    Getting A Little Discouraged :-(

I'm newly banded, but I would say lower to 1200 calories and increase your protein each day. Make sure your getting 60+mg of protein a day, also how is your water consumption? 8 glasses? That in addition to the measuring I hope that this could help.

    Can You Feel Your Port?

I'm 2 weeks out they showed me where mine was. I can feel mine if I want to, otherwise it's non-existant.

    Dying Of Thirst

I've dealt with thirst/dry mouth issue due to meds for quite some time. The surgery didn't make it worse biut it didn't make it better either. I just add crystal light/equivelant to my water and it helps satisfy the thirst and deals with the dry mouth.
  5. Your Dr.'s office should have the guidelines based on your insurance policy. Most require more than just 3 supervised visits/months. You can call your insurance to find out what is needed, but your Dr.'s office should have it taken care of.

    August Roll Call

had my 2 week post-op today I was nervous because I've only been able to get in avg 40gm of protein today. and avg 4-5 8 oz cups of water. My weight loss has only been about 10lbs. I was completely shocked. I was told they did not expect any weight loss the 1st 6 wks because its a time of healing Based on their scale it was 15lbs. My diet numbers were above average so I graduate to mushies. Oddly my doctor has a much more strict diet than I've read on here. I was only on clears for 1 day. Pureeds for 2 weeks: no veggies, no fruits, no grains. Mushies: add cooked veggies and cooked/diced fruit no grains except cream of wheat/rice x1 a week. No starchy veggies(potatos, peas, corn) 6 wks: can finally introduce all foods and get back to "normal" foods
  8. Your still in a Healing Stage hon. The first 6 weeks you should not focus on dropping but healing and adjusting. After 6 weeks you can start focusing on losing at least according to my doctor.
  9. each type of steri-strip is different. the type my Hospital used holds on for dear life They took mine off today day 15. I would say it depends on the status of your incision sites. If they look good then don't stress, if they are not healing contact your dr.'s office.

Why is it people on the outside only focus on how much you lose and not that the time right after surgery is for healing not loosing weight? Its like they expect the weight to just disappear. Yeah I would like that to, but thats not realistic. It tales time and life style change.

    Advice Needed

As good as the Bariatric Surgeons are you should always confirm their med orders etc. with your pcp. They know you better than anyone if you've been honest with them. This far out you should not have continious pain. I could understand a twinge here and there but thats it.

    Getting "regular" Again...

take the stool softeners and make sure you push your fluids. They are very important. I didn't like I should have and I did get constipated, its painful, don't strain, just follow your diet as your suppose too, it will take care of things.
  15. had a mild break through/wake-up call yesterday/today i was followingpost-op diet mostly as far as foods and portions but not getting my protein and liquids in today is a new day and I feel 10 times better I started with a 10 minute walk first thing this morning; I'm getting a slow start on my food intake but I'm eating very slowly then another min 5 min walk and continue. I'm still dealing with some pain, but not much I am only taking pain meds to sleep and not large amounts

    August Roll Call

I basically slept the first 2 days. I would fall asleep talking, the hunger will come trust me, drink your fluids they are way important I did not drink enough and it caused me severe constipation, if they did not give you some liquid Colace see if you can get some but still push your fluids.

In Need Of A Buddy, No Support At Home

we are all here for you hon, my close family doesn't struggle with weight but family I'm not close with does. People that have never truly struggled don't understand. they say they struggle but 5 -10 lbs. off/on within ideal weight is not struggling. this whole community is here to help you; but I will tell you you need someone to help you physically, you will be sore for a least the day of surgery, probably at least a week. So you need someone onboard. whether its your mom, bf, or your close girl friend.
  19. went on a long walk last night it was slow being a stroke survivor slows a lot of things down unfortunately I over did it I'm very sore today

    August Roll Call

I've found that gentle massage of my lower belly(below belly button) generally helped just some gentle pressure back and forth in addition to walking. Oddly most came up, but expelling the gas was the goal no matter the direction.
  21. BONUS!!! I can bend over today.

  23. after being home for a day i realize I was not active enough the 1st week. I'm more active on my own which I was worried about my first day home I'm more sore my massage therapist/trainer thinks its because of the band being placed higher. Either way I have to get out and move more I was doing mini walks each day but my house it setup a lot different than my moms got 2 Dr. appt today so hopefully things will loosen up a little today.
