Shouldn't make a difference.....if PS is going to be covered by insurance it is for medical necessity....period. If it is medically necessary, it IS medically necessary.
Medically necessary = rashes for excessive abdominal skin; neck, back, shoulder pain and/or rashes for breast reduction/lift. Make sure you have any of these symptoms documented, even by current insurance and get those records. See your primary doc for any aches & pains caused by your breasts & have them documented as causing continuing problems. See your primary doc for ANY skin rashes caused by excessive skin, even if it can be treated with over-the-counter products. This will make it MUCH easier. Also, make sure you get any medical records showing your weight loss. If you have all these records in your possession, it won't be a hassle when requested to prove medical necessity.
    Good luck!!!

Dee has a point. So many of us try to drive down those calories per day to the point our bodies slow down our metabolism. It's called starvation mode. It may be OK for a few days but I wouldn't recommend it for more than a week. I've found that running my caloric intake up to 1600 calories a day over a weekend has had some benefits to losing weight and breaking up a plateau.
There are some bandsters who do make this their routine and have found success with 600 calories per day. But, it's no way to live imo. Eating healthy foods can fill you up and satisfy you.

I too am currently stalled. I've been the same weight for about 8 weeks now. I will admit that I have neglected going to the gym....but today I head back to get back to basics. I have an appointment for a small fill on Jan 30th so hopefully that will help too.
BTW, I just celebrated by 6 month bandaversary Dec 19th...so, I'm at the same place as most of you.
    We can do this!

Good Morning and a Good New Year to ALL!

I was on a few other sites this morning, and all I can say is I am SO GLAD that I no longer have to make myself promises or resolutions concerning dieting and loosing weight...EVER AGAIN!
Seems that is all I read about...people making "Empty" resolutions, which I have done many times and failed at every one....

I will head to the gym when they open today, and like every New Year, the place will be packed with new people vowing to loose weight with new gym memberships....
I know firsthand the staff there have an inside joke about these people....how long will they last?? I also know they will push hard "Private One on One Training" to make their $$ while the going is good.....

Today, as was the last few days, the TV commercials will be all about this and that weight loss scheme.....summer is 6 months away...sign up today!!

The morning news on TV has already run segments about "Cooking" and "Exercising"

I cannot express enough how happy I am to have been set free from all that culture!
I have a NEW LIFESTYLE.....I can think about other things rather than my weight and immediate health issues......words cannot describe what true freedom and release feels like!

WOW...you certainly have a story to share...and I must say that I also felt that your approach to life with your band was not one that I agree with. And from what I have learned through life with my band and from my surgeon you have taken some fairly serious risks to your health and well being.
    I disagree with your opinion:
Crazy people like me will have it tightened to the point of being on a perpetual liquid/mush diet until goal, and then a setting that permits you to maintain thereafter. The difference between these types of peole is those who are motivation to win vs those who are not yet wiling to give up food as a crutch. I have been both of these people...and I have opted to win.
This is not a game...this is life. And we choose to have a certain level of quality of life. I believe that the motivation for success comes from within...and the successful individuals are self determined and want to be successful. I am one of those who are motivated for success, but choose not to place my health and well being at risk in the process of loosing weight and having a better quality of life. There are many others who are of the same mindset: I've followed my surgeon's instructions and still had some medical complications. I don't even want to consider what would have happened if I had chosen to become my own physician...
I also strongly believe that we need to refrain from giving medical advice to others...unless you have the proper credentials to give such advice. Your post was in that gray area...I believe it is imperative to advise others to consult with their medical team for guidance and not tell others what they should do if they want to be a "winner". This must be gender specific, as I believe that life with a band is a journey towards health, not a race divided by the winners and losers.
Best wishes to you for your continued success...

lapbandkeira got a reaction from CHEZNOEL in what is the best advice to loosing weight fast after surgery or what diet helped u loose weight quick im talking about 1 years worth?
I'm a Protein girl. I eat carbs just enough to not pull my hair out (that falls out on its own anyway) and if you stick to 3 meals a day you should shed weight fast enough.. I get crap for loosing too much too fast but it works for me. I learned a 10 to one plan that always keeps me at about 1000 calories and 100 grams of protein.

I wouldn't be surprised if one day, someone joins this forum and says "my doctor told me in order for the band to work, I would have to do hand stand push ups 3x a week, alternating from left hand to right hand 30 times, while polishing my toe nails with my teeth. and I can't eat green Beans...does your doctor make you do this? "
I wish these doctors would just all attend a seminar and get on the same page.
