Thank you! I have been sneezing a lot and I hold a pillow, but I wonder if that is causing my pain. Sneezing really hurts!

Was the pain almost like a pulling sensation?I have been drinking propel at least every other day. It is zero calories too. Yesterday, all of a sudden I got this really uncomfortable pain. Like a very sore muscle of course under my large incision. I don't know if I did too much yesterday or what. I have my 2 week post op spot so I can bring it up then.

Yes, I think when I reach up it definitely hurts, but even getting up and down now hurts more than it did this past weekend.

today is my 2 week post op visit and official weigh in day. I started my pre-op diet on 10/7 weighing 276.2lbs. Surgery Day I weighed in at 265.6 for a total loss of 10.6lbs. Today I weighed in at 254lbs for 11.6lbs loss since surgery. Total loss 22.2lbs. I am also glad I have post-op appt today as I am dealing with some pain that came about yesterday. It is really hard to get fluids in when not feeling good. Gotta try to do better today.

Thank you, been HOME, been struggling to try to get in everything that I need to drink as far as Water goes and Protein and the Vitamins. I was kind of out of it at the hospital but I remember my surgeon telling me that on my third day which have been a while back now and I haven't done it but he said something along the lines of being able to have sugar free Jello sugar free pudding low fat cottage cheese low fat cream Soups that have been strained yogurt with no edible fruits in them granted he told me all this when I was in the hospital and under heavy medication at the time still and I'm trying to remember if I heard him right because it doesn't seem like that with anybody else is doing
Yea!!! Your not getting good sleep in the hospital, I was exhausted when I got home. You probably won't want to drink much when you get home either, you just have to make yourself. Have a safe trip home!I've been SO sleepy, I think that's why I haven't felt the need to drink ANYTHING. But I get to go HOME today to SO I'm happy
I has bypass and I could have creamed soups, all clear broths teas etc, s/f Popsicles/jello, yogurt no chunks. My post surgery diet was not all liquids. Cream of wheat was even on my list, it just had to be runny. I can tell you I tried yogurt, didn't sit right. So I stick to Soup, Decaf tea, jello and pops. I will advance my diet hopefully tomorrow after my two week check up. My nutritionist gave me a binder with all my info including sample meals. I would check with your dr or NUT to get more info. It is a lot of information to digest couple with Vitamin intake.
I do get two Protein Shakes in mosts days, but I have yet to hit 64oz of Fluid combined.

I love peppers, onions, eggplant, carrots, butternut squash, yellow squash and zucchini. I do variations of those combinations. I use EVOO, Balsamic vinegar, Kosher Salt, Cracked Pepper and some Rosemary. I love roasted veggies.

I had to meet all the requirements again. 3 month diet, psych eval etc. I also had to show that I followed my program post sleeve. Additionally, my surgeon did a barium swallow and EDG that should medical cause for revision. I was approved quickly and had my surgery on the 21st of Oct.

I just had my sleeve done at fair oaks on Tuesday October 27th
I was in hospital 2 days as I had s couple of medical issues that needed to be monitored but home now and feeling much better on day 3 post op
One note, I was suprised and somewhat disappointed that my room was in the med-surg unit and got the small side of a shared room
No window, no recliner to sit in
I was under the impression that I would be in a unit/room especially for bariatric patients
Also although my nurses were good they were not bariatric specialist
Just some questions you nU want to ask before your surgery date
I know they do have private rooms with recliners and larger beds but I guess I wasn't big enough to get one
That's s first!
That's too bad. I too thought they had a Bariatric wing but it was not. It was not busy at all when I was there. I had my surgery the 21st. I did have a private room and for the most part my nurses and techs were great. They also seemed very familiar with Bariatric patients. They all seemed very concerned with the level of care.
I have seen several people post about Holy Cross and have had good experiences.

I just had my surgery at Fair Oaks. Great experience the staff was great. I am a little over a week post op. I am in N. VA.

I had RNY on 10/20, and I was hoping my belly swelling would have been better by now. I'm passing gas okay, but I look like I'm 6 months pregnant. LOL. I have my 2-week follow up next Weds. Is it common to still look bloated?

I had my RNY the 21st and although the swelling has subsided some I am still swollen too.

Sorry it was so rough on you I have heard it is more difficult for those that have hernias as well as the rny surgery or any gastric surgery for that matter I hope things get easier. I like your idea to write down your thoughts and feelings as you go so you can see how far you have come! Just remember this bad part is only for a very short time and the benefits are for a lifetime pretty soon you will be enjoying your new body and new life!Yesterday was a challenging day for me. I am coming off medications and do I was in a bit of discomfort. I spoke to the nurse and she told me being I was a revision patient and hernia repair on top of RNY. I just had a day trying to get in fluids, just because I don't feel thirsty or hungry. It really is an effort to drink. It is so surprising. People talk about it but it is just hard to believe until you go through it. I write all my emotions down so I can look back and remember how this was for me and never take it for granted. Today is a new day.
Thank you! She said more manipulation with those dang on hernias! which is why I am feeling it in that one incision but it feels better today. Each day is progress. I am still very happy for another opportunity.

30/30 rule. That is what my office teaches. No Drinking 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after. Now they did say if you bite into something really spicy take a small sip but don't make it a habit.

Well unfortunately I went in for my surgery even got prepped and everything but they happened to realize a thyroid issue with my blood work and thought the safest route would be to put me on meds for a few weeks and make sure my levels were under control and then reschedule because the thyroid effects so much including apparently blood pressure and he said it could even with y levels cause me to crash in surgery and if they didn't give me the right amounts of something because of course they can't predict that exactly with me not being on thyroid meds they might not be able to bring me back so I am glad he is being safe just a little disappointed I have to wait a bit longer but that's OK won't be too much longer
So glad they caught that. I can imagine the disappointment. But is great that they are planning it safe. I know the anesthesiologist is very interested in labs too. He mulled mine over for awhile. They want to be sure to keep us safe.

Hi Likeadiamond,Tomorrow will be one week. I am coming of pain meds and I must admit I am in more pain than expected. I had the hernia repair and I am sleeve to rny. The nurse told me today that yes I will have a bit more pain because there was more manipulation.
Congrats on being one week out! Do you mind me asking what made you decide to to a sleeve to RNY? I am 5 months out, and very happy with results so far - but have had a major slow down in weight loss. Wondering if I should have done the bypass instead.
Hope the pain gets better soon for you!
Thank you! I was previously SleevenChica and thought it appropriate to change my name. Here is a link to a post I posted. BTW INOVA Fair Oaks was great!

So post op appt went well. 22lbs down and advanced my diet. The pain and lump is bruising under the skin. She told me depending on the amount of manipulation can cause more pain. My skin is discolor end in that area.
