Hey Ladies... A Few Personal Questions

You know it's funny because who I thought was my best friend for the past 20 + years and who has recently had WLS surgery and lost 120 lbs. in 7 months. Was telling me pretty much the same thing your friend told you. She said that I was crazy for even thinking of having the surgery. That is was the hardest thing she has ever done. But she would do it all over again. Hello?!!! Why the heck would she contradict herself? I don't know what her problem is. She has more weight to lose than I do. I have about 60 lbs. to lose but like I told her I'm doing it in hopes to put my diabetes in remission. She doesn't know what living with diabetes is. She also told my husband that I was crazy that if she lost the 120 lbs. in 7 months where was I going to lose all that weight from. She just doesn't get it. I have made my mind up and I don't talk to her about my surgery or my appointments or anything about my health anymore. Sometime you have make decisions in your life, don't let her discourage you. You are young and have a full life ahead of you. You can always do something about the loose skin and the boobs. You will be at your goal weight, feeling healthy and better than ever after your surgery. Good luck to you.

    Do You Ever Wake Up......

Do you ever wake up second guessing your self? For the past couple of days I have been contemplating not having the surgery thinking I can do this by myself. In reality I know I can't. But I think to myself that since I don't have much weight to lose I don't need the surgery. Then I know that losing the 50+ lbs. will help me control my comorbitities. I've been driving myself crazy with this. I almost think that's why the dr.'s give so much time in between appointments so we can think things over. Have you been thru this? Maybe I'm just scared of the after math. Maybe if there are any complications I don't know.
  5. Wooooo hoooooo!!!!! This is it!!! Time for your new life. Congrats!!!

    Do You Ever Wake Up......

I thought I had this under control and knew exactly what I wanted. I went to all my testing and phych. evaluation all went well then I had my sleep apnea results come back stating I have mild 9.3 sleep apena. Using that machine has been a hassle, making me tired and with headaches. That is when I would wake up thinking if I really wanted to do this also just trying to talk myself out of it because I think of the "what if's". Then I have been reading everyone's replies and just assures me that this is a normal feeling. I do want to share that I did go back to the sleep clinic and they changed my mask as well as told me it tacked it down letting them know I was successful. Now I have to wait 10 days to get it and then after that I see the surgeon on the 17th. and I hope that once I have the surgery and lose weight I can get off the machine. Even the sleep dr. said it looked very promising. Thanks for your support.

    Have I Been Forgotten?

I didn't see an appointment with the surgeon. I don't know if every office is the same but I know when I was scheduled for my phyc evaluation, nut and the other appointments they also set up the one with the surgeon. If I was you I would've called 2 days ago. You don't know if your dr. is going to require you to do more testing and take even longer to get your surgery date. IMO.

What vitamins and how much of them are you taking after post op. I am just wondering what the monthly cost of these would be. Thanks.

Need Motivation To Start Working Out

Sometimes the hardest thing is to take or re-take that first step. Now that you have started back up I am sure you will continue doing it. I love this site too. Good luck.

    Post Op Vitamins

I was actually scared that it would be way more vitamins than this. As of now I am only taking 1 multi vit. and 4000 units of vitamin D. I was low on vitamin D... should I be taking more? I haven't had my surgery yet. It probably won't be until mid sept. or Oct.

    Do You Ever Wake Up......

I get so happy when I hear great stories on why people decide to go thru surgery. I am glad you gave yourself that opportunity to live a healthy life and be there for your family. That is one if not the most important reason I want to do it. From what I've read it's pretty normal to second guess our life changing decision. I know in my heart that this is the only thing that will help me with all of my comorbitity diseases. I thank you for your support.

    Do You Ever Wake Up......

I think one of my biggest fear is that what if after the surgery I have complications like leaks, or I just don't know what. But reading everyones responses has really helped me. I know there are risks with surgery but at this point I think it's more of a risk not to have the surgery. Thanks.

Thank you. You know that is why I really won't give up on having the surgery. I am diabetic and the medications for it make me very sick. I too have hbp. How long ago was your surgery? Thanks for your support.

    Do You Ever Wake Up......

Thank you. I think I'm just having a hard time dealing with the CPAP machine and feel that if I fail at it I won't have the surgery. I don't know. Deep down I want the surgery, I NEED the surgery to control my diabetes. THanks again.
