    O.o

    How Rude!
  2. I think it is great he wants to go. It shows his support and it may help him through his fears. My husband wants to be involved 100 percent. It is a blessing, some women fear telling their husbands!
  3. I have my first consulate with the Colombian surgeon today. I am excited. I am writing my list of questions. I spoke to BCBS and since we are stationed abroad my approval process will be much easier. All I need to do is meet their requirements. Since I am abroad he is automatically considered a preferred provider. Listening to everyone's stories about the insurance process, I feel lucky that I can opt to have the surgery here.
  4. I will document it all. I know many people on the boards travel to Mexico with good experiences. The care here on other things has been good. I do hear their nursing is not the best, but that the doctor is amazing. I speak Spanish, however with anything medical, I prefer english. I am very excited.
  5. Excited for my 1st appointment tomorrow!

    Goal Weight?

You look fabulous! I think you have to do what is comfortable for you. Honestly, I think the BMI chart is a crock, but that is my opinion. Whatever you decided you were and are beautiful!!!

  8. Isnt' it called HIPAA Laws, so she can ask for a dr's note, but she has no legal right to know why you are out!!!! NONE OF HER BUSINESS! I bet if you say your are protected under HIPAA she won't ask you another question. Requests from your employer The Privacy Rule does not prevent your supervisor, human resources worker or others from asking you for a doctor’s note or other information about your health if your employer needs the information to administer sick leave, workers’ compensation, wellness programs, or health insurance.

    Wls In South America

I suppose it depends where you are living and exactly what you are having done. I don't believe all places are created equal. I can say for the most part the healthcare in Bogota is good. Many of the doctors and dentists are US trained and speak English. Although, I speak Spanish, I really prefer anything medical or dental be communicated in English.

    Wls In South America

Hi, I am new to the forums. I have finally after 15 long years decided on WLS. We are currently stationed in Bogota, Colombia and I have decided to have my surgery here. I will have my first meeting with the surgeon this week to discuss my surgery options. I personally haved decided to go with the sleeve; however I am sure he will tell me my options. I have known several people here to undergo WLS and have had great results. At first I was very concerned with doing it abroad, but through research figured it would be a little easier. My husband has been so amazing through this whole decision making process. I will keep you posted on my experiences in Bogota, Colombia.

To Tell Or Not To Tell....

I have only told my husband, mother, my two really good friends and the one person that has already had it. She is amazing support. I know there will people that do not agree and honestly, I do not feel the need to discuss or defend my decision. I am not embarrassed or ashamed, but I just want it to be a good experience. I don't feel like having the extra stress of being on defense.
  12. You look amazing! What a great transformation. Congratulations on all your success!

    Wls In South America

I will for sure. The biggest issue is having surgery at high altitude. We are like at 8200 feet. The one person I know did tell me she had difficulty breathing afterwards and they gave her blood thinner shots, to help reduce the risks of blood clots. I am still excited. The best part is I have BCBS and being overseas I just have to meet the criteria, but I don't believe the process is as long.
  14. Congratulations and wishing you a speedy recovery!

    Body Dysmorphia In Reverse

I totally relate and feel the same way...then I see a picture on FB next to my size 6 friend and I thing OMG....i am fat. I think too because I am a pear, I carry the weight "well" but, at the end of the day 260lbs on a 5'6 frame whether it is small or big boned is a lot of weight. But then I go home and look and my mirror and it is like a trick mirror! But I weigh what professional football and basketball players weigh. NOT CUTE>
