  1. For me it wasn't much of the numbers on the scale. It was the diabetes that was out of control and the meds. were making me very, very sick. Hoping to reverse the diabetes and losing the weight is going to be a big,big bonus.

    Sleep Apnea...question

Thank you all so much for your support. It really gives me hope. The thing that makes me want to give up it that since I've been using the machine I feel worse than ever. I never woke up tired or felt sleepy during the day. Today was horrible I was in a b*tchy mood, snapping at everyone and felt so tired, bags under my eyes. It's really all the symptoms that I was suppose to have prior to using the machine. <<<Sigh>>> ... should I tough it until Thursday when I go order my machine, or just stop using it, or email my dr. on Monday???

    Sleep Apnea...question

Okay after 3 days of using the CPAP machine I can officially tell you I HATE, I DETEST using it. I wake up feeling so tired and irritable with a headache. Where as before using this darn thing I wasn't feeling any of this. I don't know what to do honestly. If I don't use it I will not be able to have the surgery but I hate feeling this way..what to do, what to do?

Hi...starting The Vsg Process With Kaiser

Hi I guess all Kaisers are all different. I started out at the beginning of the year. I was referred because I have all the comorbitites in the book. I don't qualify by weight by due to the fact that I have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and recently diagnosed with sleep apnea I was approved. When I went to the orientation and thought the surgery was not for me. I did see a dietitian for 3 months did very well but I am still diabetic. So I decided to have the surgery and emailed my dr. and she immediately referred me to the classes and I am in the final process now. I see the surgeon on the 17th. of August to get my surgery date. I am going to the S.S.F Kaiser. I hope all woks for you.

    1000 Calorie Diet... Help!

Hi it's me again with another question. I am type 2 diet controlled diabetic. I am in the process of having the procedure done. I have done all the testing and I see the surgeon again on the 17th of August. I had been following the pre-op diet of 1200 calories a day without any problems and eating about 850-1100 calories a day and exercising one hour 5 to 6 days a week. I had been losing weight. So I saw the surgeon on the 16th of July and he wants me to replace a meal with a Protein shake and stick to a 1000 calories a day. Now the protein shake is 300 cal. so that leaves me with 700 cal for the other two meals. But for some reason when I drink the shake in the morning I get super hungry all day long. So then I switched it up and having it for lunch.... the problem is that my blood sugar drops to the 80's- 90's which makes me feel very shaky and lightheaded giving me a headache and I can't concentrate. I am fine when it's in the 100-110. I feel that if I had 3 meals instead of the shake I would continue doing good. I don't want to go against Dr.'s orders but I hate feeling this way. I honestly don't know what to do. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    1000 Calorie Diet... Help!

Hi I am drinking the premixed EAS 45gr. Protein. I drink 74 oz of Water daily. I take multi-vita and 4000 units of vit.D as per dr. It's weird but any time my bs gets below 100 I feel shaky and lightheaded. The dietitian had stated that it was because I wasn't eating enough food. Thanks for your help. I probably will email the dr.
  9. That's exactly how I feel when my bs drops. Good luck and hope they find out what is causing all of your symptoms.

    Sleep Apnea...question

Last night was the first night I used it. The NP recommend I try the nose (darn it I forgot what it was) with the nose pillows. He said that, that is what he uses and he loves it. Much more comfortable too. I don't know. All I know is I HAVE to use it if I want to have the surgery. I don't have any symptoms but maybe I've just learned to cope with them and don't realize it yet. Maybe a couple of days after I use the machine I will see an improvement. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

    Sleep Apnea...question

It's good to know there is hope for us who don't want to use it forever. I am sure the quality of sleep is was better with it than without it. I have a mild case of OSA 9.3 and the dr. just told me that if I use it for at least a month I will be able to set up my surgery. I am hoping I am able to do it. He also said that since I was able to sleep with it for the entire month chances are I will be successful at it. Wish me luck. I sure do need it. It wasn't easy.

    Sleep Apnea...question

I think anything over a 5 is considered comorbidity because that's when they give you a CPAP machine to use. I have 9.3 and I have to use the machine. I just spoke to the dr. and he said he can almost assure that once I have the sleeve done and lose weight it will go back to normal...I hope so.

    Sleep Apnea...question

No the machine I have is a borrowed one from Kaiser. We get to test it out for a week, go back and purchase ours. I did start off with a level 4 and in the middle of the night I noticed it was a 9.5. Don't know what that means but I will have to ask the Dr. Thanks for the encouraging comments.

A1C Level To High For Surgery

Yes you have time to lower it. Follow the meal plan. If you are able to do exercise do at least 30. min. I am , well was not one to go to the gym I was so intimidated of everyone judging me. When I had trouble with the medication I thought to myself...The heck with anyone judging me. I will do it for me. I really in the bottom of my heart think that helped a lot. I started with going 1 hour 5 to 6 times a week. I would do the elliptical at my own pace. If you can't find time for the gym maybe just walk around the block.

    Sleep Apnea...question

Hello!! Well I used the CPAP machine last night and it was HORRIBLE. I feel way more exhausted and a light headache. At first when the first gush of air started flowing in I thought I was going to die. I had to have about 3 tries before I could even relax. The hoses and that little noise of air flowing are just very annoying. I kept waking up every so often. Maybe that's why I am tired. Oh and to top it off I wake up and notice my face is swollen. Ugh! However I did leave it on all night. I wanted to take it off so bad but just remember I need the surgery even more. I do have a phone appointment with the nurse practitioner, should I mention any of this, or will I seem like a whiney little ..bleep?
