    So Random

If you are able to eat in the morning special K has some breakfast sandwiches are are tasty. Also, Special K has high protein cereal (I love it). I also, like a whole grain waffle toasted with a smear of peanut butter and a half of a banana. Apples and PB are good for snack and breakfast.
  2. It's not about feeling full, it about feeling satisfied.

  3. I would check with the doc. I call my doc anytime or email with questions. I do not want to harm George (my band). A good friend of mine has had a band for 5 years. She ended up having to have a second surgery to fix her band because she stayed to tight for to long and ended up slipping it. They tried pulling Fluid, but that didn't work. Now she is having problem reaching restriction again. Not to scare, but it's never a band thing to seek a professionals advice. My personal non pro feeling is as long as you are not pb'ing and getting stuck a lot you should be ok. But the pressure in your chest should be discussed with the doc.
  4. Loving the spring weather- got a nice 2 mile walk in last night with my pups then slept great!!

    Will this help me?

Will it help you - help, yes, but it won't do it for you. You must still put forth an effort to eat less and eat better. I found it was easier to adjust due to starting to adjust months in advance. What, where, and how I eat have all changed.
  6. I have hit several of these. My weight has only budged 3 lbs in the last 3 months. However, my doc says this is totally normal. To just make sure I am following the plan he set out for me and my body will catch up with what is going on. Our bodies have gotten so use to being heavy and us taking in a lot of food, after we loose weight it takes a while for it to catch up and understand what is happening is good and it doesn't need to hold on to every fat cell for dear life. Keep doing what you are doing. I keep getting told it will be better!

    WLS NITTY GRITTY

There were time on my vacation this week when I wanted a temporary separation from my band . That sucker tightened down and one day only liquid would go through. Now it has loosened back up. Everyday with the lapband is an adventure.

    CUPCAKES and FRAPPES!!!!!

Good for you!! Start making healthy tasty stuff for your drivers. You will help your health and theirs. That is what I do at family pot lucks now. Also, drip hints of what you like now they will get it in time. My staff use to bring me M&M's all the time, now I get fruit or black coffee. When some ask why I changed- I said new taste or I'm getting older gotta watch things better. Great job- keep up the good work.

    doctors note

My boss is very discrete, so it wasn't a big deal. He believes that an employees business is theirs, so he kept it private. However, I had to fill out paper work with his secretary and she had a big mouth and if anyone ask she told them what I did. I was ticked at first, but now I am like whatever. It's no biggie. I would be more worried if I was failing at this, but I'm not so I am happy to tell others about it. Especially, I like to talk to others that this surgery could help.

    The Band Vs. Vacation

I just returned for a wonderful week of warmth and sunshine in Orlando, Florida. This was my first vacation and first time flying since being banded. I talked to my doc before hand about this and she advised to not get a fill and eat and enjoy food, but with in reason. Last Saturday we had to be at the airport at 3:30, so we got lunch at the airport- first stuck episode. So embarrassing having to run to the public restroom with my hand over my mouth. We got to Florida and I just drank some Vitamin Water Zero (no calorie). First thing the next morning I figured I would go for yogurt for breakfast since I had gotten stuck so bad. Well, I just stuck on the yogurt. Again, Vitamin Water Zero. Later in the day I was dying for something, so I got some Froyo 120 calorie with protein added. That perked me up. That night after having walked over 22500 steps I really wanted food!! At a nice restaurant I order some grilled fish and that went well- I thought I finally was good. The week went on and I didn't get through one day without getting stuck at least once. I never knew what would do it. Yesterday before flying home I wasn't able to eat anything at all. I sucked on ice most of the day and drank a slim fast when I got home. Today, I have been able to eat cereal, but that is all. My weight this morning was up by 4 lbs since last Saturday. I am however on my period and since I have eaten out for a week I am sure sodium levels are up. I am not freaking out about the weight being up, just bother by not being able to eat anything. So I have learned lapband and vacation isn't the best mix, but I will make the best of it, because I don't plan on giving up either.
  11. 1- FOLLOW the DOC's Rules!!!!!!! (he isn't blowing hot air when he tells you these things) 2- This won't be easy, but it will be worth it. 3- Find a protein shake you like, but don't burn yourself out on once kind. 4- Find different flavors to things you like (jello, pudding, crystal light- I am a HUGE fan of Crystal Light Peach Mango Green Tea and Zero Vitamin Water) 5- Keep busy 6- DRINK 7- Hungry put something in you - the more you allow the hunger to set in the harder it is to control. So set a timer and drink, eat a jello, a popcicle, something a few hours to prevent a deep hunger from taking over. 8- Have a buddy you can call and vent to when things get rough. My hubs was mine, I know he thought I was turning demonic at times. 9- Take it one step at a time- BREATH!!

