips and could drink fluids I think pretty much same night as op. I went into theatre at 2.30 and woke in recovery at 5.30, then straight back to my room

Hope you all had a great week.

  7. Hi ladies and gents' date=' seeking post sleevers to past on their wisdom and any advice!! So my surgery date is this coming Tuesday and I'm trying to get prepared as much as I can....so I have some questions if you could kindly give your opinions:-)

    Firstly,

*What essential personal items did u take or wish you had packed for hospital?

*My doctor says I will be in for 1 night- I was expecting longer? How many nights were you in for?

*Dr says its very important NOT to vomit after surgery, but some have posted they vomited within minutes of waking? Did you?

    *What antacids can/do you use?

*What Protein shakes do you use post op? I have read Optifast is no good post-op.

*I have read some have had a 'last meal' the night before surgery. (I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not) Did you have a last meal and what was it? I read one post had KFC!! O_o Lol.

*Anything essential you think a pre-op SHOULD know before going in?

Thanks guys!! You are all an amazing support system, I look forward to reading your replies! :-)[/quote']

This is my experience 7 weeks post op tomorrow

I didn't take anything different to a normal hospital stay. I took laptop and books but honestly didn't open them once as I was in for 2 nights but slept constantly as I was so tired after the anathestic. I also had my monthly visitor arrive the night before surgery which was horrendous to deal with at this time.

I did not vomit or have any nausea. Had little to no pain. Was given nexium tabs for acid but went off them 1 week after I got home. Had no gas pain so didn't require the meds I purchased before op.

I started back on Optifast at 4 weeks post op and have for Breakfast 6 days a week. Tried another brand Xantrac or something and couldn't get through it so such a waste of $ and went straight back into OF.

Did not have a last meal as too worried the food would be right there in my stomach and caught out by my surgeon...haha

I had my own private room where door was kept closed the entire time so I had no disturbance which was great.

The worst experience of my whole op was my leak test which I struggled with immensely and the thought still makes me feel ill. Not every surgeon does it though.

My Protein drinks post op were Mushasi P30 for a while which are nice but high in sugars. I no longer use Protein Drinks as I get enough Protein at this point.

So pretty much I have no regrets and love my sleeve. Down another 3kgs this week and just wish I did this earlier

Great to hear you are doing well Susie but am wondering how Lila is as haven't heard from her since op on monday

  8. Aussiegirl - you so deserve to be having a blast tripping around the USA, I envy you so much and you inspire me to what's ahead of us all in life and not held back by the dreaded weight.

I really think that will be on my bucket list to start some travels with the family. So excited and thankful that I made this decision to get the sleeve as can feel my life changing for the best each day :)

I never thought about the staples and honestly thought they must dissolve or something over time...dah !!

    Have a great day everyone.

  9. Hope it all went well Lila' date=' let us know. I had my 3rd different surgeon consult today at Oclinic in Sydney, seemed positive. Have to send off super stuff n wait..... When it's cleared should be done by Nov.[/quote']

That is great news!! I would have done the same instead of having to wait out the year for phi if you can access super as you still have to come up with the gap etc anyway and it allows you to start your journey a year earlier :)

Best of luck with it all Scotty

  10. Oh my gosh you should read the flaming going on in another thread right now because someone asked if they could have a beer... Sooooo funny!!!

I have seen some of the slanging in the other threads which I personally think is disgusting. It is supposed to be a support group:(. That is why I really only stay on the Aussie thread which is a fantastic support and valuable info :)

I personally would not drink beer and that is what I used to drink but the thought makes me feel ill but it is not for me to judge anyone what they wish to consume.

  11. Thanks Shell' date=' how did the soda go? I was a big vodka, lime and soda drinker before but wasn't sure how the soda would go?[/quote']

My personal trainer said for me to try the vodka and soda as not only low in calories but will also not dehydrate me. I probably won't have a drink now for another few months as I was only a social drinker only and can go without but least I know what to drink when I do. I had no problems with it, except very sore hand muscles the next day and couldn't work out why until I remembered sipping my drink over and hour and holding onto the glass !!
