If you are talking about the Nature Valley Thins, they are very tasty. You need to visit their site to check nutritional value as there are three different thins available. http://www.naturevalley.com/snack-bars

51 And Conflicted Between The Band And The Sleeve- Your Thoughts Wanted!
isajck replied to buplee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My doc dislikes the band as well. I'd imagine more surgeons will go the route of phasing them out eventually. I never considered the band after watching a family member and her complications with one. Just not worth the headache. -
Same here. Blender bottles are the best due to the wire ball which acts as a wisk. You can find them at WalMart and Sams, depending on where you are some large grocery stores carry as well.

I take about 45 minutes to eat and it can go to an hour depending on the meal. I get really full after 4 or 5 bites and was totally stopping my meals at this point. After being told by my doctor and bariatric coordinator that my caloric intake was too low, I now eat those first filling bites then wait for some time and eat more. It has helped get more food in which has made me feel better overall. My calories are still low but there has been an increase.

Did Anyone Not Do A Leak Test?
isajck replied to smb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon performs one while in the OR after completing procedure. -
Just some advice, try creating only one thread to ask questions. Good advice could get lost with three separate threads all for the same issue.

4 Days Post Op, Haven't Had A Bowel Movement?!?
isajck replied to salpal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is nothing abnormal about this at 4 days post op. I would be surprised it you did not go a full week or better. As i keep saying: less in, less out. -
I was allowed treadmill or recumbent bike use at 3 weeks. At six weeks I was given a full release by my doctor.

Help! Complications Could Cause Me To Have Bypass!
isajck replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not a doctor but going straight to a bypass, sounds as if your surgeon is jumping the gun a bit. What happened to trying a dilation? Read what lollyfidy1965 said about her sleeve and the response from her doctor. Think I would fight a bit more before agreeing to a full bypass at this point. -
Having Trouble Getting In Your Fluids? This Helped Me...
isajck replied to Sassafras's topic in Food and Nutrition
This is a very good idea. I am almost 8 weeks out and still struggling to get in all of my fluids, with a few tweaks, this schedule should do it. Thanks! -
You need to contact the doctor or NUT and inquire about the caloric intake. I cannot imagine an extensive exercise program on 600 calories a day.

Smoking After Surgery
isajck replied to angelofmercy36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those low prices are def because you are in KY. I worked in Louisville for 9 months several years ago and smoked more than ever due to the cheap prices. LOL. When it was time to return home, purchased several cartons to bring back because I knew those prices would never be seen again! -
What Do I Need To Bring With Me?
isajck replied to VSGJean's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Here is a list that eggface made, maybe a bit dated but still good info: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/06/sotb-surgery-list.html -
I am so sorry to hear this and hope the doctors are able to find a solution to the leak issue soon.

I had sweet tea during the first week due to my struggles with other beverages. By week two I could not stand the taste of it, things changed just that quickly for me. If you are truly struggling, I say do whatever is necessary to stay hydrated. You can always get back on track when things become easier for you.

Failed Over Night Pulse Ox
isajck replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sure there are rental options but most insurance coverages will purchase them outright. -
Not exactly but I've been without any Vitamin supplements for over six weeks. It will probably take at least a week or two to get back on track. I am not dead tired so that is something positive.

Great that someone else has heard of it! I tried my first dose this past Friday. So far, so good.

Confused And Questioning.
isajck replied to Imjustmee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The feelings of being overwhelmed, all of your feelings really, are normal. You are not alone, keep visiting the forum and search the archives. It will help keep you sane during these trying times. I was not able to tolerate Protein drinks just after surgery and for the most part still cannot six weeks out. Right now concentrate on liquids, hydration is very important. Just take it easy and keep sipping! -
Used the weight from when this whole shebang started, first consult with surgeon.

Worried About Chewable Vitamins
isajck replied to ashley624's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The best advice I can give you is not to stock up on anything just prior to surgery. I did this with celebrate chewable Vitamins and ended up wasting almost $75. Prior to surgery they were tasty but after...the most horrible thing ever. I am still struggling to find a Vitamin for use now. It is getting serious as I've not used any since just prior to surgery.
