  1. Had surgery on 7/19 my starting weight was 242 I'm done to 225 nd my octor says its not enought. I'm so heartbroken I wanted o tll him if I taught I could have lost more I wouldn't have had surgery. I actually taught 17 pounds was good' date=' what o I know :_ ([/quote']

17 lb in a month is good! On average u will lose 1-2 lb a week after being banded. Slow and steady is the way to go. Don't b discouraged by his statement. It was unprofessional at the very least.

  2. Does anyone know what would be considered a comorbidity for Tricare other than the ones listed on their site? I saw the surgeon today & he doesn't think insurance will cover me. He said that my high cholesterol won't count due to me not being prescribed meds for it! He also said no to my PCOS as well!

Anyone info would be greatly appreciated' date=' Thanks![/quote']

Comorbidities that most insurance accepts are cardiac issues, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, pre diabetes, bmi of over 40. Severe arthritis, spinal issues. All have to be documented by a physician. Having said that, Tri Care is a horse of a different color. You should talk to them. Have your surgeon send in diagnosis evaluation and see what happens. All hey can sa is no. Most surgeons will work out a payment plan with you if insurance doesn't cover. Also, check to see which drs r in networ. That is huge to them. I hope u get approved!

  3. Hi everyone' date=' I'm due to be banded Aug. 29th and have been excited (and a little nervous) about it. This past weekend my brother in law told me that his sister almost died from the band. She lost about 100 pounds and gained it all back then she exercised like crazy and lost it again. The band slipped after she lost it the second time and her stomach rotted. She only has 5% of it left!! Has anyone ever heard of this? It made me very nervous!! Thanks.[/quote']

I agree with Maddysgram. There is always someone willing to tell you a horror story. B a smart consumer do research find out what's best for you. And then follow the rules. All of them no matter how silly it may seem. Best wishs to you. The band is Wonderful tool! Use it wisely and you will hve great long lasting results!

  4. Yesterday it was in high 80's and now today it's dropped down to the high 60's. I was actually cold so I went into my closet to pull out my once favorite black cardigan.

The cardigan I wore the day I had surgery and I haven't worn in many months.

Holy cow' date=' I couldn't believe how huge it was on me! I mean, I guess I should've known because I've dropped 5-6 sizes since then, but putting that sweater on was a "wow" moment. It really put into perspective how far I've come. Especially considering the day of surgery, I couldn't button it because it was too tight across the tummy if I did.

So, I thought I'd share the difference. Here is me in the now massive sweater :)

    Good Job!!!

  5. I'm also having a hitial hernia repaired as well. So ready for it to be done already aug 16th can come sooner!

I had a hiatal hernia repair with the lap band and even though I had belly pain and shoulder pain from the surgical gas I knew moving around is what makes u feel better. So I walked, VERY SLOWLY at first then increased the amount of time and the gas pain and pressure really did ease. Good luck I hope u feel better!

  6. I have always been hungrier the week before and the week of my period. That being said' date=' I thought the band would help with this, especially as I've read that a lot of people feel that their bands getter tighter during this time. Does anyone else still feel like they could eat a cow? This is very concerning for me....

Hormones glorious hormones. This is one of those, everyone is different, issues. However, I also have increased appetite with my period. Only for a couple of days so I don't have to struggle that long. But I find increased Water and walking helps me stay out of the kitchen and gets me through the munchie madness.

  7. I've lost 87 pounds and while the size of my bra circumferance has gone down the cup size remains the same. I think its a bummer. I really wanted smaller breasts to reduce back neck shoulder pain. But I may need a surgical reduction.

  8. Josie! Thank you so much for your frank discussion and photos!

I have curently lost 85 lb and am at the 60% weightloss goal. I have known for a long time I would need to have my "wings" clipped but was afraid of the cost! I think now I can use this remaining weight loss time to save for the brachioplasty!
