Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
Me too. Protein shakes! Preop diet has been difficult this weekend. We are taking the kids to Pumpkin Patch today = kettle corn, hot apple cider, apple cider donuts. It will be difficult but I will get through it. Day 12... The broth, veggies and hard boiled egg have save me. Thank goodness my Nut allowed that. But for last two days I will do diet just as I did the 1st 7 days.

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
Funny you got a summons, so did my husband & I for a guy who stole prescription drugs out of our house. I'm far enough out from surgery it won't be a problem. I don't think you are going to feel like going to court. Call the court house & ask them what they need to not have to appear. Probably something from your Doctor. I still had some gas pains at 5 days, not terrible just uncomfortable, same with gas. Now I'm going through constipation issues, a little tired but feeling pretty good & I'm 9 days out. Each day gets better! Your going to do great!! I'm planning on contacting Ron's wife sometime today, since this is the first day I have really felt like doing much. I will let you know what I hear! I know I thought it was so weird that it is happening so close to my date. I am gonna email my surgeon on Monday. Glad you are feeling better!

Did you all use the spray for dry mouth? Do you think I will be up to going to court 5 days post op?

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
I am confused on why you are saying wow. No one has been rude or said anything that should be taken with offense. There is also a sleeve forum for those looking for other support from sleevers. I keep trying to get this thread -Preop Gastric Bypass forum back on track. If you read on Forum Rules #11 hijacking is referenced. This thread has been nothing but support.

I agree I am not on Facebook! I love our October group and it seems to get derailed by FB group posts. I am all about support and groups but I agree with Edie. Hijacking this thread is not the way to do it. Create a thread and I am sure you will find many participants that are interested in joining your group.

Congratulations! You can learn a lot on here. Take the good information and leave behind the rest. Be sure to follow your surgical teams advice. You will find on here that all our programs are so different. Keep us posted. You will find this is a very supportive group.

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
So glad to hear that!!! It is interesting I am suppose to start vitamins when I get home. Every program is so different. So I got a summons to appear in court on the 26th and my surgery is the 21st. I am wondering if I am gonna feel up to it. We got called to testify against this guy that broke in the house next to ours.... I am like what! I did not think the bank would file charges but obviously they did. I will ask my surgeon on my surgery date what he thinks, but I am a bit concerned. How did you all feel 5 days post op? I am also having a hernia repair. I really hope Ron is okay! Did anyone reach out to his wife since her last post?

My preop diet experience/lessons learned
I have been on my preop diet for 9 days. My doctor uses Bariatric Advantage (BA). I have to drink 3 shakes and eat 2 BA bars. I can have 1 banana and 3 servings of sugar free Popsicles and 3 sugar free Jello. I can also have no sugar beverages. I drink tons of Water. My pluses: 1)I know longer need/want coffee. I now drink decaf hot tea and unsweetened ice tea along with water with lemon. I am not craving bread, Cookies, donuts or cake. I loved my lightly sweetened ice tea prior to this process. 2) I survived two social functions that included pizza, burgers, hot dogs, BBQ, dips, chips, ice cream cake and cheese cake. 3) I am 7lbs down. Minuses: 1) I have only gotten 3 shakes a day down only twice 2) I do not like, repeat do not like BA. I chose Banana, chocolate, and Orange Cream. The only one I can tolerate without gagging is Chocolate. The bars are okay. 3) I chose to eat a piece of low fat mozzarella cheese stick. I confessed to my Nutritionist. 4) I am terribly constipated. What I have learned in nine days: I feel so much better (besides constipation). I have more energy. I am living, surviving. My body is getting what I need. food is such a social part of my life, but I can survive the party without eating. I do not like eating or drinking artificial sweeteners. Plain water with Lemon will do just fine. I AM ADDICTED TO CHEESE! By being honest with my Nutritionist today I felt in control. She told me I could have broth with no starchy vegetables or a hard boiled egg. I honestly felt like I won top prize. I am all set to go for surgery on 10/21 at 1:00 PM. I urge those that are on preop or will be on preop to think about what you are feeling. Write it down. Talk about it. Process it. My husband and I normally go out to eat for date night but we have found other things to do. Occupy yourself. I started shopping for my surgery needs. Read other peoples preop experiences. That has helped me tremendously. Last but not least, realize this phase is temporary. Each phase will come with its challenges. Focus on today, as it prepares you for tomorrow.

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?
I am drinking and added miralax... We shall see. On another note, this October group is AWESOME. I was in the October 2012 sleevers group and I must say no one from that time frame still posts. I really hope we all can stay active in the forums. I think it helps us to stay accountable. Also it is great for newbies to have a frame of reference 1-2-3 years out. I went underground too so I am speaking from experience. I challenge us all to share our experiences the good, bad and ugly. As it is such a huge benefit to this forum.