    Size 8 Here I Am!

AMAZING job!!! Indulge in this accomplishment and happiness!! I raise my class of zero calorie Vitamin Water to you!!
  13. I was told I could have 3 meals a day with 2 small snacks. When I am at peak restriction I don't want the snacks. My doc told me that I just needed to make sure I was getting around 1500 calories a day (that total is for me since my fitbit averages my daily burn at 2200) no matter if it were in 3 meals or 5. I don't increase calories with junk I increase them with protein and fiber. For instance a fav snack of mine when I am hungry is apples and peanut butter (both the doc and NUT agree this is a great snack) Best thing to do is talk to the Doc and NUT they can give you great advice. You are really early on, so your body isn't totally adapted to the band. Good luck on your journey

    Alcohol and lap band

I had a mixed frozen pinacolava on my vacation last week. I drank one in the afternoon with no food- felt a little heady, but not to bad. Then after dinner my hubs and I walked around the resort for about 30 min and then went and got another drink- I only drank half and it killed my stomach. My belly hurt for a good hour.

    Sauna

I would check with the doc. It would depend on the intensity of the class. Some are pretty intense and would be rough- I was told to be careful for 6 weeks, and NO ab exercise for at least 6 weeks. As for the sauna- as you get fills you may find this a challenge. I find that saunas and hot tub time tends to make me tighten up and I have difficulty eating afterward; but maybe I am an odd duck.
  16. Loving the warming weather in NC, took the pups out for a nice long walk along the river.

    The Band Vs. Vacation

Yes, Dylan Disney was great, SeaWorld was AWESOME!! We walked ALOT, but it was good. Today I went for a nice long walk because my body was craving the movement, I was itchy to walk- how odd It was my first time there, the hubs went when he was a kid. I didn't always eat the right stuff, but at times I was just looking for something I could get down. However, I did not over indulge in at anything. I did have two alcoholic drinks (pinacolave), but that was it. I have tried to drink a lot today to flush my system and I haven't been able to eat much. I went to one restaurant and the waiter said what I order would be fine it I wasn't to hungry when it came I promptly told him he lied. The hubs and I ended up sharing it. I guess he thought since I am still chunky I could eat a lot.

    The Band Vs. Vacation

Thanks Missy - nice to know I'm not alone. The vacation was awesome, we are already wanting to go back again. But next time I think I will be better prepared and take some shakes with me.
  19. Band is tight as a tick after vacation and have my cycle - sucks!

    Seafood and the band?

I just chew really really well. I do well with most except clam strips, which I use to love. Mostly, I do fish. Some people just have problems with certain things. Now that I am just in a fine tuning of my band scrambled egg almost impossible to eat.
  21. @ Disney - walked over 22000 steps today (no that is not a typo) All I can say is please pass the muscle relaxer.

  22. Yes, I would do it again in a heart beat. I am getting healthier all the time. While it isn't the easiest thing I've ever done, it has been worth it. Plus, to me, I like knowing that if something would happen this surgery is reversible. Everyone is different this type of WLS isn't for everyone, but it was for me.

What Does "Morbid Obesity" Really Mean?

This is exactly why I had surgery when I did. At 30 at sitting terribly close to 250 I knew if I didn't make a change, if I didn't do something I would end up dying young for heart disease or diabetes. While I enjoy looking better, it is a relief to see my healthy improving and that is enough to make this a life long journey rather than a temporary change.
  24. 190 this morning!!! YEAH finally losing a little again.

  25. Prepping to fly off to Florida for a week!!! YEAH- can't wait for the warmer weather.
