  1. Nessa, that is FANTASTIC that you are nearing double digits, so awesome :)

You will have to upload some new pics of yourself.

I am 15kgs away from double digits and this will also feel the best as gosh been at least 20 yrs since I've been there:)

Aussiegirl - congrats on your awesome results at your 12 month anniversary - you and your family must be so proud of your achievements, and to reward yourself with a trip to the USA is to cool - so so happy for you !!

Loving hearing all your achievements guys, have a great day

    Shell xx

  2. Hi Bella, you will be fine and just stay positive. Like you have read here, many of us are so happy with the results and had had no complications, except for poor Lila - but that is with any op there are the risks.

My experience was no problems, pain, nausea so it was a very stress free procedure for me and have not had one bad day since, only wishing I had come across the sleeve earlier, not waited until being 39 years of age to have helped me change my life.

I know there has been a few through Dr Taylor as his name is very familiar.

Anyway, you'll be fine and you can rely on this great support system as we all have :)

Off to the beach now with the family and lunch down at the Coast somewhere.

  3. Hi guys, sorry just catching up on all the posts. One hell of a hectic week with new promotion and teenage son troubles. Haven't had time to do anything else and even had to remind myself to eat.

Went shopping with daughters today and first time in years where I wore a sleeveless top, always have worn a jacket over it as I always had to have sleeves, so that was a great feeling. Dragged my daughters into City Chic and they even remarked I don't need to shop there anymore, so sweet :). They said they won't be coming again cause all I do is want to look at clothes now, so funny as this is the last thing I ever would have done. Also went looking for push bikes for the family for our outings :). SO LOVE MY SLEEVE :)

Anyway, welcome to the newbies, great you have joined us on this thread, apologies for not saying hi earlier.

Kelli, hope you have a great night at the birthday. I'm sitting out the back with husband whilst he's cooking me my salmon for dinner. Had a few mouthfuls of a vodka cruiser tonight but way to strong for me, how's that - had to give my drinks to hubby as looks like the cruisers are no longer for me!!!

Well everyone, hope you have a great weekend

  4. Yes the gap for the reconstructive here is approx $10,000 plus $140p/f health fund premiums but I could get a 2 week holiday and change from the $10000 and it is very good work now by a reputable doctor. I have been looking at it for a while but still will look into consult here next year and check my options. All my surgeries over the years have been trouble free so this is something I will seriously consider to pick the boobs back up and lower body lift :)

Everyone says to me about scars would make them not do it but I look at it like this, I have a huge scar from my gall bladder surgery but seem this beautiful picture of a lady with scaring around her stomach with a beautiful fine tattoo with little flowers and little butterflies camouflaging the scarring and it looked beautiful. I think I will go for something like this also incorporating a samoan design for my samoan hubby into the tattoo as I do have terrible skin for scarring but I have seen some pics with excess skin and I personally don't want to be stuck with it and choose to remove it when it is safe to do so.

  5. Omg you guys had me laughing that's for sure!!

I had 60 to lose and have 35 to go so nearly half way there. I have upped my health insurance to cover reconstructive surgery but now after doing some research in the plastic surgery and success in Thailand may look there as an alternative, who knows!! But I do not want to have to cover myself up at the end of it with excess skin which I know will be on my stomach after 4 kids so will definitely do something about it.

I am on a multi Vitamin each day but should also look at something for hair and nails to help reduce the loss etc.

It is do great seeing all the new additions and being on this journey together. It is so great having everyone here for support.

Talk to you all soon :)

  6. Kayargh, I remember taking my steri strips off and one incision was very tender and I was scared to roll over in bed thinking it was going to pop open. I also remember how itchy my 5 little incisions got. How are you feeling anyway, hope you are getting better as each day passes. Time flies when life gets better, I just love my weekends now and funnily bugging my hubby to go and do something active as previously was always tired and didn't want to go out of the house.

  7. Hi Emma, wow 2 new Aussies in one night - great stuff :). Congrats on your op soon, wish you all the best and looking forward to being with you on your journey.

You are on a great thread here and you will find lots of useful information, but if there is anything you need to know and you can't find it in our previous discussions just ask and you will get lots of support. There is definitely a great bunch of people here and I would be lost without this site

  8. Hi Everybody!

I've been thinking hard about this.......maybe too hard my brain hurts!

I originally had an appointment with Dr. Craig Taylor at the OClinic North Sydney and booked myself in for the band on October 15th 2012 (not quite sure why' date=' I went in wanting the sleeve). After trawling the internet and forums about the band I completely flipped out and cancelled the surgery (I know Im a chicken)

I've been reading a little more about the sleeve and would much prefer it, but at the same time is scares the hell out of me! If I'm going to go ahead it won't be until April next year, not because of any waiting lists or lack of funds, but I just need to give myself time to come to terms with what I'm going to be doing and I don't have much option for leave at the moment.

I'd like to ask a couple of questions, I've read all the answers in other threads, but I NEED to ask these questions myself if that makes any sense? Here we go:

    1. Was the pain really bad, I mean moaning groaning on the verge of tears pain?

    2. Was there nausea, how long? (This scares me the most I HATE nausea!!!)

    3. How long till you were back at work? Do you really need only 2 weeks?

    4. Did you all have feeling of anxiety to the point you though about backing out?

    5. At what point do you start feeling normal again (food & Energy wise)

    6. Did anyone go to Dr. Craig Taylor?

I will thank everyone in advance and I will be planning to stick around until surgery if/when I decide to have it.

I'm so glad I have found some aussies!!!![/quote']

    Hi Mimz

I had no pain and nil nausea. I was in hospital in Brisbane for 2 days and once home didn't even need a panadol.

I could of gone back to work after 1 week but as I already had 2 weeks booked I just kept with the planned leave.

After 4 weeks I was eating pretty much normal food and my sleeve tolerates anything.

If you join us on the Attention - Australian Sleevers I'm sure you will find someone through Dr Taylor. That thread is predominately the one is Aussies connect by and they are a great bunch of people.

My only regret is I didn't get my sleeve earlier. I researched for a year and can honestly say it is the best decision I have ever done

  9. I eat about the same as you also. Breakfast 6 days is an Optifast, Sunday brekky is scrambled egg and mushrooms. lunch is like 1 crusket or sandwich thin with avo, cottage cheese, deli meat and dinner is always like a cup of Protein ir; fish, meat with a mouthful of vegs. This is all I can do with sometimes a babybel as a snack or a babychino as I can't do a bigger coffee yet.

For dinner in Saturday which is family takeaway night I had a mini classic pita (not meal) from nando's. My husband had one also ontop of his maccas meal and gulped it in one mouthful and can't believe that I am full from this and maybe a little too much..haha..

I had some pics taken this morning at 8 weeks post op and actually wearing a dress for first time in years. Can't remember last time I wore one so I have decided I will upload later the day of surgery to now as I am so not one for pics but time to step out of my comfort zone. I have found this the case with my work too, I was promoted to principal investigator at work for a six month period, starting today and was told by my boss they have seen a huge transformation in my confidence and belief in myself since op and time for me to again get out of my comfort zone.. Scary

  10. I have not had KFC which used to be my favourite and have also not had Maccas but once a week I have a mini chicken pita from Nandos for a cost of $4.50 and once weekly I also have one sushi. The pita from nandos is dinner tonight.

Honestly have no interest in KFC anymore thank god cause I loved it...

Went for a 1.5hr walk tonight, so love getting out of the house and going to go and bye a pushy to start bike riding and get back into my horse riding so can't wait..

You will overcome the thoughts of food when you can eat food again, the Fluid and purée stage was a little tough but manageable and all be over soon...
